Svi really looked good guarding Hield outside, but Hield can drive on him. Devonte has to reach down and say he can score on Hield and drive into him.

Shooting %s almost dead even. We have more boards, but many more TOs and fouls. Plus, they have 6 blocks to our 1. Our guards got “sped up” as HCBS often complains of - really first time this year they haven’t played well. Expect that will be softly talked about at in the locker room…

@jaybate-1.0 If coaching duel is code for one team depending on one guy being on fire, while said guy’s team is get every freaking whistle (good and bad), then yeah, it’s coaching. Sadly, the worst part of all of this, if any questionable calls occur in the second half and KU wins, no one will remember the happenings of the first half.
Half time adjustments:
- Graham way out of his element for the moment. He calms down, gets back to normal, and helps set up the snipers, Greene and Selden.
- KU does not lose sight of Hield again, and forces him to operate from half court and secondary break. This comes at the expense of second chance point, but KU not killing the offensive glass anyhow, so it’s a net positive.
- Officials stop holding up Kruger’s and the Sooners’ balls and call the game properly. OU will not be in the Double Bonus in the second half.
- KU keeps up the good ball movement they exhibited in the first half, and with a fair whistle, pull ahead and win by three possessions.

I wouldn’t say poor defense. Nobody is going to shut down OU. To many weapons. Take away the one sides officiating and OU is getting blown out.

@DCHawker I’m not sure why Self recently commented on our guards not having enough turnovers due to not pushing it. I’d rather see them play under more control. Graham with 4 turnovers and most not really forced that I can remember.

Mason is exhausted already he blatantly gave up the 3 that cut it to the 40 38 by standing there.
How do you blow 2 first half leads of 11. Don’t guard buddy Hield that’s how.

If Self can’t stop Hield and get Devonte untracked, then Lon turns it back into an inside rebounding contest and wins.
If Self can untrack Devonte, or untrack Svi/BG, stop Hield, only grind with lead, KU wins.
Lon is in the better position. I predicted OU would win. Hope to hell Self has a rabbit in a hat.

@tundrahok brewed here in spfd, mo. Shut down Hield or not, we can’t win with this many turnovers from our guards who usually protect the ball very well.

Of course they made the wrong call there but it’s a play that almost always goes to the offensive player and that’s just how it is.
