Charges no more...At Least on Bragg !

  • Ok, so I got a question. -Now from reports or others have HEARD now here we are again but just saying IF and let me say again IF, there have been some saying that this isn’t the first time this girl has been involved to players - -reference LaGerald Vick I believe, soooo since they are now filing charges on her - -is their a possibility they she could be expelled from Ku - -Think that would be a fair judgement -Again IF would that be to harsh on her? - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 I hope so, they filed charges. Works both ways!

  • @jayballer54

Probably not. I don’t believe the school can regulate what students do on “activities” unrelated to the University, unless she is convicted of a serious/major crime and chances are she will be go to a diversion program of some sort and her record expunged upon completion. Any proceedings by the University could be viewed as retribution and could potentially lead to litigation, particularly if she claims minority status (I believe her family is from Pakistan), although in another month or so this will carry a lot less weight.

Perhaps the lawyers that post here can chime in?

  • @globaljaybird The story you posted the link for says HCBS said Wednesday the suspension has been lifted.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I hope they can! Especially if she’s done it before. We are so eager to jump on the male, but as a mom of boys, damn sure better work both ways! Women want same rights and equal pay, and I do too!

  • @JayHawkFanToo was this not at a frat house?

  • Judging by the address, I’m thinking it was at one of the apartments at 9th and Michigan.

Sad deal. Public opinion hung him out to dry immediately. Paints a pretty good picture of our society in some asPects these days. I know a lot of people said to take the wait and see approach, but others were quick to castigate. I think Joe Davis, like many, made complete fools of themselves.

  • @JayHawkFanToo ya very true, didn’t really know for sure - -but sounds about right - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @brooksmd Thx for the assit. Overlooked it myself.

  • @Blown I thought it was on emery

  • @Crimsonorblue22 yes u r correct. Same complex.

  • @Blown was it a frat house?

  • @Crimsonorblue22 According to the story and the comment by CB’s attorney, “Soofi was “under the influence of alcohol” at the time, Chahine wrote, and she and Bragg were at the Delta Upsilon fraternity house, 1025 Emery Road.”

  • @Crimsonorblue22

I don’t know. I am not sure if Fraternities and Sororities are considered to be part of the University or private institutions associated with the University; I would think it is the second. I know that in the past Frats/Sororities have lost “accreditation” or they have been put on probation because of things such as hazing, but I am not sure individual member are treated any differently than any other student.

  • I feel sorry for Carlton and the girl involved. She’s obviously going through some things and given the unfortunate news about her brother, I can understand her struggles. That being said, I can’t get over the fact that he was so quickly charged and she was released simply to be charged a few days later while the charges were dropped against him. Doesn’t seem like proper justice. His mugshot will follow him forever and there will always be some people that doubt his innocence simply because they’ll Google his name and see a mug shot. It’s possible he did something that upset her, but there’s no excuse for this to happen. I can only hope they both learn from this… she can’t lie and he has to avoid these situations at all costs. This is one Probable Cause Affidavit that I’m looking forward to reading.

  • With this behind him, hopefully he will put all of his effort in class and on the court - I would expect no less than extra effort and motivation.

  • Aw shucks, this could be the making of our future star power forward. I would bet dollars that young Mr. Bragg will keep his activities in order, and his nose to the proverbial grindstone throughout the remainder of this season. Tight grip on his zipper!

  • @REHawk probably won’t be the only one, and probably not just the Jayhawks! Today is bragg’s bday too!

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Is this the same Joe Davis you reference? If so he still just a smart elec kid- Big time all the way from the Montgomery Biscuits? Baylor intern? I ain’t impressed specially if he is bad mouthing Kansas BB/Carlton Bragg.

    https://www.linkedin.com/in/joe-davis-5b85bb19

  • @globaljaybird did I? I read him on Twitter.

  • @globaljaybird I don’t think so

  • Great news obviously, and ya Joe davis can kiss my back side “Carlton Bragg doesn’t deserve to be at KU”. Innocent until proven guilty. I said the other day I’d be shocked if there was charges if the rumors we heard were correct at all.

  • IMG_4171.PNG

This guy global. Handled this Bragg ordeal like a giant d bag. If you are on twitter, go read his bad- mouthing in your spare time.

Sorry for double post. Was on wrong thread earlier.

  • @Blown Thank you for the post because I never had heard of Joe Davis until this topic.

Reason 276 for me to never ever look at Twitter!

  • @mayjay yep. A lot like other social media platforms. There’s some good and some bad. I follow about 10-15 sports guys to keep up on Kansas/Missouri metro sports and that’s about all i make the time for.

  • @Blown that’s the one I know!

  • "Just WTH is this Joe Davis dude anyway? Someone really super special (in his own mind) or “Im-po-tant”, Yeah, like maybe wearin a tuxedo to his vasectomy, or just another halfwit twitter tweeter?

  • @Crimsonorblue22 They said it was at the Delta Upsilon frat house

  • Not to be that guy but i’m going to be that guy for a moment, Carlton should step his game up. He’s a KU basketball player even if he wasn’t a good looking guy that alone would get him a higher grade of “tail” if that’s all this was. Plus her family has some sketchy history. I know all kids make dumb mistakes but if I have 30 teams lining up to throw me millions of dollars in the next couple years i’d watch who i’m involved with more closely. Definitely a teaching moment.

  • @Crimsonorblue22

It’s on their front page that he’s reinstated

  • Very happy to see the charges dropped so quickly. It didn’t stop Carlton from being humiliated this past week and the damage control of the situation will never restore some opinions of him. But it is very encouraging to see that all the facts have been put out there and Bragg is free to get about his life again.

I think we will see a motivated kid for the foreseeable future on the court as this situation might provide the spark he needs.

I’m also glad that nobody on this board jumped to crazy conclusions about the situation before it was over with. I think everyone is happy now besides the crazy girl!

  • Let’s see Carlton have a monster💪 game vs. Davidson and show his fans that he “gets it” about what playing for KU means. Hopefully he has the fortitude to put this behind him and not let it affect him going forward. His dilemma should be a giant wake up call to all of the players and hopefully no one in Jayhawk Nation will hold this against him.

  • @BeddieKU23 ESPN?

  • @Crimsonorblue22

    yess the College Bball page

  • I don’t want to be the “Negative Ned” but this situation isn’t completely over yet.

    First -

“The Journal-World has submitted a request for Bragg’s arrest affidavit, which is a document filed by police explaining the grounds for an arrest.”

There is a good chance this has some character-damaging information in it, and attempts have been made to block it by Carlton’s attorney. So if JW releases that information, Carlton may become embarrassed and possibly ashamed.

    Second -

Hopefully, this just goes away. However, sometimes one side will feel the need to address this in civil court… even when they really have no case. Sometimes it is done to create more hardship and used as an attempt to save face, or to reach a settlement agreement.

Most likely, this story will just go away. But it is a good idea to know what is still possible.

  • @drgnslayr

I really don’t believe they will find anything that has not already reported. She called the police and gave them her version of what happened, SOP for the police is to err on the side of safety so they arrested him on “suspicion” of battery. In order to keep him detained they had to charge him with something or release him which is what they did. Once they became aware that there was video of the incident they procured it and once it was proven that he did not do anything wrong and her story was false, charges were dropped and she was charged. I believe the process worked as well as it could have under the circumstances. The accuser needs to be held responsible for her actions. which obviously had consequences and could have costed Bragg his career.

I am going to guess KU personnel was on top the entire time and knew it would not take long to get unraveled and wisely stayed out of it, lest be accused of interfering, and let the process take its course.

  • @JayHawkFanToo

“I am going to guess KU personnel was on top the entire time and knew it would not take long to get unraveled and wisely stayed out of it, lest be accused of interfering, and let the process take its course.”

You guessed right. One very solid area for KU is their legal structure. A model for other universities.
