@stoptheflop Leipold said he’s done that in a game 3 times (QB kick). Not sure if either of the other 2 were at KU. He said two of them have worked out really, really well. They practice that every Thursday since he’s been a head coach.

I think Mayo starts. He got benched as a lesson to shoot more. He responded favourably, so I think he will be rewarded.

Gradey is averaging 21 points a game this season so far, after 8.5 last year. He’s really stepped it up in year 2.

I wouldn’t have guessed Wilt has the KU record for free-throws made in a game (18). Wonder how many attempts he had to get that?

There may be a way for international student-athletes to earn some NIL, with passive engagements that don’t require labor, and so don’t violate their student visa. It’s just a matter of getting creative. I’m sure KU Athletics has some pretty creative folks.

I also took my kids there to see the Harlem Globetrotters, when Mike Lee played for them. Screamed for him when he was introduced as a starter and they said he played at KU. It was a small afternoon crowd, pretty quiet, and my kids were embarrassed. But Mike pointed at me and gave me a big smile. That was fun. My kids might disagree.

I went to a couple of games in this arena when Marcus Jordan (Michael’s son) played for UCF.

Yes! He was something.

Remember when UCF nearly knocked Duke out of the NCAA tournament a few years ago? Came really close, twice, should have won. They had some freakishly tall player. Not athletic, but nearly 8 feet tall.

He was also here 2 years, after redshirting the first year due to eligibility questions. Not the typical 1-and-done because he sweated in practice for a year without the glory of the spotlight. So I’m a fan too.

It wasn’t Furphy’s night. Imagine a teenager, recently arrived from another country, on that stage. He seemed overwhelmed, and his stats reflect that (no points in 12 minutes), especially after what we saw in Allen. We know Self values experience, and I’m sure he thought his balding slow old guard could handle the pressure a bit better (mentally) than a kid who oozes talent but needs seasoning. Furphy will get there.

@Crimsonorblue22 Sorry, I thought you were asking if Kevin’s was the first triple-double by a KU player. Blocks didn’t become official stats until 1985, so Aldrich had the first certified triple-double by a KU player in 2009 (with apologies to Wilt and Born, at least). Withey’s was in 2012. Have we had any since then? I don’t remember any. Maybe Kevin is the first with assists? Pretty cool, regardless.
