Baylor Bears - Saturday - Noon - CBS

I didn’t take it as a Jinx, I thought of it as KU rises to the occasion at home against good teams. We should expect no less tomorrow. The kids know how important the game is.
For reference that 2011 loss was the Texas game with the fallout from Thomas Robinson. That was an emotional game. Emotional for all of Jayhawk Nation. I know I wept like a baby

Kansas by 11. Our guards are as good or better than theirs and they can’t match up with our bigs. Also Self >> Drew.

@BeddieKU23 me too!

I’m not gonna say double degit win. - Looking at more to me anywhere from 6-8 point. - - Even though Coach has won a lot more then Drew, kind of have to laugh always under estimating what Drew has done with the Baylor program. - -When he took over that program was in ashes. - -total cess pool, now # 4 in the Nation.
I would just have to throw the guard statement right back at ya - -the same could be said for them - - Their Guards are just as good as KU’S. - That’s not being a slap in the face to our guards - -that’s just stating fact/truth. - The Guards pretty well wash one another , stats really much the same.
Team steals pretty much a wash - Team 3 pt shooting right at a wash - -they shoot better Ft % , 69.8 compared to 65.5. - They Rebound the ball slightly better - We turn the ball over more then they do just a little. - 14.2 to 12.6
They’re guards are legit - - very legit , especially Butler… Bottom line I think it’s going to come down to just who executed the best , take care of the ball , rebound etc , etc. I think the Phog and the fans will help let Baylor know where they are at. - I think home floor will give us that 6-8 points were hoping for. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Looking forward to lots of this:
-
Who would of thunk it. - -Christian is the teams 2nd best 3 point shooter at 40.7 % - -shooting way better then Devon who is shooting 31.7 % - -Christian only behind Agbaji who is shooting 40.8 %,
Christian only turning the ball over at a 0.4 % realize true playing less minutes but still - think our boy might turn into a very solid player. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@jayballer73 “kind of have to laugh always under estimating what Drew has done with the Baylor program.”
0 - 17 in Lawrence. That’s why we laugh.
-
@jayballer73 Interesting stat I noticed was that Braun is already up to 9 offensive rebounds. Our best offensive rebounding guard total is currently Ochai with 12! To compare: Ochai has played more than double Braun’s minutes. Kid has a nose for the ball.
Another telling stat on Braun for me is his 2-8 Free Throw numbers. It stands out to me not because I think he’s a bad free throw shooter with a poor percentage but because I think it demonstrates more than any other stat how he is still just getting comfortable playing at this level. It shows how nerves are still a factor, shows he may be hesitating to attack some, and that his ceiling is still so far away!
This kid is going to annoy the crap out of opposing fans in the next few years!

@nuleafjhawk So Scott Drew has more losses in Allen Fieldhouse than Bill Self does?

@bcjayhawk Zackly!

just don’t laugh to hard lol. - - but since you DO laugh remind me again where that program was at BEFORE Drew got there ? - A lot more can be accomplished of OUTSIDE of how he has played against us. - it’s ok to give some props - you ought to try it , you might be like Mikey - -Mikey likes everything.
It’s really ok to acknowledge another programs progression other then our program. - Drew has brought that program along ways. - they were speaking as much last night during some of the games being played - - it’s ok really lmao
-
for the one’s that Drew is under achiever , how he hasn’t made this team better, and we all know Bill owns Drew at the Phog we all know that. - Kind of like Jay Wright owns bill.
Anyways for people who thinks he has done nothing for their program, let me just ask what kind of weed you been smoking?
Has 4 top 25 wins already. - - beat Villanova when they were ranked 17th 87-78. - - Beat Arizona when they were 12 th - 63-58 ( Side note ) - Arizona just beat # 9 Oregon at Oregon. - -Beat Butler when they were ranked # 18th. - -Butler’s only loss and now ranked 6 th - - and just beat # 22 Texas Tech, Again you can’t just look against KU and Bill and say he has underachieved. - Where were they at BEFORE he got there.
I he was such an under achiever, tell me why he is tied with Bill for the longest Tenure at Baylor ? - -in his 17th year at Baylor tied with Bill at 17 years at Kansas. - Don’t be to proud and have the glasses to thick colored Crimson & Blue to give some credit where credit is due. If your unwilling to do that , then we are no better then other people out here saying Bill is a big time under achiever for his failures in the tourney

@jayballer73 I don’t like Scott Drew. I don’t like Bruce Weber. I don’t like Gregg Marshall. I will never applaud them or cheer for them. I don’t care what their rags to riches stories at crappy colleges are.
Be on the Drew bandwagon when Self is no longer here. He wouldn’t last 6 months before he was run out of Lawrence.

your just bitter man. -you laugh much dam dude I don’t cheer for them either - -I am not a fan of their’s either. - But I’m smart enough to give props and acknowledge. - I know a lot of so called crappy Colleges to be 12 and 1 and ranked 4th in the nation. - -Holy crap I’m not looking to marry them or go out on hot dates with them. Drew has help that program tons.
I can’t stand Marsha either but he get s the job done. - -Nobody asking you if you like them or not - -you don’t have to like them, just acknowledge that he has improved this team period

Oooh this is really good line. Don’t think I’d bet it but KU does match-up well with Baylor.

thats about where I was figuring about 6-8

Interesting match up for sure, Drew had gone away from his text book zone a fair amount this season. The question is will Baylor finally do something as a top 10 against Kansas? I hope not

Drew has only run 21 possessions of zone this season , He now has a squad of players that are quick and can defend better in man to man then zone
-
@jayballer73 Drew obviously has done great things for that program. My feeling on him has been that in the past he has identified under the radar talent, should be given credit for developing it, but has under achieved during the season much of the time…losing to teams he should have beaten too many times. I think that is changing now and his teams are getting more consistent. We have handled them pretty well…even in Waco. Self’s teams have attacked their zone pretty well in the past, I believe. I think he is getting better as a coach. Identifying that this team can play M2M and doing quite well at it is proof of that. IMO.

Well just thought I would pass on statement/tidbits I heard of the Baylor podcast this morning, found SOME things pretty interesting, see what you think : So , First they was talking with Jarod Butler saying they had heard him say that how it really bothers him about them never winning here at the Phog - -we he says ya it has how they have kind of had this game circled on their Calendar.
What they’re media people/people who call they’re games and such they thought Baylor would be testing KU’S depth. they feel like once they get past McCormack & Moss off the bench they just don’t trust KU’S depth. - - Really ? hmmmmm, No mention of umm Christian what so ever.
They say that got a lot of confidence if KU plays two Big’s that they will be able to offense that with Bamba & Clark. They said Devon Dotson is very talented, & though Mitchell would be matched against him , talking about how Mitchell has really been able to defend other teams best players. Talking about they think Mitchell can be Physical with Dotson and may cause Dotson problems, they seem to be worried more about Oachi – really talking up how they like Mitchell against Devon.
One thing they did say about how talented KU is that they said that Ku other then Duke is the ONLY team in College Basketball that is in the top 11 both in Offensive & Defense effiecency I know not spelt right sorry.
They think Baylor’s depth gives Baylor a decided advantage, They also made a very sweet statement ( cough cough ) one of them said was just curious how Coach Self would be if he didn’t cheat. - - If he didn’t pay players, but then turned right around and talked about they thought Self was still a really good Coach.
They thought that the matchup that they thought could come down to deciding the game very well might be will be Oachi and Teague, they might not be to far off on that. Also talked about that if they can turn KU over about 15-20 times they ha a very good shot at winning and how wll they pressure the ball on the perimeter , of course they brought up how we turned it over 28 times against Duke, what they DIDN’T mention was that was the 1st game of the year and we still about had them.
Scott Drew said not very often you get to showcase two top five teams, and very seldom that you have a team that has BOTH great Guard play and inside play and said KU has that. Drew also would come big into play saying they can’t give up 2nd chance points , and fast break points. - saying their losing streak has to and will come to and end some time - -might as well be this year - can’t turn the ball over. - -So there you go guys interesting. – not ONCE did these give or spill ONE word out of their mouth about Braun hey are more worried about Moss and Garrett.
-
It’s ok they always lose here
-
I’m sure it’s bothered a ton of players that they never win at AFH.
-
I always wonder if KU will choose to guard Baylor’s best 3 point shooters, Butler 35/87, 40% and Bandoo 17/40, 42%, or just hope they miss. Teague is also a threat: 28/81, 34%. Big 12 guards don’t seem to be intimidated playing in AFH at all. Oh Lordy, this is going to be a nervous game for me.

then you also have to ad Meyer that comes off the Bench

@jayballer73 I am thinking this comes down to whether we can shoot the 3 decently vs. how they do?
