@dylans I really am just saying send them in for a play per half. No undermining taking place, just give a little experience. Most players on the field get subbed out during a game, some on 3rd down every time or whatever.

Somehow I thought this was a bye week. However, I turned on the TV around 8 to watch baseball and noticed KU football. Since I record all games, I could watch the whole thing. Glad I did.

Observations. After a slow start Jalen had a really solid game. Avoided the mistakes he’s infamous for. Made some really solid throws.

This defense is offensive. Yet interestingly the defense also won the game for us with the strip and fumble and bent but didn’t break through a high wire act 4th quarter of stop after stop.

That freshman TE Bruhn or whatever his name is can play. So can Groen. So can Henderson.

One little peak at Marshall was enticing. Not sure why QB is the one position that backups rarely play unless it’s in a blowout.

This was a nice win for our bowl hopes but as someone who predicted 8-4 way back in June we’ve got a ways to go.

At TTech next week gonna be a long night the way our defense is playing.

(I’m pretty stoked about all of the great recruiting news coming from our better known team!)

@drgnslayr I’d say the winning teams are winning with older guys still. Not gonna waste time looking it all up but I guess there’s some stat out there of NCAA winning teams and age. Kentucky and Duke are the two exceptions since 2012 I’d guess as they were very young and (tears) beat my two favorite teams which were laden with vets.

No teams win with OAD’s these days. The teams that we see in late rounds of the NCAA are experienced, veteran led teams. If what you’re wishing for or saying is our new reality well it’s not a very bright future for us.

Vs. Nebraska Cincy gained 271 yards Vs. Bowling Green 439 yards 600 vs NW state in a 70-0 rout. Against us? 603 yards.

Cincy is no high powered offense. But against us? They’re worn out from so much running.

    • RE: Lance Leipold

There’s some flaw in this rebuild. Not sure how to pinpoint it. Losing Andy K, the brilliant offensive coordinator may have been the worst thing to happen to this team, but goodness, the mental errors are egregious.

I didn’t get to watch today, but listened til middle of 3rd then followed on game day as we’re travelling and I was hiking, so not sure the mental errors, but a 2nd straight game with a defensive guy lost to a dirty hit is inexcusable. Jalen fumbling on the 1 is beyond inexcusable especially as he’s been prone to fumbles still after ten years running the team.

A defense getting gashed has been the most frustrating part. Missouri destroyed us all day long. Cincy destroyed us almost all day. WVU is bad so I don’t count last week.

A lack of a under two minute minutes offense has to be fixed. I know we scored just under two, but I’ve seen teams get the ball with 30 seconds on the clock get into FG range and we did zero with our last possession.

I’m not ‘fire Lance’ or anything like that. He’s made people pay attention to KU football. But he’s gonna lose a lot of support should these kind of games keep happening. As some have pointed out losing 63-10 is far worse.

Whoa, I watched the first half as we peppered their goal with tons of missed shots and then a 2nd point blank missed shot in the 2nd half and Baylor barely had any good looks BUT connected on them and won 3 nil. Really demoralizing, as balls on frame will rebound and 2nd chances abound, but when you whiff on even hitting the goal from 10 yards and in, well you don’t deserve to win or be ranked.

The KU side goes against Baylor tonight at 6. Ranked anywhere from 8th to 14th in the various polls. KU is 15-1-3 in their last 19 matches, pretty phenomenal. It’s on ESPN+ if anyone has nothing else to do.

It’s getting to the point where I want us to sign our guys like 3 days before school starts because guys decommit so often. I’m kind of amazed that Patterson (I hope I got that name right) is still here because I was sure he’d get lured away by some odd SEC school or something. Glad he’s here. Can’t wait to see him play and then hopefully give us a championship in his only year here. If he doesn’t then I really don’t give a rip that he gave us one year here. I want guys who will go through the good and bad and watch them gel like our 2022 team did. I’ll barely acknowledge he was a Jayhawk like Dick and Furphy.

The great Danny Manning, decided that the pros could wait. Look how that turned out. Chalmers decided the pros could wait. Look how that turned out. Braun and Agbaji same thing. Those are the kind of guys I can say I’m proud were Jayhawks. I know others differ on that opinion and that’s fine.

Wow, I’m still stung by that meltdown last year. How did we lose that game? One of about 3 or 4 gut punches last year that turned our season from promising into a disaster fraught with what ifs and what could’ve beens.

This year we’ve had one what could’ve been already. Maybe a decision to punt is the what could’ve been that separates our season from good to great.

Tomorrow, I hope we keep the foot on the accelerator and bury them so there’s no doubt on the outcome. I’m fairly confident victory is possible. Will call it 35-31 Jayhawks.

Is it also a reason for increasing electricity rates as demand is increasing? I think I’ve read that. If I’m wrong, correct me. If I’m right, correct me either way!

A great road victory at OSU. KU player got booked for a red card a bit unfairly IMHO halfway thru the first half. Early in the 2nd half KU, despite playing a man down scored a beautiful goal and they controlled the ball much of the way. This is a really solid squad. 7-0-2 right now. 19th ranked for now. Hopefully continuing to improve.
