You can tell why he’s a WO. Not that it’s a bad thing.
Positives: He seems to fill a hole well. He has a good frame to build on. A couple of positions he could play. Either H-back or LB. He does seem to have good hands. If he were to stick it out all 5 years, he could possibly see the field. He’d definitely looks like he could be a great add for the scout team.
Negatives: Anything outside of the tackles he’s a bit slow to get to. He plays with his pads pretty high for a guy who is only 6’. Something that I’ve found is really hard to teach because it’s just a natural instinct. No matter how many times you drill it at practice, the second the game starts they stand straight up lol.
Glad he’s getting a chance. It’s going to be a ton of work for him to ever see the field, but he wouldn’t be the first to go walk-on to starter.

Clayton is not going to be signing on the early period now. Looks like he might be hoping some SEC schools come calling again. I don’t think he ends up at KU or Colorado.

Both are ways of pulling counters from the next class to this one. A greyshirt is when a kid delays enrollment until spring, so is officially a member of the next class. Locklin was a grey, for example. A blue is a guy that doesn’t visit, but can enroll immediately and count toward the next class. Mike Lee and Akeem Adeneji were blueshirts.

Tbh almost no matter how this class shakes out I’m just excited to have some credibility in the program for the first time in a decade. We actually had coaches visiting schools and players last week giving out 21 and 22 offers. For the longest time Beaty just scoured JuCo’s and, I shit you not, military bases for kids. They’re building this the right way and it’s a great time to be a Jayhawk.

Little bummed this morning. - -I know Les will have a good class - - just 2-3 that had early committed afraid now we done lost them. - -Was really looking forward to have Coleman - - & Scott NOW looking pretty glum about thosetwo , Scot now not signing till late-- Coleman think he is just plain gone. - -Then the other was Clayton , thought we could get him to flip, with him and Pooka being such good friends - he committed to Colorado , now not signing until late.
Some think he is going to end up at LSU - -I don’t think so , with everything being said there. Him stating that he was leaving Louisiana for the last time how he had enjoyed living there , Don’t think he ends up at Colorado either - -I still think he could very well land at Georgia. - They have had a couple early commit but hearing still an option.
Guess we hit the ground running and work hard, these guys will start to see were not such a bad place to come to after all - -Bottom line it’s got to happen on the field to get this going, got to start showing progress - -we put up W’S - people start taking notice. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

The multitude of wideouts is because we graduate a handful next year: Parchment, Naylor, Robinson, Fairs, and Lassiter. 1-2 could move to TE as well. We should hang onto Jones and Caldwell to beef up the D-line. I’m very satisfied with the class so far. Mostly defense, all HS.

Just read the Dual QB has either signed or committed - -3 star Collins - -de-commit - -guess we will find out at 2 when Les has his thing on ESPN plus at 2 talking about our signees

The Big thing that I really like and it is BIG the approach Coach Miles and his Staff has taken. All these kids High School kids , you got to love that. - This Staff has really gotten after it Coast to Coast From California to Florida .
Some very solid pieces , got some special - -got some speed. - Kerishawn Brown OLB -has 4.5 - 40 speed -Johnquai Lewis was mentioned Multiple times.

Disappointed that DE Khari Coleman flipped to TCU, Jaylin Richardson from KC flipped to UNI sounds like to play RB, and we couldn’t flip OL Josh Remetich from Tulane. Looks like a decent class, sucks the only surprises went the other way.

KU pulled Richardson’s scholarship. That is why he ended up @ UNI.

We won’t add on net until 2022. There are 26 juniors and RS juniors that are about to be seniors.

And just to add a bit to that, we’re going to keep borrowing from the next class until 2022. This sophomore class is tiny (combined 12 RS and true sophomores) so we can borrow a few each year and stay in the same zip code on numbers until this sophomore group graduates in 2022, and we’ll make progress toward 85 with the class of 2022.

As it stands KUs class is ranked 45th. (Not bad!) It appears to be an off year recruiting for the big 12 as a whole though -

Too bad the rules are such that KU can’t fill up its roster completely for several more years. It’d be nice if Les could sign 13 juco guys to go with his 25 HS recruits next season to even the numbers out in that (now sophomores) class.

I know we’re petitioning for more counters but it seems unlikely.

@jayballer73 We had 23 seniors this season. If we sign the max of 25 (we most likely do with 18 in the early session) we would net gain 2 players as long as no one transfers. But people also forget that I believe a couple of those seniors we former walk ons and/or actual walk ons that weren’t really D1 guys. Getting 2 or 3 full classes with mostly high schoolers will help a ton.

It’s a long process to even classes back out if you go heavy on juco guys for a couple of years. KU needs to probably sign 20+ HS players every year just to get back to even numbers in 2022.
This class looks good and athletic. They have a couple of local guys that are good signings, although they may only end up representing special teams and depth. Richardson would have been a nice get because he is pretty athletic, but I understand wanting to stay at RB vs. moving to the defensive side of the ball. Either way, KU got more athletic with this group, and that is genuine progress.
Now they just have to do it all over again next year.
