I believe fans have also checked out from so called life.

@BeddieKU23 Interestingly I really don’t care too much about late night! It was a cool event in 1986 when I attended my first, but it doesn’t mean that much now. I guess a month ago when I first posted this it seemed like a target to look forward to but now I’m really counting days til there’s real action!
-
I just can’t get enough KU Bball. Even when the Chiefs are doing what they’re doing, KU Bball is the top thing on my mind. AND WE AREN’T EVEN STARTED YET!!

Kansas hosts long list of high-level recruits
The biggest weekend across the country takes place in Lawrence. Late Night at the Phog is generally the focal point of Kansas’ recruiting calendar in the fall, and this year is no exception. Bill Self is welcoming a slew of top targets, starting with No. 1 senior James Wiseman.
Wiseman’s recruitment is viewed as a Memphis vs. Kentucky battle, but he and his family have insisted all along it’s not a two-team race and other schools are in the mix. Kansas is one of them, and Self will get his shot this weekend. Five-star guard Cassius Stanley (No. 25) cut his list to three schools last week, leaving UCLA, Kansas and Oregon vying for his services. USC was left off the list, to the surprise of some. There’s no clear leader of the three remaining schools, but UCLA quietly has some momentum.
Another key visitor and longtime target is in-state center Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (No. 38). Robinson-Earl grew up less than an hour from campus and his father played at Kansas for Roy Williams. He is now at IMG Academy (Florida) for his senior season, but Kansas is still in solid position. His recruitment is shaping up as a Kansas-North Carolina battle, and he visited Chapel Hill last weekend.
While those three are the ones to watch in Lawrence this weekend, there’s much more. Elite junior R.J. Hampton (No. 7 in 2020) will take his official visit after going to Memphis two weeks ago, and recent commit Christian Braun is also expected on campus. ESPN 100 forward Chandler Lawson (No. 58) and his younger brother, five-star sophomore Johnathan Lawson (No. 21 in 2021), will be at Late Night (their older brothers, Dedric and K.J. will suit up for the Jayhawks this season), and 2019 forward Anthony Walker and five-star junior N’Faly Dante (No. 13) are also taking visits. Kansas football coach David Beaty said earlier this week that rapper 2 Chainz is set to perform.
James Wiseman prediction: Memphis Confidence level: 55 percent Others in the mix: Kentucky, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Florida State
Cassius Stanley prediction: UCLA Confidence level: 40 percent Others in the mix: Kansas, Oregon
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl prediction: Kansas Confidence level: 60 percent Others in the mix: North Carolina, Arizona, Notre Dame, Villanova

@wissox I’ll care for you. And you can read the Street and Smith for me…lol.
-
@dylans from their confidence level they put out , looks like Cassius is still pretty wide open. Think we have a very legit shot if you believe in what they are putting out. Getting hyped up - - - -just got my ESPN plus ordered so I can watch it - - - -kick back eat my Lasagne drink my tea and sit here at my computer and take it in lol. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Lots of yakking…let’s see the guys play…
-
Wait for it
-
@Crimsonorblue22 i don’t have much choice.
-
@KUSTEVE Same crap every year lol
-
@BShark We’re going to have to time this out better. Next year…tune in an hour and a half after it starts…
-
Ok…make it two hours after it starts…
-
Nope…3 hours…
-
I think it’s fun
-
Are you guys 90?
-
If the students and recruits like it, I’m good with the format!
-
I’m happy Cox didn’t stop at 9. I loved Selfs skit, alright,alright alright. I’m a fan
-
Bill has slimmed down a lot. I figured that was the inspiration for the Matthew McConaughey Lincoln spoof bit.
-
Good one!
-
Unfortunately, I’m going to have to lose a few pounds if I expect people to keep mistaking me for Self. (happens about twice a year)
-
@Crimsonorblue22 After watching it, I feel about 100…

Heard 2Chainz killed it, but we didn’t get to see that, we got filler content.
-
@BShark If it keeps going this long, they’ll have to stop Late Night, so they can catch a flight to play Sparty…
-
I see 2Chainz going that long as a positive. People were really into it.
-
He was a bb player, might see some minutes
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Scrubbed out at Alabama State. All rappers think they can ball and all ballers think they can rap.
-
Mad I missed Dotson and grimes intros
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Grimes, Doke and Vick got the loudest ovations.
-
Saw Vick and doke
-
thoughts: - seeing 1st look really at McCormack - just casual when he was playing the drums- - - -Mercy he is a big boy. Mitch? - - they said and I had no idea, Mitch had 54 blocks last season ? - I knew he block quite a few but didn’t realize he had 54. - -Also he took 16 charges - --doing the dirty work… had to laugh at Coach - -making that comment saying that’s exactly what were looking to see KJ getting a rebound - - -dribbling out and shooting a three. – let the Season Begin. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Self was great doing commentary. Very funny, sees the game well.

Ochai Agbaji.
Yeah he’s good. Team is too deep this year for him to get many minutes but he should be a real factor as early as next season.
-
I’m ticked my ESPN app quit during the intros, I was able to watch the rest. Man I hate the scrimmage, lol it’s the same as most years guys just running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I’m like Self sitting here critic it. Now we have to wait 27 days to play
-
Be hard to keep everybody happy. That’s what worries me.
-
We made it out healthy. Great event all around.
-
-
There’s not alot to be gleaned from the short scrimmage. I thought Vick, KJ, and Silvio looked the best. I thought Devon looked very impressive. No way do I see Charlie being a roadblock for him, as I have speculated before. I think Mitch got his 3 ball card pulled last night. Dedric forced several shots, but he put together a real nice shot near the end that hints how good he can be. Quentin had some nice moments, although he missed a bunny. I noticed he races to the basket on every missed shot, so he could be a real nice secondary rebounder. Talented team…sloppy, sloppy team. It’s early…they’ll get better.

Yep. Can’t play 12 guys. And unlike a lot of schools the 11th and 12th guys are 4* recruits.
-
The scrimmage is always rough. Self never has his system installed because they never have practice ahead of time, until the last couple of years. It’s also an event where you don’t want any injuries to occur so even if Self had his system in place, I doubt there would be any defense played on this. It’s just a chance for the players to show off different facets of their game for the crowd.
-
Even the walk ons can shoot
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I liked the fact that Vick calmly sank the first shot of the game…a 3 ball. Leadership…
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 You’d think the returning players wouldn’t forget every set over the summer though. You are right it’s the same every year. Exception being that time JoJo messed around too much and actually got chewed out by Self for his Late Night performance. Gotta be a first.
-
If Bill wanted them running sets that’s what they’d be doing. It’s just a show.
