TEXAS UNIVERSITY - SATURDAY - JANUARY 21 - 1 P.M. - CBS

  • The Nick Collison ESPN Classic game. Watch the last 2 minutes.

  • KU wins the Big 12 Championship by beating Keven Durant and the longhorns.

  • The Championship before the Championship. One of the most exciting games ever played by KU. Chalmers and Rush vs. Augustine and Abrams. Highlights.

  • @RockChalkinTexas You could’ve at least waived for the picture lol. I’ve never been to Austin. I had a friend that lived there for several years and loved it at first but said politics took the place over and you cant move without offending someone, not surprising seeing some of the protest there the last few years, he’s been back in KS for a few years now. This game could be a trap game with how we have played at home the last few weeks and looking at the huge week we have next week. I love to kick Smarts butt again and get Frank and the boys a rest, get Lightfoot some pt.

  • @wrwlumpy That was a great game. 2 teams playing at a very high level.

  • So, that Collison game … did we really storm the court? I thought we didn’t do that kind of thing at Kansas. Apparently we do.

  • @tis4tim Heinrich stopped it by yelling, “THIS IS KANSAS. WE DON’T STORM THE COURT!!!” Young fans were very worried about the Jayhawks early in the season, We had just lost to Colorado and Arizona. There was a prophetic article that came out before this game about Collison banging his fist on his car as Roy walked by. He talked to the coach about how angry he was with losing. Nick said to Roy, something along the line of "I’m not going to let it happen again. I’m sick of it. A lot of fans felt the same way. Nick had one of the greatest games ever in AFH. Only Wilt had a higher combination of points and rebounds. The crowd went crazy when Nick fouled out with our lead at the end. They screamed louder when Dick Vitale gave him a standing ovation. Texas was considered the team that would win the Conference that year so it was a very excited crowd that did have a few kids did run onto the court until they saw how mad Heinrich was about the situation. You could actually hear him on the broadcast yelling at the students.

  • @wrwlumpy What/where is this?

    Yksmgvo.jpg

  • @BeddieKU23 We get everybody’s best and lucky shots. It’s like they come into AFH and every shot is on a hope and prayer. After all, when you lose in AFH you’re in pretty good company.

  • @RockChalkinTexas You could’ve done a selfie from the window.

  • @wrwlumpy

Yes, there was small group of fans that storm the court but it was not the court full of fans storming we see at other places. I had the fortune of being at that game, 4th row behind the KU bench…best game I have ever watched live.

  • Someone sent me this, I thought it was funny…Texas fans probably disagree…

  • @wrwlumpy whoa homie its hinrich, my dog is named after him lol, met his dad at the TCU game a few years back sat right next to me, good guy.

Get to know yer North American Electric Power Grid.

    Tayhoss in blue.

  • Looking at these stats its hard to find any way shape or form how Texas could win in Allen.

    upload-0e8dc405-99d4-4bd3-95c8-dc2b2ec916ea

Since Tevin Mack was suspended and from the looks of it, could be the end of his career there, Texas has lost to West Virginia by 2 and Baylor by 10.

Jarrett Allen, the recruit KU battled Texas for and lost is starting to play up to his HS ranking. Averaging 18 & 8 in his last 3 and is likely a candidate for Career game status in the Phog.

It seems with Mack gone, freshman Andrew Jones (another KU recruit Texas won) and Cleare a bruising big have stepped up in their leading scorer’s absence.

This is a horrendous 3 point shooting team. Jones is their leader at 32%. It’s clear, keep this team out of the paint, off the FT line and shooting jump shots and this should end up an easy win!

  • @BeddieKU23 That’s what I would have thought with OSU…even though they are a different team completely. Someone touched on it the other day, here, but it seems that…sometimes…and lately teams play free and easy in AFH…they have nothing to lose. As a result, they hit shots…KSU, OSU. Texas could do the same…even though they don’t shoot as well as we know. But…we are certainly over due for an easy win in AFH.

  • @Hawk8086

I agree OSU is a top 10 offense in efficiency, they really know how to score and Texas is the opposite of that. Texas is actually a higher ranked defensive team than KU according to KenPom (albeit by 2 spots 27-29). Texas also has a 170 something tempo rating so they play decent defense and play slow to try and keep the game as close as possible.

Hopefully KU will get this Texas team out of its tempo/defensive rhythm and we’ll get a chance in the 2nd half to rest Mason & Graham. I can see that Texas will look to push the ball inside to Allen/Cleare to draw fouls on Lucas and hope they have a good shooting day to keep it close.

We haven’t looked unbeatable at home so this would definitely be the game to snap out of that. I hope they don’t look to far ahead to Tuesday

  • @BeddieKU23 do we know Mack is done?

  • @Crimsonorblue22

I haven’t seen anything since a Jan 14th article but Shaka was quoted as saying he didn’t know if he would be back this season and he’s not practicing with the team or traveling. Shaka suspended him, not the university. Mack was suspended for 3 games to start the year as well so he may have run out of chances. Usually that’s a good indication that a kid will be seeking a new place at season’s end

  • @BeddieKU23 I didn’t know all of that. Thx

Thanks for the back story. I definitely remember the game. I just didn’t recall any of the stuff after, aside from Vitale’s standing “O”. Do you or anyone else recall if anyone has tried to set foot on the court after a win since that game? Has the “no storming” mantra always been in effect at KU? I’m guessing court storming was probably non-existent prior to the 80s, but any history there would be appreciated.

  • 150 seems like a lot. But there were 16,300 people there.

  • texas girl.jpg I’m trying to post a picture of the young woman cleverly placed behind the KU bench when we played in Austin a couple of years ago. If the intent was to distract our players, it didn’t seem to work. But, she sure got a lot of camera time and made a lasting impression with me.

  • @wrwlumpy

The Florida game was huge because Florida was the defending champion with just about the entire team back and went to repeat. Huge win by KU but not much of a court rush since it was played at a very small venue (Orleans) and it was just a handful of drunk fans…

    Time to hook them horns!

  • @JayHawkFanToo fantastic!

  • Man I hope we come out and put it to these guys and give some rest to our guards. Texas hasn’t been really blown out in conference play and we haven’t blown anyone out in a good month. They play good enough defense that could hang in for a while if we score our avg I don’t see it being a contest with how they struggle on offense. KU 88 Texas 75

  • @kjayhawks agree. I hope we :facepunch: the 💩 out of the horns.

  • Like the intensity and defensive effort so far.
