  We are going to see Marcus on his senior night (And I will be wearing my number 0 Garrett jersey while I watch), And he will be an overseas player, hopefully bank some good $, (a lot of those teams pay all the taxes on your salary and give you housing and transportation ), and eventually he will get into coaching … he will either work for Self, or Self will make sure he gets into a good coaching situation

  @BeddieKU23 Temple in 2014 and Arizona St. in 2017. We did beat Georgetown I remember in Wiggins year, won vs. Stanford on the road, and last year against whoever we played.

  Updated PER’s from the Colorado game. Doke & Dotson playing a great level right now. Agbaji saw a nice rise off his 20 pt game. The freshman are playing like freshman now.

  @drgnslayr one could argue that last night was our best defensive performance of the year against a ranked team no less. We held them to 30% from the floor and 20% from 3. Now yes some of those numbers will be guys just missing but does anyone remember back around the title year when we would be in the top 5 in FG% defense year in and out. We haven’t been all that great defensively since then IMO and I still believe defensive wins championships. Since KenPom started rating defensive efficiency, no team outside of the top 20 in that category has won a championship. Which of course includes our 2008 team. I think this team has pieces to be very good on that end of the floor. Some may disagree but Marcus Garrett is the best defender we have ever had.

  @BigBad Pretty much spot on. Imagine how high Agbaji would be if he could do both. I think his ball handling and decision making are bigger issues then shooting. He seems like a good shooting coach away from being a consistent shooter. I think he is going to improve as the season goes on and we will see if both of those weaknesses are the same. To me he is on the Selden Curve

  @mayjay I hear you. I didn’t mention the fans’ superstitions. Then we talk politics. If a coach doesn’t adjust to “hotness” the fans will bark. I can poke fun at all this… including myself and my lucky KU t-shirt I save only for Final Fours…

  @AsadZ He is turning it over slightly more (the Duke game did no favors to anyone) but his turnover % is actually lower because his handling/usage are up a lot. I think Garrett, Doke and Dotson are all in the conversation as they have all improved a lot. Which is good because Agbaji hasn’t really improved at all, Dave looks better at times but is erratic and Moss looks like the same player he was at Iowa.

  So we are now 7 games in including a tight game against a really good team that felt like an NCAAT game. I’d say players are in these groups Ride or die: Dotson, Ochai, Garrett, Udoka Bill will play these guys as much as possible in big games. Udoka is limited by his conditioning, even if it is much improved. Foul trouble is the only way we see the others out for much time in big games. Possibly Ride or Die: Moss This is something to monitor going forward. He is getting healthier to the point where he seems fully healthy now. He averaged 33 minutes a game in the two real games in Maui (sorry Chaminade). Firmly in the rotation: Enaruna, McCormack. Dave is a starter in name only and I am not sure how much longer it will last. That said I still expect him to be the main back-up 5 based on what we have seen so far. He is a step down from Doke but much better than Silvio so far, especially on offense. Enaruna flashes at times but can disappear for periods. It says a lot that he has had a big defensive impact statistically while not having a great idea of what he is doing. If it fully clicks for him at KU on that end he will be a terror. Foul trouble/blow out minutes/deeper bench: Braun, Silvio. Braun just isn’t ready defensively and has been pretty bad on offense albeit in very limited opportunities. He has to get stronger and more confident and he will be fine going forward. His role this year is that of a reserve though and I don’t see that changing barring injury. I would guess no more than 6 minutes in a big game when someone needs a breather. Silvio is a weirder case that I already went more in depth on in the other thread I made. I don’t think his role is set in stone like many others are.

  Hopefully the guys are enjoying the time there. We don’t have a game til the 7th of December, it will be nice to get rest and time to improve.
