@BShark Think I shared before but we’re not huge cheese officianados. Every time I’ve had ‘odd’ cheese I seem to think I should eat more from authentic small town cheese makers. The raw honey discussion sounded interesting too, maybe we don’t know what we’re missing!

RE: 2025 Schedule
Our home games will truly be home games this year, correct? I’m fairly optimistic, thinking we can scratch 8-9 out of that schedule. While I’m not predicting this, it seems to me that every game is winnable. There’s seemingly no national title contenders on there. We ‘own’ ISU, will in no way no how lose to Utah, and Lance has had manhattan jr. college on his to beat list and just might pull it off this year.

RE: The portal.
@approxinfinity Whadya mean, those schools were major powers back then! Good point though, but my comment just reflects my general mood on all of this portal madness.
Scott Drew has zero guys on his team right now. Portal madness X100.
College football players who portalled back in December are now portalling again in the spring portal period.

RE: Playing baseball on turf
Whilst living in Louisiana our town had a little league complex with 4 turf fields. While i bristled as a tax payer I soon saw the park filled nearly year round with tournaments. Friday night to Sunday evening. Restaurants and hotels filled. Lots of money coming into the town. But in the majors, grass is what it should be.

RE: The portal.
We got a kid from…St. Bonaventure. Wow, KU basketball is so back.
-
RE: The portal.
@mayjay I forgot I’d entered the portal. That makes me exportal I think and means I can charge a tariff I think on my exportals.
-
RE: The portal.
@BeddieKU23 Thanks for the info, hadn’t heard, but the question almost becomes now who isn’t in the portal?
-
RE: The portal.
@FarmerJayhawk As we were holding off OSU at the FF Tyshawn made a bad pass that went right to Bill Self!
-
RE: The portal.
@approxinfinity I think he’s already drawing social security so he wouldn’t need NIL $$.
-
RE: The portal.
@drgnslayr They only had 15 OR’s, compared to Flo’s 8. Maybe 3 more would’ve helped.

RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
4 fouls total called in 1st half, 26 in 2nd half. They can’t review a goaltending call if they don’t call it. If they call it, then they can review it, so why not avoid a million miffed Houston fans by calling it and then reviewing it? That was a 5 point swing.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
1983 loss has to be the worst for Houston ever, maybe the worst championship loss ever for any team. To now be the butt of jokes on social media for that last possession is going to hurt a lot as well.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
Wow, the ‘foul’ on the loose ball leads to the winning FT’s. Florida guy steps out on his own. Ref makes up a push call. Would’ve been nice to see the Big12 get another championship, but Houston seized up at the wrong time and couldn’t make shots to save their championship.

RE: The portal.
Seeing it in lots of places, looks like Flory is back!

Is this true? I can never tell

RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
@nuleafjhawk I understood that and didn’t intend to make you feel badly about anything.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
@Crimsonorblue22 I was joking about Scheyer!
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
@Crimsonorblue22 Yikes, I just started reading a CBS article. Exonerated but also not completely cleared of some really inappropriate stuff.
As I’ve thought about young guys who could be our next coach I thought about him. NOT anymore! Scheyer is young, maybe we could get him. Wouldn’t that be a coup?!!
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
@Crimsonorblue22 Really? He has some skeletons?
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
If they can pull it off it’s titles for the league in 3 of the last 5 tournaments.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
Bye bye Duke!! (pitiful to have to cheer on someones demise, but it’s all we got!)
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
Duke reaches in and holds a lot.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
That dunk by the Florida kid, was downright filthy and disgusting and if a Duke kid had done it he’d already be immortalized in Springfield or wherever they immortalize mere mortals these days…
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
@nuleafjhawk Duke is a beautiful place. Strolled their gardens this summer. Snuck into their 2nd best basketball arena. Amazing how much I hate them! My grandma also passed at Duke hospital so it actually is a place with a lot of meaning to me.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
We beat both these teams, well should have beaten both of these teams. Took the worst meltdown in memory to prevent it. Hard to believe.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
Maybe I’m just biased against Duke, but I see fouls that aren’t fouls being called against Houston and fouls that aren’t being called against Duke. Duke is really good, but they don’t need help.
-
RE: The portal.
I’ve taken a lets see who takes the court on November 1 attitude. Done worrying or even caring who goes where.
-
RE: Quest for the Postseason
Last time in the college world series I think was the 90’s? One great year we made a FF, Bowl game, and CWS, one of a few teams to do so. Probably 93 since that was a FF year.
-
RE: So, can you watch most of their games on ESPN+?
Yes they’re on ESPN+. I’m just not into KU baseball enough to spend time watching.
-
RE: Are you watching Peterson's clinic in the McD's Game?
Haven’t been watching but great scouting report!
-
RE: The portal.
@Texas-Hawk-10 And right on cue Colvin leaves Purdue, young 4 star guard who was decent this past year.
-
RE: The portal.
Tweet just said ‘KU fans like to complain about NIL hurting the program, but KU has more NIL to spend than anyone else. This is a program problem.’ What do you think.
-
RE: The portal.
@BigBad About a month ago I was arguing with people here about Peterson, but I thought it was Patterson?? Anyways I took wasn’t excited and a lot of people were talking about the impact he’ll have on the program because other kids will want to come here too. They said Embiid and Higgins or is it Wiggins (I can never remember because he’s kind of not a Jayhawk to me) led to better recruiting which culminated in a Natty and a FF a few years before. Not sure about that, but there also wasn’t this inane portal back then either. Unless Patterson joins some other studs ala Duke this year, then whatever.

RE: The portal.
@drgnslayr Awesome post! It took me a while this season to see, but I really soured on what I was seeing and started to think more and more about the next KU coach. Worried about the ‘blue blood falloff’. Nebraska football, Indiana basketball being the prime examples. Rabid fans expecting a high finish to the season, sometimes unrealistically.

RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
@Jhawk69 I agree. Here’s what bugs me about officiating though. The play he rolled his ankle should have been a foul. Here’s my logic. A 3 point shooter goes up and lands on a defenders foot and its a shooting foul. That play today Broome landed on the layup shooters foot who falls as does broome and it’s out of bounds to Auburn. I didn’t see that much of the game. As state above, I’m not too heartbroken Auburn won.

RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
Reminding me of my college days working as a bricklayer.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
@Texas-Hawk-10 Yeah my bracket was looking good for the FF until TTech choked. I think I picked for someone over Duke based on the fact that our worst team ever beat Duke!
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
IMHO Michigan St. could do us all a favor and knock off Auburn today giving us only one SEC team in the FF. Had TTech known how to make FT’s and a MSU win SEC could’ve been shut out and the Big12 had two! But pulling for Sparty, although i like Pearl, thinking he’s changed quite a bit and is a fun coach to watch and listen to, more of a Valvano type now.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
SECPN radio was talking during the games last night as I was driving home and talking Duke. The dude actually said Duke received no challenges in the ACC except for when Clemson surprised them and Auburn out of conference. Ummmmm, KU? US beating them is really the reason why I didn’t very reluctantly not pick them to win it all. So far my FF is intact with Houston, Florida, Auburn and Tech. But I hope Izzo crashes the party.

RE: The portal.
Morez Johnson, surprised Underwood by leaving Illinois. A Bill Self guy if there ever was one. Big rebounder, high energy, runs the floor well, offensive game not spectacular though. Thornton HS, Harvey IL, a mile from where I teach.
-
RE: Other games 2024-2025
@kjayhawks Oh I forgot about that one. Probably because it didn’t end with a difficult loss. I’ve often wondered if that team is allowed to play, and assuming they won, does that make it easier for guys like Och to go pro earlier and make 2022 less likely?
-
RE: Other games 2024-2025
@kjayhawks No the highly debatable part you said I thought you were referring to all of college hoops. I think the 97 KU team is the best KU team ever. 85 could be argued for that title as well. That team beat national champ Louisville twice during the regular season. Never ranked worse than 9th
All of NCAA history, I just don’t know enough about the 40’s-70’s to make a best to not win declaration.
-
RE: Other games 2024-2025
@kjayhawks The injury to Jerrod Hasse was unknown to me until just recently in a podcast and it took away his deadly 3 ball for that game.
It’d require a lot of knowledge to say which was the best team to not win it all. One that comes to mind is Houston in 83 when Guy Lewis committed coaching malpractice by going into a stall to blow a comfortable lead to Clyde Drexler, Hakeem Olajuwan, etc. A college team with future Hall of Famers should win a natty and couldn’t pull it off a year later either.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
I’ve watched like two plays in the Duke game and have twice seen whistles favor Duke, and as I type another one. I hate cheering for Arizona but these refs seem to be swooning for them.
-
RE: Other games 2024-2025
Maybe winning it all in 08 made it sting less in my mind just like this year and 22 still fresh in the memory. Zona in 97, Syracuse in 03 and Michigan in 13 feel a lot worse in my mind.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
Wow, just now being tuned into what Willard has done. I wouldn’t be surprised it a player of a team still playing entering the portal, obviously not agreeing with that being allowed to happen, but for a sweet 16 coach to do it? What an absolute jerk that guy must be. Nova will be going from one of the most likeable coaches in Wright, to a bad one and then to this. And since he’s doing this to Maryland, then Nova shouldn’t be surprised when he does something similar to them.
-
RE: Other games 2024-2025
@Texas-Hawk-10 I suppose you were joking a bit but I admire the heck out of that guy for that shot!
-
RE: Other games 2024-2025
Anyone remember this name? Ali Farokmanesh hired as coach of Colorado St.
-
RE: The portal.
@Crimsonorblue22 Yes we always thought he was a bit psycho. He’d try to intimidate coaches like Bobby Knight but he just looked comical when he did it and everyone laughed at him. I was messing a little bit when i said they got Fran fired. Those guys are decent players and wouldn’t mind seeing Freeman, a 4 star come to KU. The guard was decent too, his HS teammate, but not sure he was quite as highly touted.
