I’m honestly just thrilled we’re getting athletes again. It was such a crazy thing to watch last year with us being unathletic and not being able to shoot.

People continue to roast Bill on Twitter/X for continuing to defend KJ and play him as much. He said the last play was drawn up for KJ (stupid). He defended KJ saying he just had a bad game and then threw Storr and Griffen under the bus. Hes gonna lose this team if he already hasn’t. If he has any coaching sense he’d start the two of them and actually let them play thru those mistakes like he does KJ, Juan and Hunt.

He’s lost this group. And I can’t blame the transfers. You miss one defensive rotation or jumpshot and you’re pulled. KJ gets to go out there and put out a prime Matt Kleinman stat line and gets to play 25 minutes no matter what.

Sucks losing Kugel but man I’m really excited about a wing trio of Rylan, AJ and Rakease. We got shot creation, athleticism and spot up shooting all in one portal season

There’s no solution. They’re just not that talented and outwardly look like they’ve quit on their coach and vice versa.

We just have to wait it out cause Self has a fetish for the core 3. If things look this bad next year with Darryn and Flory then conversations will be had.

I was still celebrating the Furphy commitment and now I get Flory. Bro this is euphoria to me.

I mean he and Zuby essentially got recruited over. These kids are trying to make the NBA. They’ve got to do what’s best for them.

Our guards and wings kicked their ass. Shout out to Flory too…he grew up last night.

Coach Self still has it

We got the two most athletic guys in this class. I trust Self to do the work with skill development.

Rumors are out that Acuff will be committing next Friday. Arkansas is the choice

Dajuan is atrocious. He is the worst PG of the Self era by far. KJ played with effort but he isn’t very skilled so at some point it becomes harmful. Hunter wasn’t into it at all yesterday.

At this point I’m just looking forward to next season and getting some new kids in the program.

I’ll also say this before anything occurs. I remember in 2019 being disappointed we didn’t land Samuell Williamson and instead took a local kid ranked in the 100s. The local kid turned out to be Christian Braun…we’ll be fine regardless.

It could be hindsight but Ayton always seemed like he wanted other schools to recruit him. Some kids just aren’t enamored with KU which is crazy to us as fans. But it’s how it goes. It’s why I truly enjoy rooting for the Zeke’s, Gradey’s and CB who grew up wanting to play at KU.

He literally just needs to play Dajuan/Zeke/Rylan/Flory and Hunter.

Stop with the preferential treatment to the core 3

@kuballin10 We want a plus athlete on the wing. I’ve been having discussions with BShark about my opinion that we need to get more athletes on the wing. Obviously you just don’t have Wiggins, Ochai, Oubre and Braun type athletes on the wing in every class but I do think Self works best with those.

It’s like I’m constantly being gaslit by Self and Dajuan apologists. I know what top tier PG play looks like. I watched Dotson, Devonte, Sherron and Frank…this isn’t that.

This is an objectively false statement. At PG, Self has brought in Bobby Pettiford, Jalen Coleman-Lands, Remy Martin, and Elmarko Jackson.

At forward, Zach Clemence was in the same class as KJ. Others expected to take minutes from KJ were Ernest Udeh, Zuby Ejiofor.

Obviously, none of those options worked out except for Remy for the last few games, but to say Self never attempted to upgrade those positions is just flat out wrong.

This is untrue imo. Pettiford wasn’t ever a threat to take minutes from him. JCL is more of a two guard than anything. Remy…no need to go into that situation but we had an actual nba player coming off the bench for a minute due to Self not benching Harris. Elmarko played the two as well as Arterio Morris even though they were evaluated as point guards. They played as secondary ball handlers cause God forbid anyone actually gets to be the primary handler when Dajuan is on the team.

Clemence came in the same class. Zuby and Udeh are 5’s which theoretically KJ is but he complained about playing the 5. So we moved him to the 4 and have yet to try to upgrade. We passed on getting Harrison Ingram who ended up being a NBA player due to KJ.

We need another body or two. I’m weary of only having 10 scholarship guys. As far as Chris it doesn’t bother me. Only guys in the recruiting class you had to keep was Marcus and Elmarko…,

Furphy might be a need now with the Adams leaving…

A lot of praise for Philon on rivals for his play the past week.

Why are so many against the kid returning? He’s been forced to play off ball the whole year and essentially adjust to a role he’s never had to do in his life. He’s one of the three-four good athletes on this team. Everybody doesn’t get it as a freshman and that’s fine.

I think there is a very big discrepancy with being a bad or frustrated teammate like Kugel and a criminal like Morris. I’d refrain from using the thug word to this guy.

If you can clamp, Bill will find a way to play you. Kease is going to go down as one of the nastiest defenders in the Self era if he stays healthy imo. He is also our best athlete in quite awhile.

There’s something to be said about a kid like him where all the reports are about how hard he works. It makes it so easy to root for a kid like that. And we’ll need his defensive ability going against guys like Edgecombe

I’m ready for the Dajuan era to be over. I’m just gonna be honest and say it. Good kid and tough player but I want a shot creating pg in the modern era.

Would be more than fine with just taking Mikey, Evans and Chris Johnson as the class.

Staff has been on him for a while. It’s a gamble but he’s the athletic combo that Self loves. Was an adidas kid in HS before the Puma deal.

Would just get dared to shoot all game and be the anti-thesis to modern basketball. They’d see more walls in the paint than Giannis.
