This was already announced I thought.

The Sprint Center is a great basketball venue and the Power and Light District provides a nice environment for the tournament. With KU always doing well and ISU and KSU fans always eager to travel to KC, the Tournament will always have a decent audience.
A no brainer, really.
-
Turnout in Dallas and OKC was subpar. Makes it pretty easy on the powers that be.
-
Dallas isn’t really that convenient even for the Texas teams, TBH.
Nearly 200 miles to Austin and almost 350 to Lubbock. Fort Worth and Waco are closest, but have the smallest fan bases of the four Texas schools.
OKC isn’t as bad, but again, you aren’t getting any closer to the Texas schools and the Oklahoma schools are the only ones that are relatively close.
KC is closest to the best traveling fans (KU, ISU), and an easy flight for the Texas fans.
-
Also, KC is only 4-5 hour drive from most of Oklahoma…
-
@JayHawkFanToo Ironically live in KS and it’s a 6.5 hour drive.

I have been to the Big 12 tournament in OKC and Dallas. They are not even close to what KC has to offer. Dallas sucks because the arena is not convenient and there is not a central area for fans to hang out. The only positive is the weather. OKC has Bricktown, but I thought it sucked and was pretty boring. KC is just head and shoulders above any other option.

But…if you are coming on I-70 you get to see the windmills in Central Kansas, the military equipment at Fort Riley, beautiful Lawrence and the KU Campus and all the amber waves of wheat in between.
Good places to stop and eat in Salina, Hutch and Wichita, depending on the route you take.
-
Shortest flight for WVU fans too, I’d think. If only slightly.
-
KC is a big hub for Southwest which has the best fares from all the conference major cities; Morgantown to Pittsburgh is only a 90 minute drive.
-
@JayHawkFanToo I think Columbus, Ohio is also a major metro area WVU alum flocks to as well.
-
Either way, I can’t think of a reason it doesn’t make sense.
-
@dylans You really should try moving to civilization.
-
I don’t think his job moves well to the city

@Crimsonorblue22 Where ya been? Visiting Jaybate?
