The last two games have been interesting to watch with Peterson back and everyone adjusting to him. In the Mizzou game it was Tre White who had the standout game. Saturday it was Council. Flory and perhaps Tiller are also capable of these kinds of games so that's encouraging to see guys can step up and take over when needed even with the "star" back. We may be seeing actual benefit to Peterson being injured. It's good to know that this team isn't just a 1 trick pony.
They are for sure capable of doing such and thatโs the mark of a great team. Both title teams had 3 or 4 guys
That could drop 30 on any given night. -
NC St was simply able to outbid KU for Williams. KU couldn't compete in the end on whatever final $ he wanted. They certainly tried for weeks to get the funds in place.

We've seen 3 distinct big games from 3 different guys in wins against Tennessee/Missouri/NC St (Jackson, White, Council). In the 3 losses we haven't seen that happen for some reason. Two of the three losses Peterson didn't play which skews the data since the margin for error in beating both of those top teams (Duke/Uconn) was already very low. As long as Peterson is out there we'll get a really good glimpse of how good the "team" is in conference play

We have the 5th toughest schedule overall and the 6th toughest non conference schedule. Our resume rating is based on what chances out of 100 would the 25th ranked team have of matching our current record. They would have a 15% chance of matching our 8-3 record. We have played 6 games against a top 50 ranked team and are 3/3.

@kjayhawks2.0 I've got a book by Howard Cosell titled "I Never Played The Game". I just now noticed that it's co-authored by Darryn Peterson.

We actually have the 2nd toughest schedule per Kenpom of the top 100+ teams (Alabama only one higher). 8 of our 11 games have been against high major opponents. Not sure anyone can match that. Our 3 losses have been against the #3, 5, and 12 teams with a combined record of 29-2. Two of those without our top PPG scorer.
Yes, we haven't demonstrated that we can beat the very top teams, but we can at least hang with them and beat anyone else.
But there is a small margin for error. We need someone to step up every game...

It's even worse than I said? Holy smokes

The fact that we have a small margin for error with someone stepping up every game theoretically should mean we could smash someone if everyone stepped up, right? Second half Miami like. First half UNC like. Hope we dunk all over Hurleys face in the post season.

The 'various heroes' nature of a team is usually a benefit in March, so, Council's game was a very, very positive indicator.
Petersen, Bidunga, White and now Council have been the clutch / high scorer. And let's give Elmarko his due-- he had a sensational game against Tennessee coming off the bench. Whether that's a one-off or not, time will tell. (Unless DP is out, we don't need Elmarko to be heroic, just a solid contributor. But what a luxury is it to know that he can be heroic!)
Nonetheless, that's four of the starters who have been the hero.
Petersen's absence probably skews it a bit, but the last couple of weeks (Vegas tourney and NC State) have made me think ceiling is rising for the team.
Tiller and Jamari have been a pleasant surprise. Also-- Let's not forget about Rosario: He's not getting a lot of PT lately, but this kid should not be overlooked. He made an incredibly athletic play in the NCSt game that tantalized how talented he could be.
