KU Buckets Tournament Challenge!

What I like about the bracket is all the blowhards that have been trying to sell everyone their position as fact (and are more than happy to tell you how wrong you are) are getting ready to have their brackets destroyed by someone choosing teams by mascot/ team color. Or a layman whom doesn’t tell everyone how bad their picks are, just silently lets his bracket do the talking.
I love a good natured ribbing, a fun competition, and maybe a little gloating (very little) afterwards. All the bracket experts crack me up with their predictions. Unfortunately I haven’t watched enough college basketball this season to be a bracket expert for you, so look for advice elsewhere!!!

I even picked the Jayhawks to win it in 1989 so you know who I’ve got.
We would have won if they’d let us in!

Actually that was probably about the weakest KU team that I remember since I came to KU in 85!

@DanR If you use the ESPN tournament challenge app you can go to your brackets and change or join a group for new brackets or ones where you were not able to join. You might have to search for the group name, then click on join group when it is displayed. KU Buckets, with a space.
-
Bump, 2+ hours to go until brackets are locked.
-
Looks like only 37 brackets so far. Some unusual names out there!
-
I’m going to follow Dr Rec and fill out the bracket after the games. Less stress and way more accurate.
-
Can’t fill bracket anymore. I had family in town for the last week visiting for my father’s 93rd birthday and I have not been able to do much. By the time I got around to get to ESPN it was tool late.
-
@JayHawkFanToo Congrats to your Dad!
-
Locked and loaded. Good luck all!
-
-
Thanks.
-
MISSED IT THIS YEAR. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Are any of the 6000 perfect brackets left from the Buckets crew? I know the one I entered had AZ in the final four (most of my brackets had VA in the final four - poor guess on which bracket to use) and all of them had Miami winning the first game. —Both reasons why I don’t give betting advice.
-
Looking at the leaderboard no perfect brackets left in the buckets group.
-
I am oh so briefly in first place, please send me a trophy before the cookie crumbles.
-
I’m in a 3-way tie for 5th after the 3-way tie for 1st.
-
I’m in first for now but my bracket is insane and I’ll probably end up closer to last when it is all said and done lol.
-
I only entered my first bracket on here, I didn’t want to flood the place with brackets!
My best bracket has only AZ and WSU wrong (for now…). I must’ve accidentally picked KSU. It’s still ranked 12,000th on ESPN. There are some really amazing brackets out there!
-
@dylans that’s pretty good, the best I ever did was 2012. I had 6 of 8 elite 8 teams, 3 of 4 FF teams right to go with the title game and NC. I believe I finished in 800s of the millions of brackets on ESPN. I usually fill out 4 brackets, 2 of which for money. I have won one 4 of the past 5 years. I fill everyone out night and day different, last year I won my wife’s pool at work. It had nearly 300 people in it and it was for a gift card but was free to compete.
-
@dylans et al. if you have better brackets you can still add them to the group; please do! I’d rather see everyone’s best than limiting it to one broken bracket.
-
@approxinfinity Eh, I’ll wait until the sweet sixteen and see if I even care at that point.
-
Didn’t predict Virginia becoming the first 1 seed to lose to a 16 in any of my brackets. Tough way to pick up your third loss.
-
-
I am sure lots of brackets busted.
-
The crash of the bracket- now I can focus on the KU game!
-
No perfect brackets left on ESPN out of 17 million. 4 with 1 loss, 86 with 2.

None of my brackets are going to be worth a crap after Saturday. A couple in the 100th percentile for now though at 280 points. They are currently ranked #1329 on ESPN , #4 on fans of Kansas…, but soon to be in the multi millions.
17,300,000 brackets and none of them perfect after the first round. No one could even predict 32 games correctly. Wow!
-
The line for KU is now -5, up from 4 1/2.
-
• Of the 17.3 million brackets, four have correctly predicted 31 of 32 games … and everyone has at least two right.
• Some 96.6 percent whiffed on UMBC over No. Virginia, but 29.1 percent called No. 11 Syracuse’s upset of No. 6 TCU.
• The teams picked most to win the title now that Virginia (18.5 percent) is out of the way: Villanova (16.3 percent), Duke (9.8 percent), Michigan State (8.6 percent), Kansas (7.9 percent), North Carolina (6.9 percent).
-
ESPN bracket shows only one game scheduled in the Seet 16, next Friday. Looks like Duke and Syracuse will have to get up really early!
-
Must suck for the Hawaii team to travel to all those NCAA games…oh wait.
-
Wow, I have 3 entries and they are tied for 6th! (Thing2 is mine.) Best I have ever done by this stage–usually in the toilet by now!
-
@approxinfinity You wanna hear something crazy? - -I’ve entered ESPN Bracket Challenge like 11 times this year - -well that’s not the crazy thing lol - -But anyways two of my Brackets I’m at a 92.1 % - prediction right - and I am ranked 1,363094- - lmao - -WOW - -and that is with getting 92% right lol -I have a 3rd at a 85.6 % being correct and I’m at 2,486,938 thats just crazy lmao- good thing I’m not betting money lol
-
@jayballer73 I think the percentages are where you stand in the tournament, not your correct picks. 92% means you are in the top 8%.
-
Bell curve does not apply on the ESPN Bracket Challenge. 92.1% = Loser
-
I have lost 5 straight games today. Wow, glad I am not in LV.
-
Lol I appreciate that someone out there had only 2 right the first round. That is someone that should look in the mirror and say “whatever I am thinking I should do the exact opposite” easy fix!
-
@jayballer73 a lot better than me man! All that poking around other teams message boards paid off looks like!
-
@approxinfinity LOL wish it did lol - -I just checked - I have ONE bracket right now that has a 94% accuracy - -guess where that puts me - -sitting in 963,000 position with a - 94% of picks correct - -I give uplol
-
@jayballer73 You didn’t read my last post to you? It is not accuracy, it is the percentile of total brackets. Winner is 100%, last place is 0%.
-
Konate getting T’d up when up 20.
-
What a disappointment for Marshall… This shot at their hated “big brother” in state rivals.
-
@jayballer73 For example, I have missed 18 picks out of the first 48 (counting WVU as correct). That is an accuracy rate of 62.5%, but I have accumulated enough points to be doing better than 76% of the other 17 million. So ESPN has me at 76%.
-
Well here it is – The four regions now:
West - - -you have a 3 , 4 , 7 , & 9. - – - East : - -you have a 1 , 2 , 3 , & 5 - - South : - - - you have a 5 , 7 , 9 & 11 and the Midwest : - - -you have a 1 , 2 , 5, & a 11 - -crazy
-
@jayballer73 And East and Midwest are on the same side of the bracket, so most of the remaining high seeds are in those two. 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 5, 5, and 11.
The other side has 3 , 4, 5 , 7 , 7 , 9, 9 & 11.
-
Well we got an early game Friday - -6:07- -works for me. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Not a good tournament for even numbered seeds. 13 of the 16 are odd numbers.
That said, it has been an odd tournament.
:-p
