@Kcmatt7 I probably overstated it, but this permitting of kids to just up and leave 4 months until next season starts to stir is disturbing. I don’t know if this is permanent, or just caused by COVID-19 but if it is, recruiting becomes near impossible.

Charlie Moore to Miami
From Cal to KU to DePaul to Miami. Unbelievable. Really hard to fathom a kid can play at 4 different colleges.

RE: 2021 Transfer Talk/List
NCAA basketball is being destroyed right before our eyes.

RE: Bryce Thompson to transfer
This is a shame. The easy transfer rules are wreaking havoc on college basketball. Coaches must be going mad having their careers depend on the whims of tik tok posting 19 year olds who suddenly think things will somehow become better in some other college town.
Bryce we hardly knew you, and while some here like to say once a Jayhawk always a Jayhawk, I tend to save that for those who gave us something to remember them by.

RE: 7 inning doubleheader
@Kcmatt7 It’s fine. In fact if it helps bring back fans to the game maybe it’ll be a good thing! As a kid I sat down for 2 hour games, not 3 1/2. Maybe I’d have found them boring too if it was like that. Instead I was raised watching someone like Bill Buckner who never struck out more than 40 times in a season over 22 ML seasons! Today guys literally strike out 40 times in a month sometimes.

RE: 7 inning doubleheader
@Crimsonorblue22 where’s the downvote button?
-
RE: 7 inning doubleheader
Replay is good, but it seems like it should go much quicker.

RE: 7 inning doubleheader
@approxinfinity I think Robot umps are coming but I know I’ll say duh to myself, or maybe you will, but what’s VR?
-
RE: 7 inning doubleheader
@Crimsonorblue22 Yes, and I still do. My line to Matt was shorten the games without shortening the games. In other words I still want 9 innings, just not 3 1/2 -4 hour games. Do you think MLB games should be 7 innings?
-
RE: 7 inning doubleheader
I’m a traditional baseball person and will feel cheated out of 2 innings each game. Maybe if it was a normal DH, but not one in which they kick every one out. Then they should play nine innings. @Kcmatt7 There’s lots of ways to shorten the games without, you know, shortening the games

7 inning doubleheader
Sox/Royals rained out today. Will be made up as a 1PM and 7PM doubleheader of 2 7 inning games. I’m beyond pissed about this. It’s such an affront to ticket paying fans who don’t even get two shorter games for the price of 1. The fact it’s my cheaper than dirt cheap favorite team doing it makes it even worse from my end. MLB is the worst league, plain and simple and this is more proof.

RE: Jalen Declares For Draft
@KirkIsMyHinrich You mean if I declare for the draft they’ll give me feedback on what I need to improve my game too?
@BigBad You can add feedback from fans on message boards. We all can tell Jalen what he needing to improve on. I’m trying to be funny but I’m not. We fans collectively can provide some insight on the skills and abilities of our favorite players.

RE: Does Baylor's title make Self hungrier?
@BShark No never saw nor heard of him until this month. So much talent around here. I’ve only lived here for 4 years, after being gone for 25 years so it’s possible he was out of HS when we moved back.
I’m always amazed when I look at a roster of an opponent and see Chicago kids on it and have no clue who that person is.
-
RE: Does Baylor's title make Self hungrier?
@BShark “none of the other coaches like him”. It’s those kind of comments by people here that drove me away from this board for quite some time. That’s a ridiculous thing to write, sorry bro, but you have no basis for writing that.
-
RE: Does Baylor's title make Self hungrier?
@mayjay I was at a church thing that night so i wasn’t watching, (one of the benefits of being a man of faith if there is one!) but wasn’t EJ also guilty of the 10 second call?

RE: ESPNU showing KU games all afternoon
The floor for the '97 game I’m watching still has the Kansas map on the center logo and student seating like when I was a student, bleachers right behind the basket down to the floor. It’s where I always sat when I was there.

RE: Ochai
I don’t get it. Not an economic hardship case. Come back, be the BMOC with Dave, play with a chip on your shoulder after this years down year, groom the youngsters. He leaves now, I guarantee you a year from now I’ll be googling his name wondering where he ended up.
-
RE: ESPNU showing KU games all afternoon
@KirkIsMyHinrich I looked at their schedule. They were top 2 the first few weeks and then #1 the rest even after they stumbled in double OT at Misery. Still not sure how that team lost.
-
RE: ESPNU showing KU games all afternoon
@KirkIsMyHinrich The FT’s ugh. I really wish Drew Gooden had stuck around one more year. I think we’re talking about KU being the last undefeated NC instead of Indiana had he stuck around.
-
RE: ESPNU showing KU games all afternoon
Aaron Miles was a master distributor of the basketball.
-
RE: ESPNU showing KU games all afternoon
Was looking at player stats and Lafrentz shot 17% from 3 in 1996-97. Hard to believe because he made a living in the league for quite some time as a threat from deep.
-
RE: ESPNU showing KU games all afternoon
Boschee 3 like 5 seconds into the Texas game. That 2002 team was undefeated in the league. That team was full of iconic KU players. 7 deep, not to mention role players like Michael Lee, Bryant Nash. 7 top 100 guys on the roster.
-
RE: ESPNU showing KU games all afternoon
Foul trouble graphic showed 3 KU players with 4 and none on UCLA.
-
RE: ESPNU showing KU games all afternoon
We had someone named Kinsey in 2000?
Man, Kenny Gregory was a horrible FT shooter.
The shorts on these kids in 2000 look ridiculous!
-
ESPNU showing KU games all afternoon
KU-UCLA 2000, KU at Texas 2002, An OT game in which we scored 110 and gave up fewer. ISU@KU 1997, a chance to see the greatest KU team of my time.

RE: Coaching Search/AD Thread
The football/athletic training facility at Northwestern is a site to behold. It’s right on Lake Michigan, simply spectacular. Goff’s fundraising ability at NU was incredible. I’m hoping he has the same impact at KU.

RE: Yesufu to KU (Drake PG Transfer)
@Texas-Hawk-10 I wonder how many dunks Big Dave would’ve missed if he still weighed 290?

RE: Shout out to Baylor!
2nd or even 3rd time I’ve had to eat crow on NC winning coaches in the last 4 tournaments. I really didn’t think Jay Wright had what it took with all the flameouts early on in the tournament every year. Watching him outreach Bill Self in 2016 was eye opening, and the destruction of our hot team in 2018 was breathtaking.
Tony Bennett had another can’t win the big one tag, and for goodness sakes, had Purdue not sent three guys after that loose ball in the last seconds of the elite 8 instead of staying home and defending the basket Tony would still be FF’less.
And now Scott, after years of watching his deer in the headlights look as Self bludgeoned the Bad News Bears, and memorably for me, Bo Ryan turning him into a facsimile of a real coach in the Sweet 16, well he has improved, and learned. Seems like a nice guy, all that, glad to see this league becoming a regular in the last weekend of the tournament and notch a NC with nary a big east/Acc/SEC team anywhere near the FF.
I would think this is great motivation but I’m also wondering when this long overdue judgment comes down on our team so we know our consequences if any.

RE: Today's Games Thread
@nwhawkfan I didn’t miss for church, but I’m glad you did! (priorities!). But I am visiting family, was having a great time playing games, totally forgot about the game. Came home, remembered they’d played, it was past 11 here in Pittsburgh and Figured it was over. I’d check score in a few minutes. When I did I couldn’t believe that espn said 22 seconds left in OT. Quickly turned on TV to see Few shaking Cronin’s hand. Started watching post game still unaware of how it’d ended until 5 minutes later they showed replay. Actually got my wife out of bed and said you’ve got to see this. Amazing. I wouldn’t trade the fun evening with family but I’m a bit sad I missed the game, or at least the ending.

RE: Shaka's farewell
@mayjay See I’ve been a coach rising all the way to 6th grade so I do know how hard it is!
-
RE: Shaka's farewell
I don’t think KU fans ever gave him credit enough for beating us while at VCU.

RE: KU 2010-2020 Decade Team
Wiggins got to be in there somewhere and Doke, and Embiid of course and TRob, and Mason and Graham, and Ellis, and Sherron and holy cow there are so many. Like how to you keep a starter on a NC game team like Withey? I’d love that Tyshawn played in 2010-11 like he did after new years day 2012 because we don’t make that game without him. Newman for nothing more than shooting Duke out of the tournament.

RE: Coach Hot Seat and Players to Poach
I saw Porter Moser at a tournament two years ago. I told him I still had some eligibility left if he needed somebody.
-
RE: Coach Hot Seat and Players to Poach
Adam Miller surprisingly leaving Illinois. His mom told me he was high on KU before committing to U of I. Maybe he comes west a bit. Don’t have a working relationship with the mom anymore so I can’t recruit on the sly. He’d be a nice get.
-
RE: Bill Self and who he's lost to.
@Fightsongwriter Makes me feel a bit better about Bill Self. Just so many what ifs, just like his predecessor.
-
RE: Today's Games Thread
So you were at KU in the 90’s when obannon and UCLA won or were you referring to their last 70’s championship?
UCLA is strange. They feel like they should be right up there with the rest of us blue bloods but I guess they’re living proof that a strong program can lose favor with the young guys who don’t know their history. Recruiting guys to UCLA should be the easiest part of the job for a Bruin coach but it’s not anymore.

RE: 2021 Transfer Talk/List
@BeddieKU23 I think it’d be hilarious if his own son transferred!

RE: Today's Games Thread
@mayjay I’m sorry, it was a prediction actually that bad sequence spelled doom for the maize and blue.

RE: Today's Games Thread
Pitiful end to the BIG season. Airball and a prayer that had no chance of being answered even by a very merciful and benevolent God.
-
RE: Today's Games Thread
With ten minutes left on Thanksgiving Day we were behind the Zags by 1 point. It fell apart after that, but for 30 minutes we were as good as the best team in the nation. I really didn’t take too much from that game as a sign of where this team was headed. But after watching the team that destroyed us a week ago get destroyed tonight makes it seem we’re light years away. And yet, Baylor is a team we hung with before losing and then of course defeated. Strange KU season and if there’s no covid affecting Jalen possibly we finished the year on a higher note.

RE: KU Buckets Tournament Challenge 2021!
A friend did her first bracket ever this year. She really doesn’t follow college hoops. She picked her final 4 of Gonzaga, Houston, Baylor and Michigan. I’m sure two weeks ago we’d have told here all the 1 seeds never make it, and here we are in a tournament of epic upsets and double digit seeds in the elite 8 and now it’s playing out almost as expected. I still can’t believe Illinois choked their opportunity away.
-
RE: 2021 Transfer Talk/List
@BeddieKU23 Hedstrom is a big that couldn’t find the court in his first two seasons…
-
RE: Today's Games Thread
Big 12 now has had 4 different teams represent the league in the last 5 tourneys’ final fours. Interestingly it’s those 5 years now that has twice seen us not win the league. @drgnslayr pointed out that a tough league should help KU.
-
RE: Bye Tyon
@Bosthawk I think KU fans were so hard on him that we ran him out of town. I know he was frustrating, but he was still a pretty decent freshman basketball player.

RE: Today's Games Thread
Geographically Michigan is the furthest east team still alive. ESPN must be going crazy. Great year for the west. Since UCLA’s run ended in 1975 there have been only 5 west of the Mississippi champs, KU twice, UNLV, Arizona and Arkansas and UCLA. KU is the only team since Arizona in 1997 to win from the west. TTech almost added their name to the list. From the central time zone, KU, OK AM, Wisconsin, Loyola and KU are the only winners EVER. I like geography and worthless related trivia.
