Other Games Tonight
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich was just discussing this earlier today in reference to UVA. Unlike Duke, Bennett and co. Are scheduling decent midmajors like Morgan State, at least ones that have recently been successful. Very Selfian.

Actually I just looked at Duke’s non con and its much better than years past. High ceiling, low floor. 4 teams that are creampuffs, but 4 in top 13. http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/team/schedule/_/id/150
-
Texas just lost at home to VCU and Okie St lost at Tulsa. Two more bad losses for the conference.
-
@Woodrow his seat getting hotter? I heard them talking about his claim to fame win at the start of tonight’s game. How long can he ride that?

KU should slice through the league again. KSU and ISU maybe the only truly tough opponents.

Good point.
Another convenient scheduling tool I noticed. After their game against Texas Tech on the 20th, they have 16 days off until ACC conference play opens…
-
@BeddieKU23 It is important for the visuals in televised games. The more affluent student body found in certain schools needs the longer break for trips to Europe and Aspen and St. Barts.
-
@BShark I’d throw in Tech. I really like what Beard is doing there , but I’d be surprised if KU doesn’t win the league by 3 games or so.
Big game tonight for the Clones. They are at Iowa.
-
TCU has Fisher & Noi back. They got a road win at SMU last night and I’d be surprised if they don’t look like a Top 25 team going into conference play. Iowa St, Tech, TCU will be the 3 that can challenge KU this year. OU looks improved as well and probably is better then Texas at this point.
-
Tech will definitely be in the conversation, Beard has done a great job getting the team ready considering the personnel losses after last season. TCU and Oklahoma are also surprisingly good so far. On the other hand, West Virginia looks pretty bad and Texas is also under performing which seem to be normal for Smart; the loss to VCU must have really stung.
The Big 12 will once again be a strong if not the strongest conference in college basketball, MSM ACC bias notwithstanding. The top 6 teams in the conference are a combined 41-4; the top 6 team in the ACC are 45-6 and the top 6 in the Big 10 are 46-7. The latest Bracketology has 7 conference teams in the Tournament withe TCU in the last 4 out which makes it a potential 8 teams. TCU will likely replace WVU and 7 teams is realistic with Baylor WVU and OSU likely out.

The big 12 suuuucks this yr.

Not so fast as Lee Corso says. I forgot K-St as well. I think with KU’s struggles/doke’s injury this team will be in a dogfight for the Big-12 Championship. I don’t think we have shown yet that we are capable of running away with anything. We’ll see if that changes in a month and the Nova/ASU games will tell us more about this teams identity and where its going moving forward

KSU faces Tulsa Saturday afternoon. In December 2017, KSU lost to Tulsa 61 - 54. Tulsa may give the kitties a game.
-
I watched the second half of the Gonzaga- Washington game and Gonzaga barely got away, at home, with a Hachimura basket at the buzzer after being up by 11 with 5 minutes to go. Gonzaga’s interior defense was not good and Washington penetrated and scored consistently. Gonzaga played only 7 players and the bench played a total of 28 minutes and contribute 9 points and I am sure they are missing Crandallr; frankly, I am not sure how they beat Duke.
-
Gonzaga played to their ceiling against Duke. I watched the game last night and it seemed they got a little tight late. Of course they are shorthanded right now and Washington made plays to get back in it.
-
Gonzaga looked tired and lazy last night and Washington is a decent team. I don’t think Duke is quite as good as everyone thinks either; they were only up 33-24 at halftime against Hartford (3-7) at Cameron. Gonzaga has a depth problem with Geno Crandall and Killian Tillie out right now. When they’re healthy I think they’re as good as anyone. I don’t think Gonzaga’s game last night was any worse than KU’s game against Stanford. Washington is better than Stanford.
-
Really looking forward to the neutral-site game between Tennessee and Gonzaga on Sunday. It will give us a chance to see how good KU’s win over the Vols really was. And the Williams, Schofield/Hachimura, Clarke matchups should be a lot of fun.
-
The only difference is that the MSM is calling Gonzaga a finish product while KU is a work in progress and not even close to its ceiling except for a few spurts here and there.
-
Iowa St is getting drilled at Iowa. Clones were actually favored in this game.
-
All of the shots Iowa missed against Michigan St. they are making tonight against Iowa St.
-
FWIW, Wofford scores 112 points tonight vs Kentucky Christian. It’s just two nights since scoring only 47 vs KU. Heck, they scored 59 in the first half alone!
Musta been mad, tonight huh? (Yeah, I know there’s a bit of a skill level difference between KY Christian & KU… )
-
OU piss pounded WSU.
MSU beat Florida.
Seton Hall just beat UK and the Rupp refs in OT.
Good day so far!
-
Uh Oh Cal gets beat by Seton Hall - -oh well lmao. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@jayballer73 And a great game. A prayer by SH followed by a bigger prayer by UK to tie in regulation. Couldn’t happen to a nicer team!

And West Virginia beat Pitt.

Seton Hall Kentucky was a great game. Powell shot out of his mind. Washington looked like a legitimate nba talent and Johnson made some clutch shots including a half court one to end regulation to send it to OT. Oh and Kentucky lost. What a day
-
@BeddieKU23 that was one of the better games I have seen all year. Both teams made some huge shots down the end and I thought the refs let them play
-
The UK-Setton Hall game was at Madison Square Garden in NY not at Rupp. Great win for Seton Hall with some crazy buzzer beaters by both teams.
-
Okie St loses at home to Houston.
KSU and Tulsa in a close one in the second half.
-
KState has 33 points at the 11-minute mark in the 2nd half. Is that good?

You missed the joke.
-
KSU loses to Tulsa. They have played two legit teams and lost both games.

Story of my Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuce.

Marquette takes advantage of missed UW FT’s tonight and wins in OT. Howard was 7-29, but got bailed out on a ton of foul calls and to his credit made them. But it’s a good SOS win for KU because Marquette beat two ranked teams this week.
-
@wissox Thoughts on that offensive foul on Happ’s tip in?
-
@Woodrow Bad loss for KSU and the B12. Tulsa lost to SIU, Nevada and Utah. Their only decent wins are against Okie State and now KSU. B12 has taken it on the chin since Thanksgiving. Virtually no quality wins since and a few bad losses.
-
@DCHawker the conference is not very good this year.
-
It’s almost like KU carries the banner for this clown conference every year.
-
Big 12 is a mixed bag at this point. KState, West Virginia have disappointed, but Texas Tech, Iowa State, and Oklahoma have exceeded expectations. Iowa St, especially, when they are healthy will not be a fun team to play against.
-
In all fairness, Marquette missed 7 of its last 9 FTs including 6 in a row at the end of the game and did it’s best to give the game away and Wisconsin just did not capitalize. Happ is a stud.
-
TCU is going to be pretty good as well and yesterday destroyed USC by 35 points.

FWIW, I thought the call was justified. The view from above showed a forearm shove that gave Happ his uncontested path to the rebound.
-
Nubs beat Creighton.
One time KU target Thomas Allen went for 18/5/4/1/1 with no turnovers.
-
@BShark It was the flukest Elite 8 run in the history of basketball.

It was fluky, but flukiest?
Counterpoint: VCU
-
Shaka is still cashing checks based on that one run. Just unreal.
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich Exceeding expectations is relative. OU and TTU have a couple of decent wins each, but other than KU’s wins over MSU and Tennesses and UT’s over UNC, the B12 is lacking top 20 types of victories. B10 and ACC are way ahead in quality wins at this point…
