Lance Leipold
-
@approxinfinity I’m just struggling to cope with this past weekend. Losing to them in 23 with a 3rd stringer was okay. Last year I didn’t expect to win but we gave it away. This year we took a giant step backwards. Leipold has been big about closing the gap. We were just as good the last two seasons in football just made silly errors. If we had JD show up last weekend and won Lance would have another full stadium with full support. KSU will be returning several key players including Johnson, Brown, Cure, Edwards and such. It’s very tough to believe we will be able to compete with them within the next two years. The defense wasn’t good Saturday but if the QB plays average and the special teams doesn’t have a fumble we are right there.
-
U think Edwards will be back?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I think so at this moment
-
The rumor forever has been Edwards to USC. I also wouldn’t be surprised if someone dropped a bag for Brown and/or Cure. Just the way it is now.
-
I heard that’s why edwards didn’t play sat. He would lose this yr. Has Cure played much?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 he’s been banged up a little. He also doesn’t really have a position right now. He’s too small to be a complete TE and not athletic enough to be a WR. He was always going to be a bit of a project.
-
@FarmerJayhawk I know he left from the state track meet straight to manhattan and they mentioned he was not 100% then. He did win the 100 meter hurdles. Part of his deal was to run in the state meet.
-
@FarmerJayhawk Brown maybe the best receiver in the B12 this season
-
Was talking with my Dr ( KU Grad ) was talking about KU & Coach L & we both agreed that these People saying fire Coach L-- --Coach L needs fired are nothing but complete idiots-- just idiots.
People saying these things don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground. Oh sure it’s easy to automatically say OH hell fire the Coach-- -fire the Coach like that’s going to solve everything, while in reality all were doing is siting the program just further back all over again. THAT’S not the answer. All your doing is breaking up the Continuity , your killing everything with Coach L has established he has done so much for the University and we are about to just throw it all away.
Coach has brought in better recruits , He knew that in order to compete we as a part needed better facilities that’s all a major piece in recruiting now days we were the laughing stock of the conference the Nation with the old facilities w use to have. Recruits go and see our competition place then come here and see our old piece of crap Stadium we use to have. -Lance is the best thing we have had for such a long time. Yet instead of people realizing this they would just rather blurt out FIRE THE COACH- --FIRE THE COACH.= =Hate to tell you but there is a lot more to it then just firing the Coach.
-
@SlimShaddy54 You need to come out of your shell and say what you really think. Don’t hold back.
-
@nuleafjhawk LOL you can count on it. always been that way , always will people don’t like what I say-- - - -oh well truth hurts some times, I’ll still sleep just fine fluff my pillow, pull the covers up and sleep great. can’t stand wanna be fair weather fans or so called fans just the way it is. Easy out fire the Coach , fire the Coach
-
At least we didn’t hire Matt Rhule, with tonight’s loss he falls to 2-24 vs top 25 teams as a head coach. Still a head scratcher as to why the Panthers hired him after one good year in Waco. I guess you never know people keep hiring Kliff Kingsbury for some odd reason. Dude couldn’t win with Mahomes
-
It’s a time when we need two things simultaneously…. To win games and not break the bank. Neither of these two goals will be accomplished by firing Lance. And no one is going to say he isn’t hustling his butt off. And, if anything, his assistant coaches might need to be looked at more critically since football is largely coached by assistants anyways.
-
@drgnslayr if DK isn’t fired, I’ll be very disappointed. That being said Lance won’t fire him mid season. Best case scenario for us is Coach K returns and he runs the offense together with Coach Z. Then we go out and get a defensive coordinator worth a hoot. We should be plenty good on funds at this time, we have seen over $400 million in donations this season. If we have came close to running thru that we are in very big trouble. I’d like to see more invested in the staff for sure. We have found out this year with Tech what big money can get you players wise. They win the LOS on both sides 90% of the time. Thats were big boy football is played.
-
@kjayhawks lance doesn’t seem to fire guys much. Very much a “keep grinding” guy so I would be very surprised if he fires DK.
-
@BShark I just don’t understand DKs philosophy, run man coverage but line up with a 10 yard cushion on 3rd and 5. If you want to run man you have to be up at the line pressing and getting hands on the receiver. Thats highschool level stuff IMO.
-
@kjayhawks Hell buddy DK- -doesn’t understand DK’S stuff , couldn’t agree more. Hanni & Lawrence were talking about that all day Saturday -he HAS to go
-
@SlimShaddy54 I was never great at football and don’t claim to be a guru like basketball which I’ve been involved in every capacity you can for 30 years. But damn this basic stuff.
-
I played DB and RB (albeit not well) in high school and I do not like DK’s scheme at all. I’m a dyed in the wool even front guy and this team is built for it. Why he’s just like whatever we’ll roll with a 5-2 is beyond me. My guess is he’s infatuated with “creative” pressures and is willing to sacrifice some coverage and gap integrity to make it happen.
-
For one our backs coverage is pitiful they play these guys with almost a ten yard cushion , if they need that much room to cover then --we need a different guy that can pressure in tight -zone coverage sucks we need aggressive rip their head off if they catch the ball instead of coverage where it’s Charmin soft
DK is in over his head totally lost on scheme
-
The guy that ripped off a head has to sit 1st half.
-
I’m hearing Lance has been to Florida this week

-
I think he would be foolish to leave, if he beats KSU a few weeks ago everyone is super happy with him. Even now 5 wins people ain’t on his case. If he goes to a Florida or Wisconsin any thing less than 10 wins is gonna get you fired after a few seasons.
-
@kjayhawks maybe he went to negotiate with Disney for better TV time.
-
I really hope we see LL here one more year at least. I do think they do all the right things as far as running a football program, so the floor is higher than a lot of other guys we could end up with. If he makes a bowl this year he should get two years no matter what. Bowls 2/3 years moving forward should be expectations.
Next steps are really just stacking bowls and beating rivals. We aren’t THAT far from that. Win one of these final 3 games, get that bowl and extra practice. Do it again next year.
You can already see us doing better recruiting locally against KSU. Keep that up for 3-4 years and you’ll see KU take a step up, and likely KSU a step down. Let LL recruit to his new facilities for a few years.
The program is in as good of shape as it has been in 13 years. We just need to be a patient fanbase. I do think we are still on the right track. Progress is unfortunately not linear at times
-
Like I said on another topic with all the big name firing this year so far and we likely ain’t done yet. Some of these schools are going to have to fight to get their 3rd or 4th option at HC. That likely could be Lance in a few places.
-
I can’t blame him, FANS wanted him fired!
-
-
Don’t ask me.
-
I deal with unpleasantries professionally for far less cabbage. Just saying

-
@approxinfinity yes if you can’t take some heat after losing to your rival for the 17th straight time (not all on Lance) then you aren’t in the right profession.
-
I sincerely doubt it’s true. There’s basically no interest between Florida and Lance and a coach leaving the state on a game week is unheard of. Probably just a random Twitter account trying to stir the pot.
