Worst 15-3 Team In The Country vs Boo Birds Game Thread

Was just thinking the last 10 minutes or so finally broke the funk. Time to take that to rupp
-
Lawson is a late second rounder at best and that won’t change next year either. Improving his 3 point shooting might boost him to early to mid 2nd round status next year.
-
Really pleased with the second half, defense was much better. To me it all started with hustling, I dont believe we got beat down the floor at all and we got some transition buckets. Crazy that a team that shot 30 3s and fouled us on purpose shot 4 more free ones than us, Owell survive and improve.
-
Hes not d league or euro ready either. They can draft a name but that’s it
-
8/13 from 3 didn’t hurt tonight

This decent final 10 minutes and the Kentucky game could give this young team some mojo

KU now has 2 wins Texas Tech doesn’t. A home win over ISU and a win in Waco.
-
I’m sure what’s up with Grimes, you could make a strong case for Ochai to start over him. I’m not gonna sit here and beat him up but man we could be so much better if he plays well.
-
Grimes has Tyshawn Taylor syndrome. I don’t get it. Does Grimes think he’s entitled regardless of his play. He needs to get his head screwed on right. I have a good name for him, Can’t Get Right
-
We evened the rebound differential in 2nd half, and we improved our FG%.
-
@DanR I think that was the FT. 6 of 14 from 3.
-
Last 16 minutes were pretty good by this team. Backs were against the wall and they fought back and got the job done. Proud of that effort.
-
@kjayhawks play the guy who looks like he’s been starting all year, IMO. Self might have learned something by expecting Selden to magically produce in games his first 2 years

Yep.
I think he’d be better next year, but retaining Dotson is much more important. I think Dotson is the key to next year’s back court being really good. Sprinkle in some more improvement from Garrett and Ochai.
-
@Big-Clyde52 you are correct! that’s not all that great.
-
@DanR It’s enough tonight
-
@DanR Much better than it has been.
-
One game at a time

It should not be impossible to bottle up what we did in the TCU game and what we did in the last 16 here and reproduce. Marcus going to the hole is really solid, Dedric is the same dude we’ve had all year, plus his 3pt% is starting to normalize. Dotson is still lightning fast and has a ton of upside if he’s encouraged to hold on to the keys and run the offense. Ochai won’t foul out next time, Grimes had a bad game, we didn’t even use DMack, and Charlie and KJ didnt have enough time on the floor to do anything to be meaningful either good or bad. This is very reproducable with a lot more upside to it.

You know my record here?
-
Gotta stop and pick up my dog
-
@Crimsonorblue22 you undefeated?
-
@DanR could streak, done that before! Long story
-
haha, happy Bill.
-
Undefeated
-
That’s why I’m doing the down and back
-
“… but we need to get the wheels back on.” - Happy Bill.
Translation: “I still like our upside”.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 TMI.
-
@approxinfinity KJ actually provided a decent spark tonight even with his few minutes. Good sign too.
-
@DanR Word, I probably missed the bulk of his minutes when I had to rock baby. Need to rewatch the turnaround 2nd half.
-
@approxinfinity I admire your priorities
-
I’m so glad we didnt giftwrap the Big 12 for Iowa State tonight. Send the ketchup and mayo boys home hungry.
-
@DanR Agreed KJ is Jamari Traylor to me he can turn the game hustling but is only effective in short spurs. I thought Self did a much better managing his time tonight.
-
Who are we rooting for tomorrow? Kitties or Tech?
-
@DanR Sounds pretty screwed up to me. or . . . How to choose?..

I’m cheering for Tech.
-
Seems like a big difference between 5-2 and 4-3 in the standings right now. Big win.

@DanR it depends… my priorities go like this…
KU first 24 minutes of game < baby < KU last 16 minutes of game.
I just didnt know the last 16 minutes were coming.
-
@approxinfinity Good choice! Sometimes babies, even if totally nuts, are easier to deal with than the endings of games.
Especially when, upon calming down, they just give you the sweetest innocent look and your heart melts.
When did anyone’s heart melt looking at a player who had been driving you nuts?
-
@mayjay what if my baby is a future Kansas player that is driving me nuts…
-
@mayjay Tyshawn made my heart melt a couple of times. He was adorable.

point plankin!
-
@tundrahok Well, okay, but wrapping him in a blanket and cuddling would likely not have gone well.
-
Usually they grow up so fast, but that was not the case with Tyshawn

PHOF lolol
-
Drove us all nuts at times too
-
@approxinfinity By then you will be a typically frustrated angry parent who cannot remember your heart melting.
-
KU 10+ points, 8+ assists, 0 turnover games since 2010-11
Devonte Graham on 11-18-16 against Siena
Devon Dotson tonight

Made his momma’s heart melt.
