Interesting read:
-
@drgnslayr Hurley (to me) seems smarter than he is greedy. Once you reach a certain financial status, it doesn’t really matter (or so I’ve heard…) but he is building a dynasty at UCONN. Or at least continuing a dynasty. I think he’ll stay.
I hope so anyway, because I’m fixin’ to make you the highest paid assistant coach in the entire universe. With all the moonshine you can drink.
-
My thoughts, too… except I’ve been wrong before, especially when egos and greed get involved!
Ha! I’d rather just get paid a comfortable amount… how about $150k a year?
-
@drgnslayr I do need to tell you this up front. My Kentucky assistant coaches can never admit that they’ve been wrong before. No humility allowed. Now ya know.
-
Deal! I’ll go back through all my years posting in here and clean up my old posts where I admit to being wrong. Probably 1000 or so posts.
-
@drgnslayr Great. I know you were wrong when you said that you were wrong.
-
I’m even wrong being wrong to be wrong. If my math is right (lol) I’m infinitely wrong! My wrong goes in so many directions… could explain the big bang theory.
Confessing “wrongness” takes off all the pressure. We can always later say… “see, I told you so!” lol

Calipari has just finally announced his official resignation-- -Now Kentucky can move on , Arkansas can move on , funny it took this long for Coach Cal to announce - -let Kentucky know - -the players hadn’t heard a peep - - nice
-
Bruce Pearl will be perfect fit for UK
-
@AsadZ I heard Billy Donovan’s name mentioned. That would be pretty awesome as well.
-
Hear they are not pursuing guys with checkered pasts…
-
Not sure it would be anything but a side ways step for Hurley. The only way I could see him leaving is insane money. Supposedly they are ready to offer Drew 10 million a year.
-
Lot of smoke in Lexington about Billy D being the Coach now

It’s a step down right now. UConn is a machine right now. Why in the world would anyone leave? Does Andy Reid wanna coach the patriots?
-
@benshawks08 yep like I said crazy money would be only reason
-
Well sure sounds like Kentucky all in on Scott Drew ( Baylor. )- - just got off their boards, being reported that Drew has ben offered the job. - - Greg Swaim another one saying that he has been offered and with what Kentucky is offering will be awfully hard for Drew to turn down.
Reports saying Donovan not interested - -Oates-- no , Wright - -no – - Donovon - not interested - - -Hurey - -no-- - - Bruce Pearl and othrs those Schools offering raises for the Coach’s to stay - -Bottom line from what I’m seeing - -it’s up to Drew

Hearing Scott Drew will be the first and only call from random posters of the internet
+1, Random posters of the internet
-
Alert - ---- Alert- - -umm Hello K/State - -warning – warning --this is not a drill — hello K/State lmao— - Kentucky floating out 11 million a year between Hurley and Drew. - -Would love it if Drew turned them down
-
TANG WATCH PART DEUX
-
I still think the infatuation with Tang is mostly false. I get Baylor wanting him if Drew left but total BS IMO if anyone else wanted him. Dudes been a HC for 2 years and won nothing in that time frame.
-
@FarmerJayhawk Tang couldn’t even coach K-State. And apparently his morals are too high for the blue Wildcats.
-
@nuleafjhawk it’s unclear how much money the lord will tell him to ask from Baylor
-
@nuleafjhawk talk around here is Donovan, and nearly all pro coaches don’t want to go back to college and all that it has become.

I don’t think Donovan will be the Coach. I think they are saying it’s been 10 years sine Billy was College, and not really sure how he wants to mess with the NIL , & not a fan of recruiting battles- -just having to recruit overall among other things about College game and what it has become
-
What’s interesting about the Kentucky situation is that it will be similar to KU sometime in the future when Bill retires or leaves.
I think UK is overlooking that Wes Miller dude at Cincinnati. He’s going to be a solid coach over the next couple decades.
-
@DanR I don’t think Bill is going to leave because of death threats though!
-
@DanR Hope Will Wade goes p5 again and has some success. Would love another elite bagman after self
-
I’m wondering if Baylor will think twice before hiring tang. He got pretty weird this past year.
-
Scott Drew turned Kentucky down and is staying at Baylor.
-
Smart decision imo
-
But UK is THE dream job. Their fans must be beside themselves.
-
The Nos are stacking up. Very enjoyable.
-
A name to keep an eye on for the UK job now is Mark Pope from BYU who was a senior on Kentucky’s 1996 title team.
-
This thing is officially in high comedy status
-
I’m still thinking Beard or Pearl, though thinking it less since they aren’t appearing already in Lexington. These two guys would sell their souls for a buck and lack the brains to realize the suicide committed by going to UK. Perhaps their names come up after a few more NO beatdowns! (lol)
Visit a Kentucky fan site now. I don’t see how anyone could stand that job.
Meanwhile back in Fayetteville… Cal is trying to figure out what to do with the 2-tons of toxic chicken that arrived in his new mansion! You think the players are fed that sh*t?

You wanna hear more funny ? - -being reported from Kentucky sports radio , today was Hurley day gonna call his bluff make him say no- - -I guess reported an offer to him of 100 Million over eight year contract – holy crap – and he STILL TURNED THEM DOWN lmao
-
It’s gonna be Mark Pope
-
bahahahahahahahahaaa
-
Sally Jenkins proposed Dawn Staley in a piece published in the Post today. That would be an inspired choice, and a living hell for Staley, I suspect.
-
Funny seeing them go after ‘old’ men when the next Bill Self/Jay Wright is out there as a 35 year old assistant somewhere who would carve his name into Rupp lore if given the chance.
-
Mass St would burn if we hired a coach that never won a tournament game
-
@FarmerJayhawk KU hired Roy Williams!
-
Evan Fran is on Twitter wondering if the UK fanbase is always this way. Yes Fran, it’s a disease there
-
@wissox yeah, 35 years ago! Things are so, so much different now.
-
@FarmerJayhawk and by “different”, I can only assume you mean “worse”.
-
@nuleafjhawk not at all. Life is much, much better than it was back then
-
@FarmerJayhawk Good for you! Not everyone can say that.
-
@nuleafjhawk well I wasn’t born yet so that helps. But I did just talk to my grandpa the other day since he turned 90 and he and my grandma are in a much, much better way than back then. And I think they’re in the vast majority
-
@FarmerJayhawk I think you may have a better all around attitude than me. I mean, I have a great family and that part is wonderful, but the general state of the world appalls me.
When I was 12, my dad would take me and my best friend to the lake (about 35 miles from our house), drop us off on a Friday evening and pick us up on Sunday evening.
If I heard of someone doing that in these times, I’d do everything in my power to have them arrested and the kids put in protective custody. It’s not a safe place “out there”.
But I do like my air conditioning and streaming TV… so I guess some things are better.
-
@nuleafjhawk I have two minds on that, 1) we see more bad things than we used to just because we see more of EVERYTHING than we used to, so that checks out. 2) crime is way down from what it was back then, so while people felt safer, they likely weren’t. So good and bad to everything I suppose
