You got it. Anyone care to take bets? Gonzaga is paying bigtime. And they don’t have to worry, because image, name and likeness - and no legislating body including that of Kansas’ can for long stop it - will soon be nationwide. It is quite obvious that the NCAA (headquartered in KC) concentrates mostly on the midwest - and yes, I stand by that statement. Arizona would’ve gotten off too, but they made it too easy.

@Marco NIL isn’t something that’s going to help a school like Gonzaga because it’s nowhere close to a major city (Spokane is about double the size of Lawrence) so the marketing opportunities won’t be there as they would be at a place like KU which also has a huge presence in KC. A place like KU isn’t even going to see the full benefits of the NIL ruling unless the NCAA puts a cap on how much a player can earn in endorsements. Schools in or near places like Los Angeles, New York, Miami, and other marketing capitals are the schools most likely to see an uptick from NIL situations.
The Supreme Court isn’t too far away from making a ruling in the Alston v. NCAA case which will put the NIL situation under federal law. The Kansas state legislature was absolutely right for vetoing the NIL bill within the state because it was bundled with the transgender kids in sports bill. Those two issues had no reason to be bundled together and needed to be legislated upon separately.
Also, the NCAA hasn’t been headquartered in KC in over 20 years.

Believe Hickman wanted to play closer to home and given the year Gonzaga had this year I don’t blame any kid that wants to join that culture. They are ‘the’ school right now.

Ya I kind of figured with all the wild happenings with commits - -someone was not sticking. - -So we have this possible Scenario , if he is making comments he wants to come back , then Martinquite possibly stays in the draft and Ochai comes back. - -I’ve always give Martin probably 50/50 at best actually showing up on Campus, The better scenario then I guess would be Wilson stay in and Martin both coming back that would be Sweet. - Would hate to lose Jalen but of the two scenarios that would be by far the better one

Martin has already been added to the roster
Doesn’t mean squat. Like has been said he could very easily just be using this as a back up plan. - -just because he is added on the roster isn’t worth the paper that it’s printed on. If he wants to stay in the draft just because he is on the roster doesn’t mean squat

Well reading off TOS that Petiford has 3 torn ligaments - - I guess in his ankle. Anyone else hear this it was coming of Tiptons - if that’s the case he now becomes a medical redshirt no doubt.

Yeah Jalen has never been in doubt. Ochai is a fairly recent development however.

Well Curry leaving doesn’t change it at all.
Dave and Jalen start and I bet we play small ball when Jalen sits. Dave will be our most important player on the team BY FAR because the back-up 5 situation is not great. Just trying to piece together minutes when he sits.

it might come down to Mitch backing Dave again or Martin I know Martin’s defense from everything I’m hearing is well - - - - - - let’s just say suspect to say the least. Yet some spot minutes might be able to get away with

The staff does not want to play Mitch much is what I’ve been told. The main reason they went after Cam is they were worried none of the new guys would be good enough this year to unseat Mitch. Will be something to follow this season, as back-up 5 is looking like the weakest spot on the team.

Unerstand. So just another big reason again Dave has just got to avoid getting into foul trouble. That kind of situation can be a bad thing too. If Dave knows he has to avoid that foul trouble , it may hinder him being able to play freely, maybe cause him not to do things. On the other hand IF Cam could just play some resemblence of defense would be good, with him being able to really stretch the floor pull opposing bigs out because of his outside shooting. - -Having said that I STILL think I would rather go with Dave avoiding the foul trouble then have to rely on Cam trying to play defense

Or we just blow opponents out by 20+ and the issue becomes a moot point.
