@KUSTEVE True… We do… But like yourself I believe that he is all but done playing ball at KU.

I really feel for the kid, hes been here for over a year and a half, yet only played like 20 games. The crime doesnt fit the punishment. I’ve said it a million times so I’ll say it again. The NCAA is the biggest legalized mob outside of the government in this country.
I am one-hundred percent in his court. He was scape-goated, unfairly made an example of with not a shred of evidence, only heresay. The NCAA (wholely independent committee doing the review, my ass) being what it is though, it is all but guaranteed that he will not be reinstated.

Whoa buddy - I am taking exception to that remark - plain and simple - -That’s one of my favorite player - -don’t hate the player - -hate the game - can’t believe someone who is suppose to be a KU fan telling a 18-19 yr old kid who loves Ku and just really wants to play for KU - -you telling him to leave - -That’s pretty JACKED UP padner
not pretty jacked up - -THATS just totally screwed up - and you a KU fan? - -and don’t be coming in and trying to say about OH he knew - -OH he knew - I will call BS on you with that - this kid just wanting to play ball and he wants to play ball at KU - that has to be probably one of the more screwed up posts I’ve seen and your a KU fan? I’,/others are just as frustrated but to just come out and tell Silvio to leave - -pretty much hell why don’t you just come out and say GET THE HELL OUT that’s sad buddy = - - - I’m Done
He is not going to be reinstated. He needs to move on.
Silvio needs to do whatever he wants. There’s nothing preventing him from playing professionally if he withdraws from the draft. There’s nothing preventing him from sitting out next year at Kansas, playing his senior year, and finishing his degree. How many better players are there in the class of 2020 than a 22 year old Silvio? Not many.

There will be quite a few actually, and unlike him they will have played for the past two seasons. It is what it is, and unlike this year’s crapshoot in recruiting his situation is all but guaranteed; i.e. he will not be reinstated by the so-called independent review board.

No, there won’t be. 22 year old Silvio is a surefire 5*, top 10 recruit in the 2020 class. Who would you rather have in 2020-21: Silvio or Walker Kessler? You’re acting like he’s just been sitting on the couch for 2 years. He’s been in the best S&C and nutrition programs in the country and been coached by a HoF’er. So you’re either saying our entire staff sucks or players can’t improve from age 19-22. If that’s your view, make your case.
I’m saying he could stay and play his senior year. He doesn’t need to be reinstated to play college basketball again. The committee cannot increase a punishment and Silvio still has another year after his current suspension as it currently stands.
-
If something happens and Silvio is free to play next year. Watch out! I have it from reliable sources that he has become a complete beast. He’ll manhandle the entire NCAA field. And to have him beside Doke… We will bully our way directly to the Final Four. We experienced a timid Silvio the first time. He isn’t timid any longer. And he’s even stronger and more skilled. He will dominate everyone in college basketball.
-
@FarmerJayhawk I’m saying that I don’t believe he is going to be sitting on the pine for yet another season and then come back to play his senior year. That’s what I’m saying. Yes, he has talent, which is why he probably will and should leave. If he decides to stick around great, but I don’t see that happening.

Matt was talking on his pod cast the other day and was saying IF Silvio REALLY wanted to – He COULD actually wait around till the 20th of June and see if he heard anything on his appeal. - -that’s a BIG IF
But he could actually wait until then to decide about coming back. - Cause even though he has hired an agent - if he were to go through the draft - -undrafted then he could come back and still be eligible to play
Thing is if they haven’t gotten him a decision before the 29th of May - -WHY would you want to hang around for almost another month on the Chance that they MIGHT overturn the ruling so you were eligible. - - like Matt said if he doesn’t here by the 29th - -Just go GET YOU SOME big boy - -you have to look out for # 1 -they have screwed you around long enough -why wait for ANOTHER month on the assumption that they MIGHT clear you - time to go play - - make you some money

Yeah, the NCAA totally dropped the ball on this one. I honestly thought that the suspension would be lifted. Now, it doesn’t look so good. It is too damn bad, actually, that the NCAA cherry picks - and in the case of De Sousa being totally wrong - its cases. You have Arizona and LSU blatantly violating rules, yet mum… But with De Sousa, who has denied knowledge and it cannot be proven that he is lying they give a two year ban. Nice…
-
Per cbs sports…Devon Dotson mike probably coming back!!!
-
Predicting DD and Grimes will both be back and SDS cleared to play. Going with my gut and my heart!

Only if they sent to official appeal in sooner then we wouldn’t be counting down the days until the 29th. In theory anyways

I’d bet on Dotson being back but not Grimes. Too much damage done and there is too much pride in Grimes’ circle.
@HighEliteMajor If Grimes wanted to come back and was willing to work hard and play the wing I’d welcome him back. Sure sounds like someone involved thinks he is a PG and Self mismanaged him however.
-
@whaleboy Do you have a link? I looked all over CBS, and never found a word about Dotson.
-
@KUSTEVE copied
He’s also the second person with this line of thinking. Sam Vecenie had a draft write-up for The Athletic. It’s premium, but here’s the snippet of Dotson (in particular):
“Devon Dotson, Kansas: Dotson was much more impressive at the combine, which shouldn’t be a surprise given his terrific freshman season. In his second combine game, he had one of the better overall performances by scoring 10 points, dishing out nine assists, and grabbing six rebounds. Still, the feel around the NBA is that teams would prefer he go back to school for a couple of reasons. First, his jump shot just isn’t quite the threat it needs to be from distance to consistent space the floor. Second, he came in a bit smaller in terms of measurements than expected, and they wonder if his body is ready for the rigor of the NBA. Given that teams see him as more of a backup guard now, they’d prefer to get value from him early, and there is some real doubt about if he can provide that now. Given that I don’t think Dotson helped himself enough to push up into the first round, I think he would do well by returning to Kansas for another season. There is legitimate room for growth in his stock if he can become more comfortable in traffic and more comfortable shooting from distance. He’d be a likely preseason All-American because of his talent, playing in a high-profile situation at Kansas for a good team next to Udoka Azubuike. That’s a good spot to be in.”

@Crimsonorblue22 ty…i read that a while back.

@Crimsonorblue22 I read this from Matt Tait today:
Underclassmen have until Wednesday to pull their names out of the 2019 draft pool, therein retaining their college eligibility for the 2019-20 season.
I think they had discussed the idea of a player not being drafted being able to go back to their school, but I don’t think it’s in effect yet. So, if the NCAA does not make a decision on Silvio by next Wednesday, and Silvio doesn’t pull out of the draft, then he will not be able to come back, even if they rule in his favor.
-
@jayballer73 No sir. If Silvio doesn’t pull his name out of the draft by Wednesday, he won’t be eligible to play with us, even if they drop the prison sentence.

I don’t know - - all I might refer you to is Mait Tait’s weekly broadcast on his Rock Chalk Talk he does weekly - -take a listen to that and you’ll hear where he says it - -I’m not gonna say one way or another now - cause could be wrong - -just going off Mait broadcast about the players - - they was talking about RJ - - Grimes and Silvio - you could be right – all I got was how Matt was talking about how he COULD possibly - - - - - ( EDIT - - EDIT – EDIT ) - lol - -wait wait wait. - thinking now what he was saying was Silvio COULD pull ot of the Draft - -and then he COULD still stick around until like the 20th of June and Still be able to come back and wait and see if they cleared him. - - -Yet was also talking about if Silvio went through the draft and DIDN’T get drafted he xould still come back to KU and be eligible - -even though he did have an agent.
Only thing I can tell you again is guy - Is check out Taits conversation on his weekly tale of the Tait/Rock Chalk Talk he did - you can here him talk about and explain it

@whaleboy I missed that whole article. I hope it’s right. i’m deliberately being as pessimistic about this offseason as I possibly can because then I can feel good if something goes right. Dotson would certainly help.

I believe currently, if they in the draft but aren’t drafted, the benefit is that you can also enter the draft the following year, but not return to college… amiright?
-
@Gorilla72 Wouldn’t that just make the player a free agent?
-
@HighEliteMajor - I believe so. Can’t return to college though. I dunno what happens if the player then signs with an NBA team. Playing overseas would work, like it did for Billy Preston. Isn’t Preston eligible for this year’s draft?

@jayballer73 I was quoting Matt, so it’s clear as mud. I did find this, though:

-
@HighEliteMajor I went with what I had .
@BShark The other options make less sense (transfer, Europe, Gleague) so if he can eat some humble pie KU still is best option. Can they accept that? We shall see. Reality is his feedback is gonna be bad as we knew it would.
-
@Gorilla72 I think you can only be eligible for selection once. You can declare for the draft twice, assuming you remove your name the first time as Dotson, Grimes, etc. are going through now. Someone else can chime in, but if you stay in the draft, and aren’t drafted, you are a free agent and not subject to a further draft. That’s what I understand.

Looks like we should have a Silvio answer soon:

For those that don’t twitter, Silvio had his hearing today. “decision in matter of hours, not days”.
Kelli Zinn had to recuse herself from the case. Chair of the reinstatement committee. Due to possible perception of conflict. Zenn is an executive associate athletic director at West Virginia
