Bracket Discussion

Big 12 opens 4-3 imo.

ESPN Bracketology interviewing HCBS right now.

Let’s stop looking ahead to ever games and take the game against Penn one-game-at-a-time

Exactly…when the boys started doing it against OU, we won the conference. One game at a time won the tourney.
-
Not worried about the players. Doesn’t really matter what we, as fans, do.
-
Syracuse in and USC not is a crime against all of basketball.
-
I’d like to see OU go on a nice two game run, beating Rhode Island and Duke, before Trae flames out. That would be funny as hell, considering they have no business being in the tourney.
-
@DanR I could see Grayson flipping out! Ya never know?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I’m not sure if I could watch a game with both Tripper and Trae in it. LOL.
-
Just read Frannie’s twitter dribble on small ball, Hoiberg, and winning the B12. There are Clown fans trying to credit Hoiberg for Self’s use of ‘small ball.’
Hoiberg may have ‘invented’ small ball, but Self WINS the conference and the tourney. So, Hoiberg may have ‘invented,’ but Self PERFECTED it. It’s one thing to use it, and another to master it. Funny how the Clowns try to ‘credit’ Hoiberg for Self winning conference and tourney.

Hoiberg’s daughter goes to KU btw. Self likes Hoi. Contrast to the likes of Bruce or Drew lol.

Nobody wanted boeheim’s cryfest on espn after for not getting in so they pitty pushed him in. Luckiest team in America ever year
-
We expect your usual opponent posting of Providence and others throughout the tourney. Gotta keep that practice as a form of consistency. Don’t break consistency.
-
@BShark Also the Orange in and Nebraska out is a huge robbery.
-
@truehawk93 Hoiberg worked at least 1000 hours helping our team learn this strange new offense…oh, wait…that was Bill. and we’ve seen the 4 out for many years. Does Frannie think Hoiberg invented the 4 out?
-
@KUSTEVE I posted an article talking about how Self talked to Hoi about it. ISU fans are super weird though.
-
@BShark Last place can do that to you.
-
@KUSTEVE Not sold on Prohm at all. He might be a goober.
-
@BShark I think he’s dead man walking…
-
@KUSTEVE He can recruit though. I think they have enough talent next year to roll the ball out there and be in the 3-6 range. Should be enough to avoid the hot seat.
KU is going to pimp slap the league next year of course. Continuing the dominance and going back to a more vintage KU team. Imo anyway…
-
@BShark SHU is a really good team. Didn’t realize just how good.
Tough on D. With Rodriguez, they can score pretty well. Their interior passing is very good. I like the matchup though.
- They struggle to shoot the 3.
- They have to make up for lack of rim protection with hard help D in the post. Leave a lot of open 3s.
- Shallow post depth after Delgado. Definitely lose any inside presence they had.
- The don’t post up well. Posts typically catch it a good distance from the basket.
- Like to run, but struggle to score in transition.
- Their “offense” is 90% pick and roll with Delgado. 10% iso.
- get lost on off ball screens pretty often.
I do think we need a Doke at 70% to be able to handle Delgado though. Mitch and Silvio will struggle to stay out of foul trouble by themselves. Stating the obvious, if we hit our open shots we shouldn’t have a problem. If we see the same Newman we saw the last week, I don’t think it will be an issue. First team to 80 wins.
-
NC State worries me because they can flat score. Several guys can shoot. But they play zero defense. Had several games that they hit everything from outside still lost though because they just couldn’t stop anyone.
-
I think SHU wins that game.
-
It’s going to be a very interesting game imo. Either of them can give KU a game.
-
@blackmild33 ya that will cost you - - good to know Coach Self isn’t letting the guys do that. - - With him already saying that this team has the least amount of room for error. - -we better not be looking past anybody.
I think they shafted Penn by putting them as a 16 seed. - I think they are more along the lines of a 13. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

lol
I mean I guess if we keep seeing a bunch of this crap, it should get the attention of our players.
-
@BShark Hope its all over the lockerroom.
Penn played nobody but Temple and Nova. Played Temple tough but got absolutely ran by Nova.
-
@Kcmatt7 they did lose to Toledo, a team we beat by 40 points. Not that carries a ton weight as early as those games were.
-
Being scared of Penn is kind of absurd. #205 offense on Kenpom. They don’t play slow either, they play at a faster tempo than us. Not saying it would be impossible for KU to lose. They are a bit strong for a 16 seed but not obscenely so.
All this said I guess I predict a loss.
-
KU by 20-30 against Penn. Let’s get serious.
Seton Hall and NC State are legit. That’s a game against two teams that can beat us and have proven as much against other top teams. Doke back would be huge.
-
@BShark Is Penn seeded wrong? Yes, should we be scared of them? Hell No, we have been here before with under seeded 16 in 2013 when beat Western Kentucky by just 7 points. We also barely squeaked by a under seeded 15 in Utah State by 3 in 2003. Even without Doke it should be a double digit win IMO.

agreed. If we play fast, run and gun and defend even decently, this is a 15-20 point win. Only a team with equal or greater athleticism can give this team problems.

First off I love our bracket. Think about it, two teams in the lower half that a lot of people thought might be Final 4 types have a potential matchup in the Sweet 16. Someone is going home early and that’s a potentially key thing down the road. If KU can survive the Mid-West Bracket we potentially might be the best team left standing in the Final 4. We’ll see how it plays out I think we saw fantastic and optimistic play without Doke and I’m excited to see how this plays out. This is a complete 180 from where I thought we’d be coming in after the Doke injury. Self and Silvio worked some magic and here we are with a #1 seed in a favorable bracket for 3 games.
