So first off, I know we aren’t going to get him. Too much moolah. And to be honest, I wouldn’t want him. He wouldn’t be able to recruit the areas we needed him to recruit in the first place.
BUT, he is starting to put together a new staff apparently in preparation of job offers. So, what I was thinking is that there is one school that I could easily see going after him.
Mizzou.
He is the perfect fit for them. He has Southeastern and Texas recruiting connections that they desperately need to open up. He might only be there 4 or 5 more years before he would retire, but he could get them on the right path and really open doors for them they can’t with the current staff.
I hope they don’t. I hope they keep going with their guys and become the laughing stock of the SEC every single season.
Anyways, thoughts?

"I hope they keep going with their guys and become the laughing stock of the SEC every single season." works for me…
-
I don’t know.
You are giving Fizzou an awful lot of credit.
I would instead expect Fizzou to go after someone like Hillary Clinton, or Donald Trump.
-
I haven’t kept up with him too much, but Purdue roomers are flying around here for Les.
-
I bet they give their current coach more time plus no one wants to go to Fizzou its a waste land with only one FB coach to find any type of sustained success.
-
Missouri is not firing their new coach after 1 season. Even they aren’t that stupid.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 Giving Mizzou a lot of credit there I think.
I mean hiring a D2 coach to be the men’s basketball coach to run a P5 program was a pretty awful idea…
Plus I think Les could turn them around faster than just trying to continue the status quo with Odom. And if the thought crossed my mind, I could only imagine what some of the serious boosters have thought after this season.
I mean wasn’t the whole point of hiring Odom was to keep the program in tact. But literally no close losses (minus the homecoming loss to Middle Tennessee and Georgia who lost to Vandy) has got to start looking like the writing on the wall. Why give him another year? This isn’t a “rebuild” is it? I mean I know if we went from being SEC champion contenders to this, we would all be throwing a huge fit.
-
The passed on one William Self, so yes, they are that stupid.
-
@Kcmatt7 is the SEC a P5 in basketball?
-
@JayHawkFanToo And, as Billy (birth certif name) Self said in his book, he took the Mizzou snub personally. Knowing this I directly tried to get under Self’s skin when I was chatting with him about Shaka Smart’s comments–as that is one dude with near-zero cred, that I do not want to see succeed, especially at KU’s expense. Wanted to make sure he knew of them (of course he did), and also to remind him of One Ignominous Moment (MorrisHawks fizzle before Shaka’s mighty legions…lol. (He has not forgotton, and even said, ‘Shaka was talking about us…’ with those Big12 media comments last year.) Thus I now enter into evidence the 30-point beatdown of Shaka in his own gym in Austin, TX last year. Beat both ends so bad cant tell which is which…
Which is the proper order of things. The only thing I want to “translate well” is that Shaka is our b-tch.

@Kcmatt7 I did not call them smart, just not dumb enough to fire a football coach after one year. Especially a football coach that played for Missouri and coached under Pinkel for a decade.
