College Sports about to change.

Well College sports as we know it about to change. With this new deal where Schools all looking like they will have to budget twenty Million as they start having to pay Athletes money, pretty much everything changes- - - lot’s of questions still to be answered - -Like Girod said KU doesn’t have twenty Million laying around, neither do many others.
College Athletes now going to be getting paid. Like I saw on Big twelve insider’s today , Athletes now like becoming employees, What do employees want?- -One is representation. , you could see Union for these kids, they are going to want bigger piece of revenue , right now the Pro sport teams get right at 50 % - -College is at like they said 23 %
Talking about how the NCAA is going to have to lower the floor , your going to see Colleges have to start making cuts to sport programs, non money making sports like Swimming , Men & women’s Golf possibly and other non revenue sports it now becomes how many sports going have to be cut probably. NCAA vey well might have to cut back from 16 sports for schools to retain their current status to like ten - -Revenue sports like Football - - -Basketball - - -Volleyball possibly being sports retained, this is where your Schools quite possibly start to break away from the NCAA , Schools just don’t have that extra money.
Recruiting budgets could be cut back , going to just be another case of SOME Schools that do have the money going to distance them selves even further from the rest of College Sports – Alot of Schools won’t have the or as much NIL luxury. The question now becomes also, what changes are they going to quite possibly have to make with Coach Salaries, especially head Coach’s ? - What about Coaching staffs ? - You got fie Coach’s on your Staff are you going to have to cut bac kto Four ? – Three This would just put almost double the weight on remaining Staff. - Other questions still to be answered , This thing is just getting started.?.
Might s well face it, College Sports as w know it is changing - -it’s coming – hell already here, hang on to your butts cuse it’s gonna get crazy

Six months ago this would have bothered me. Back when I still cared about college sports. I don’t like Pro ball (except the Chiefs and that will probably dissolve soon too). I still want to like KU sports, but I’m at the point where I’d much rather be fishing on the weekends. Hell, I might even start playing golf again.

@nuleafjhawk Careful, golf was invented to punish us while we tell ourselves we are having fun!

Boy that’s the truth. I could play the quickest 18 holes of golf you ever saw.-- -I could tee off on one and it would land on eighteen lmao-- one hell of a slice lol
-
Happy for the SA’s getting at least some compensation for all they’ve done to entertain us over the years. Probably will help a lot of them out who, like most, never sniff opportunities beyond college.

How do you spell it backwards? Appropriate I’d say!

So does that mean tax dollars will be used to pay basketball players? If so yuck. If the athletic departments have to fund themselves that’s fine by me.

I understand where your coming from with that but on the other hand it’s kind of a double edge sword .
It’s like so are you going to pay a student who is on a Scholi for a non revenue sport the same amount you pat a revenue kid ? - -Basketball, Football , athlete compared to a swimming or cross country athlete - -that’s not going to happen.
What is going to happen is now that with this , the kids in some of these non revenue that was on Scholi not only is not going to get any money , very good chance that the sport th at are here on a Scholi for is not going longer exist , so they lose that Scholarship because the sport is no longer there.
These Universities are going to have to cut some of these non revenue to be able to pay the kids that ARE REVENUE, like Girod said it’s not like we have an extra 20 Million laying around—they don’t have the Money for that It’s not gonna be good, cause in the long run a lot of these kidds in the end lose , because of this

At least in KU’s case, no public money goes to the AD

You’re conflating issues here. I’m just talking about the House settlement, not future revenue sharing.

Yeah, and that had nothing to do with my post. I’ve said previously how important it is to get into the P2 to get sufficient revenue to be able to afford the sharing piece
