Something in the Water?

  • #1, #2, #4, #6, #8, #14, #16, #17.

That’s 8 ranked teams losing since Monday. Six of the Eight lost on the road.

Puts our loss in some perspective here.

Baylor went to the line 18 more times then Tech last night and only won by 4 at home. The friendly whistle in the Ferrell Center was as easy to spot as it was in Morgantown.

Crazy week in Basketball so far

  • @BeddieKU23 Gets me to thinking, ya scary I know , But looking like no dominate teams this season. Ya there are teams right there, very easily could be but seeing this just makes you think, going to be an interesting NCAA tourney for sure. - - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Parity coming to college hoops? Probably not, but interesting times indeed.

  • I need @jaybate-1.0 to investigate whether these teams were drinking Water or Gatorade at their games.

  • Losing on the road in conference play isn’t a huge shock. Everybody loses on the road in conference play. It’s just so rare (and difficult) to go undefeated in conference.

Had most of the losses happened at home, I would be surprised, but KU hasn’t won in Morgantown since before Andrew Wiggins. That’s not a game I mark down as a likely win. It’s a bonus win for KU.

Tough game at Rupp this weekend, but then KU can focus back in on the Big 12 race, where they still control their own destiny.

  • @justanotherfan after the comments from Self and Huggs, I’m thinking the sec big 12 challenge will either be moved to preseason or vanished!

  • @Crimsonorblue22

I actually like it in the middle of conference season, and I like the chance to get another premiere opponent on the schedule.

It’s also good exposure for the middling teams in the Big 12, and a chance to get a nice win for Selection Sunday. It doesn’t necessarily help KU, but its good for the conference overall, so I think they should keep it.

  • Wide open year. There is no runaway favourite.

  • @justanotherfan don’t think it matters what we think though.

  • @BeddieKU23

This ought to frag up consensus and make bet balancing much easier.

  • @BeddieKU23

So much parity in college basketball, this is why KU’s streak of conference titles is so much more impressive than UCLA’s which was done in a time when few teams dominated the sport.

  • Parity? Or parody?

  • @justanotherfan Agreed. I like it partially because the teams are battle tested at this point of the season. The Champions Classic is amazing and I hope it goes on forever but the teams are not nearly as polished in November as they are in late January / early February.

  • @drgnslayr A little of both.

  • The NCAA tournament this year goes to the team that gets hot and has the right match ups. Parity in the Big 12, who would have thought TCU, Tech and K=State would be in the tournament.

  • just a unbelievable week in College Basketball. - - the # 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 16, & 17th ranked teams ALL lost this week. - Florida St the # 6 team lost twice – Kentucky lost twice lmao - -dam - let me say that again KENTUCKY lost twice lmao, - they Got beat by Tennessee and then they got beat by - -ummm dam who was that they got beat by again last night? - -OH YA OUR JAYHAWKS lmao - - Ahhh , gonna be a great day. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @wrwlumpy Yes, but KSU, TCU, and ISU did not do themselves any favors, as far as NCAA berths go, by losing. If one or more of them takes some lumps this last half of conference play they could be in trouble.

  • As I’ve said before At this point of the season forget about national rankings… they are essentially meaningless

  • @Bosthawk I agree you with about the rankings. Mid-February is when I usually start looking at them. The pretenders have been weeded out and from that point on its all about fine-tuning the team and staying health. I also think looking at mock drafts this early is like pissing in the wind.

  • We’re about half way through conference play now. The rankings at this point do give a faiy accurate view of where teams are at now.

  • I will also say that it’s looking more likely that the Big 12 only gets 5 in the tournament this year. Tech and TCU have to get to 9 Big 12 wins to have any chance and both are sitting at 3-5 right now which puts each on pace for between 6 and 8 Big 12 wins. They have work to do and I don’t think either team gets to 9-9 this year. Tech hasn’t won a road conference game yeat and still have 5 road games left. TCU has 5 road games left as well, but they do have a road win over Texas, but are also only 2-2 at home this year.

There are currently only 3 locks in the Big 12 to make the dance. ISU and KSU have good shots at making it. ISU should get to 10-12 Big 12 wins which will get them in even if they go 0-6 against KU, Baylor, and WVU, 11-7 or 10-8 with a Big 12 tournament win gets them in.

KSU has a win over WVU which is big for their chances as long as they get to 9-9 or better and win a Big 12 tournament game.

  • Found some things kind of interesting from browsing around.:

Brisco said - - -We thought we were 20 pts better then that team - - I still believe that - -REALLY? Last night the 52 pts we put up on them in the 2nd half - - Was the most Ever scored on a Calipari team. Kentucky tied their season high for turnovers

We are 16-4 vs top 5 under coach Self " Best record in the Nation during that span" minimum of 2 games vs top 5 Great Win - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @BeddieKU23 Crazy week!! Come monday there will be lots of shake up in the polls.

I still cant believe we won AT Kentucky the way we did. HUGE win. HUGE!

  • @Lulufulu

    Well said!

If the result holds with Nova losing, KU will stay at 2
