@truehawk93 Gonzaga will stay as a #1 seed but their conference schedule is so weak that offset its decent non-conference schedule and this is why it is the fourth #1 seed… Keep in mind that more recent games carry a higher value than older games, this why the loss to Indiana will not hurt KU as much and why, with every game it plays, Gonzaga’s numbers drop. If Gonzaga loses one game its numbers will take a tumble and they might end up as #2 seed. Apparently the Computer ranking place a big emphasis on margin of victory and this is why teams like Kentucky and West Virginia appear to do well in those even when they rank considerably lower on the human polls and the RPI.

@drgnslayr There’s certainly no offense taken by me at all slayr. I understand fully that it’s pretty difficult to separate politics from other equations & not just sports. I also understand these young kids are trying to make a difference in their lives & the future lives of others, hopefully in the right way. I’m not quite so old that I’ve forgotten , as the favorite old Statler Brothers song says. The Class of 57 Had It’s Dream." We all thought we’d change the World with our good works & deeds." Old farts were young once too. But I live less than 10 miles from misery & have spent a lot of time in my life all over that entire state-county fairs, road trips, reunions, funerals; etc. In fact just spent 5 days last week at Table Rock plus have another funeral close at hand. There are countless places all over misery I have seen through the years that still fly a Confederate flag, & some even mere miles from Columbia. That shit seems wrong to a lot of people & not just those of color IMO. But I don’t feel the same things that a black guy feels when he knows what his ancestors lived or did not survive through. But I will tell you that my Mothers GFather lost his leg at 17 years old in the Battle of Fredericksburg fighting for the Union Massachusetts Infantry. But he didn’t die & married a young Irish girl a couple of years later. They actually homesteaded in NE Missouri and had 11 children before they passed. They, & many family members are buried on that family farm not far from the Mississippi. But I don carry a chip about it & don’t feel the need to. But if someone rattled my cage or got ugly about it I might. I honestly don’t know how I would react. But I’m an adult with a little more wisdom than a young kid. They are raised differently than my generation. They want things NOW & I understand that. I just don’t understand why they couldn’t find some legal counsel chomping at the bit to make a name, to carry their flag. Its just my take, but using the FB team & monetary method to get results was an improper way to proceed on their crusade. Yeah, it’s getting lotsa publicity but people set in their ways of thought may not perceive the reasons/methods as sympathetically as they should That’s’ just life. But due process should be an integral aspect of this problem also & IMO the legal road should have been more thoroughly considered if in fact it wasn’t. Now, having ground out this yappy schpiel, &kinda being swirled & sucked into this, now I’m gonna try to get out & let it be. probably won’t hurt just to sign on out & let it be.

@bskeet This ESPN article hits the nail on the head. It points out what I am worried about. The OAD process will turn college basketball coaching on its head. From the article: “Every season, Self’s teams have been a combination of talented youngsters, promising stars and reliable, program-sculpted veterans; every season, players from one group slowly move into the other.” But not this year, when we will hope that the freshmen class can catch on quick enough to take us all the way to the national finals. The one thing they don’t talk about in that article is the potential for a super big lineup. That lineup wouldn’t be used all the time, but they could legitimately play a group like Selden - PG, 6-5 White III - SG, 6-6 Wiggins - SF, 6-8 Lucas - PF, 6-10 (or Ellis, 6-9) Embiid - C, 7-0 That’s NBA size or better at every spot. There are maybe 2 teams in the whole country that can match that type of size and talent.

Agree with Tharpe having shown much of what Self wants in a lead guard: recall the 20assist:1 turnover stretch about 9mos ago at the start of BigXII play? Recall the ability to “read” the unsuspecting D and slash to the rim backside, like Tyshawn used to? Also remember with the game on the line at OkieState, during one of the double OTs, Tharpe went off the dribble vs. Forte and scored a pullupJ in the lane? Kid also has that competetive swagger, maybe a bit more than EJ did. I hope his D is better, but everyone may be behind the curve on that issue, given the recent NCAA rule shift…My money is on BOTH Tharpe being THE guy…and on Mason to be a quick study, hopefully. Think of Tharpe in 1 more way: most people who criticized EJ at the end of the Michigan game, were actually offerring Tharpe as the alternative…so there is evidence that others saw what I saw in Tharpe. (Not to start a side topic, but I still would have had EJ in the game, just as Self did…we are just saying “sit” EJ because of hindsight).
