@BeddieKU23 I think he is a solid player, but we need another guard. At a minimum we need a replacement for Garrett.
Ryan on the Phog indicated the staff is still really high on Harris. Really good chance he’s here for 4 more years and I think he has a role this year while slowly learning how he’ll possibly take over Garrett’s spot after the season. Unless Self lands himself a top level PG like he did Dotson to come in right away it makes the most sense that they are content to let Harris develop and become a starter.

I think it’s fine if Harris starts. The best case scenario with returning players leaves KU with three guards. Harris, Bryce and…Jossell. Braun, Ochai and Tyon could fill in but you really want a third guard other than Jossell. I can see where it would be tough to recruit even normally w/o the NCAA crap as other coaches will say everyone is coming back. Other than getting a guard out recruiting has lined up well with players that are for sure leaving. Clemence in for Silvio and KJ in for Mitch.
-
I would absolutely prefer another guard that’s interchangeable on the perimeter. The rug fell out from the Hickman recruitment, Bates did his thing and Salis is being pushed in other ways so it is what it is there. Missing on Hickman is a major loss, I personally thought his game was terrific. Maybe the staff finds something in the Spring or pushes the transfer market for an upperclassmen. The recruiting cloud isn’t going away anytime soon and I wouldn’t count out Braun becoming a go-to perimeter guy by Jr season. I think he has the chance to surprise the fanbase the way Marcus developed himself into a dependable PG option last season. Things have a way of working themselves out. I hope the recruiting losses on the perimeter are replaceable.

Offer should be coming, KU is in contention with Syracuse and Alabama.
-
Gayle is very good, reminds of BMac
-
@BShark Man, a 6’6 PG.
-
Offered Mark Armstrong, a guard out of Jersey.
-
New offers: Mor Seck, Noah Shelby.
-
Some other names to check in on these kids has KU lister in their 5 schools of interest.
Amari Bailey # 4 in the 247 & # 5 by rivals ( Chatsworth CA ) 6"4 CG looks like UCLA maybe the lead
Kijari Wright #10 in the 247 & # 11 rivals ( LA CA ) 6’9 PF
Keynte George # 12 in the 247 6"4 SG ( Lewisville Tx ) I think
Bryce Griggs # 22 in the 247 6"3 Combo ( Sandiego CA )

Good sign to at least be making final 5s on elite players. Believe recruiting can get back on track after NCAA crap.
-
Like where we stand on that list too.

Reclass is on the table there as well. KU would love him in either.
-
Offered Mady Traore. Was hoping KU would get in on him. Unranked but offers from Arizona, KU, Auburn…
-
Mady Traore 6 '11 wing - - a kid who loves the 3 - - -shoots it pretty decent , needs some mass , 6’11 & 195. Orginally from France - now in Virginia.
7’3 wing span - - 9’5 standing reach - - -39 inch vertical - - -12’8 jumping reach.- - Coach and Co suppose to have a Zoom with him tonight so I read anyways. - someone to keep an eye on. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

From the shirt he’s wearing i can’t imagine we are serious players there…

You can’t win any of these recruitments if you don’t try.
-
To add, I always wonder if the coaches go in thinking they have no shot due to AAU or shoe co
-
@BeddieKU23 Good point, and you are right. But coaches from schools non-affiliated will offer scholarships anyway just to make sure that the favored schools put in the work, if nothing else. It also allows them to zone in on their true targets, while hopefully preoccupying their competitors elsewhere. Damn near militaristic, but effective.
-
Well can’t say the Staff isn’t putting in work. - Went through the rankings of 2022 recruits from 247 sports went through top 60 ranked kids,
At this point where the kids list their top five schools at this particular point KU is listed by the following players as one of the kids top five Schools of interest : # 4 - – # 6 - - -# 10- - # 12 - - # 13 - - -# 21 - - - # 29 - - # 30 - - # 31 - - # 37 - - & # 44
So we must be still getting kids attention we just HAVE TO FINISH on some of these kids.
So of particular interest as I know at one point anyways heard we were right there with a couple of these kids - -does anyone know any more how we stand with Mark Mitchell & Grady Dick ?
Would be interested in a couple of others if anyone know or has heard anything and they are : # $ ranked kid Amari Bailey a 6’4 CG out of Chatsworth California. - - He has us listed along with UCLA , Alabama , Depaul , Illinois - - - Then the # 30 ranked kid Vince Iwuchukwu a 7 footer C out of LaPorte Indiana ? - he has us listed along with – -Baylor , Purdue , TCU , Texas , & KU - -looks like he wants to stay right here in the middle of the Country with those choices - - - -Anybody help ? - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Grady just updated his recruitment. KU vs Baylor battle really. Alabama also probably rounds out the Top 3. Hopefully with Covid and his connections to the program he stays local.
Not expecting KU to be serious with anyone in the Top 20-25 recruits. Just the way it is right now.
Hoping they keep after Rylen Griffen #46, SG out of Texas
Aiden Shaw out of Blue Valley sits at #77 and should be someone they look into.
-
He is a must get, being as talented as he is and from Wichita.
-
One to watch. Potential reclass. He’s got a lot of traits Self likes. Combo guard, stupid athlete. Very good defender. Shooting is meh. https://247sports.com/Player/Kyle-Cuffe-Jr-46086980/

I know rankings are crap with covid but there isnt another athlete at 6’2 in high school that can jump like that. I don’t understand the 100 ranking on athleticism alone

Sounds promising. He’s definitely on the want list. Deciding by end of 2020 and could reclass. I hope they are pushing hard on him

KU seems to be in the thick of things with 4 star PG Mark Armstrong. The NJ prospect is 6’2, 160 pounds. 247 has him as the #40 player but the composite has him sitting at #130. Guess one of the services hasn’t ranked him yet. Rutgers, UConn, Louisville, Stanford also involved.
Kansas: “Their main message was basically like Rutgers’ besides playing for your state. Just coming in and being a main piece for the team. Nothing is guaranteed but they said I have the chance to be a main part and that they are very interested. Hearing that was amazing because it’s a wonderful opportunity to have a school that you watched when you were younger to be recruiting you. I watch all these guards ahead of me so for them to be interested in me says a lot and I’m very grateful to be in this position.”
-
KU one of 4 programs prioritizing 4 star 6’11 forward Mouhamed Gueye of Prolific Prep California. Ranked #36, has only been in the states about a year…
Kansas: “They send me stuff every week about the school. Their main message is that they want me there and they just want to get me better. I kind of knew Kansas before I got here too. I used to watch them because they have a lot of African kids, and now they have big time players in the NBA so that stands out. They develop their players really well. The names that stick out to me are Joel Embiid and even Andrew Wiggins who I like to watch a lot. The main thing about them is probably the coach and how real he is because he’s not playing around.

you could very well be right - -not saying your not by any means about being serious with anyone in the top 25. Did a little looking with recruits and found that between 247 sports & Rivals KU was either listed as top five consideration or at least mentioned with 10 -25 of the top 25 recruits for 2022 & - -19-50 recruits, so I would say that KU was in at least in decent in recruiting at this stage. Now how things pan out have no idea. All I know a lot of things can happen between now and then - -but 10/25 & 19/50 not to bad at this point.
One I found interesting was # 3 on 247 & 3 5 by rivals was 6’4 CG Amari Bailey out of Chatsworth Calif - -247 had his top 5 at this point as UCLA , Alabama , Depaul , Illinois & KU - hadn’t heard that name mentioned before - - -Another name I hadn’t heard before that is # 15 by Rivals is Sadraque Nganga 6’9 PF out of Phoenix Arizona , someone to keep your eye on & the last one for me might of been mentioned not sure # 11 by 247 & rivals is - - - Kijani Wright a 6’9 PF out of La California has his top 5 at this point as Arizona , Arizona State , Arkansas , California , & KU
I think we might be ok in 2022 hopefully - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Saw off Zags that Kyle Cuffe is announcing on the 19th of December we are in his final 6. Is this someone we would want ?
-
Cuffe is more likely to end up at KSU than KU.
-
Imagine he’s staying east

@BeddieKU23 Staff is selling him big time on player development.

I love this and next year’s recruiting classes, they are bigtime all things considered.

New offer. Could also be a 21 guy. Went up 80 spots in the rankings last update. https://247sports.com/player/jai-smith-46058226/

@FarmerJayhawk Heard he had been really wanting a KU offer. Would be funny to troll Maryland again.

Would like to see what else he can do besides Dunk the ball when wide open. However at his size and athletic ability he already has one skill he does better then Dave

@BeddieKU23 Fair.
One of the 247 national guys just said he loves Kansas. Looking at a list cut soon and KU will not only be there but be near the top. Paraphrasing a bit since it’s vip. Before KU offered Smith himself made strong comments about KU. Think this boils down to how hard KU goes after him. Possible reclass but I kinda figured KU was done for bigs in 21 unless we have an unexpected departure.

well let’s see Mitch is gone , - - -Unless Dave leaves for some reason - that’s about it when you start talking about Big’s now isn’t it ? - -i think we all know Jalen won’t be going anywhere , not after this Season right? - so among the Big’s who else is there big’s wise ? - -Unless Gethro maybe for some reason ,possibly seeing he might be being recruited over possibly and moves on knowing he might be buried right?
I just can’t see the logic in 2021 , KU can still really get after the kid just for 2022 would be a better situation I think. - With us Having Curry , Clemence , & KJ coming in next year I don’t know could be wrong have been known to be wrong before - - justdon’t think 2021 wouyld be a good fit
