KU schedules mostly home games, and top teams will only do home and away or tournaments. Every year we have several sacrificial lambs who come to get beat for the money while we fill Allen and shore up our budget. Our non-conf schedule has been tougher recently for several reasons: the Champions Classic; a few more home and away deals with significant teams; and non-conference “tournaments” that let us play a few more games. What helps is playing better teams and playing away from Allen. As you say, all of that is beside the point! The streak is exclusively about the conference season. The rebuttal would be to look at the SOS of the Big 12, not KU’s SOS. We won despite Durant, Griffin and Beasley playing for rival teams in our conference. Who were the best players against UCLA during their streak? Who were the best players against Gonzaga? I’m going to go cool off now…

  @VailHawk You’re right. Just finished watching the last 2 minutes of regulation and OT. He does look like him. And I hate to say it, but kudos to E*** for going those last 2 minutes, and OT with no commercial breaks until less than 30 sec in OT when it was a wrap. Good job. Now, fire that bimbo.

  @REHawk The conference tourney just became a lot less important. KU pretty much has a 2 seed locked up regardless of their performance in it. I cant believe that Coach Self will go full out with his guys just to win that tourney and lose steam later this month.

  @DoubleDD Interesting take. I think that KU would have trouble with all the Nike stacks ie; Arizona, UK, Duke. Wisconsin is scary bcuz they have loads of experience, tough team. Virginia, I ditto what you said. Nova? I just cant stand Jay Wright so Im completely biased against them. They wont even make it to the sweet 16. Gonzaga? Same, but I dont hate them. They just havent played anybody tough and it will cost them later this month. I hope against hope that UK overlooks a very tough and battle tested mid major team and gets beat in the second round or so, anywhere before the Final Four. I hate them the way Gollum hates the Hobbits and wish they lose a game in such tragic fashion. They dont deserve to win out this season. Cheaters.

What a friggin’ joke! If you are going to run a platoon… then you should be sacrificing the personal accolades for players. 9.1 ppg and 6.4 rpg doesn’t put you near the category of NPOY. Not even in the conversation. You can’t be a part-time worker and get full-time benefits. Kaminsky averages 18.1 ppg, 8.3 rpg. And he definitely plays a more integral role for his team. Frank gets hit with double and triple teams to earn his points. Willie is just another option on a team of McDs AAs.

  It is hard to be at KU, if you read the article by Dicky V on COY, you will see the media biase on KU. He did not even mention Self! Same go for our beloved Players, they have to do a lot more to attract media attention to build their cases for any consideration for awards; because winning is to be expected. But, I think that is the price we have to pay for being Kansas and for being the Big 12 Dominator. RCJH!

  I thought Hunter played fine in the few minutes he got Saturday. Assuming cliff has played his last game here we will need spot minutes from him. If Lucas or Traylor get themselves in foul trouble we certainly could use Mickelson’s rim protecting ability.
