2024 MLB Season

Rodon was unhittable in first couple of innings. I was taken back by his celebratory emotions though after every strikeout.
-
-
@AsadZ a tad cocky! Looked like he was gonna cry later
-
Hosmer is really into the royals, love his enthusiasm!
-
@AsadZ he probably gets a million dollar bonus for every strikeout
-
@wissox plus LA NY market. I hope it ends up anyone but NY in the AL and San Diego in the NL.
-
Hoz and his son are throwing out the first pitch tonight.
-
For San Diego? Lol
-
Do you guys know Mahomes owns 1% of Royals? I missed that fact when it happened. 2020 I think.
-
@approxinfinity Huge Mahomes fan - yeah he is one of only a handful of pro athletes to own a portion of a pro team. Brady will join him soon with a 10% stake in the Raiders.
-
@dylans think you read same story I did about Brady, yep.
-
@approxinfinity Patrick throws out the first pitch at a Royals game about every year partially for this reason, mostly because they want to see the the star QB. His wife, Brittany is an owner of the Current (women’s soccer team) they are very invested. Built a new home (it’s not too shabby) in KC this last year too.
-
@dylans nice!
-
I always wonder how it works being a 1% owner of something. Are you allowed in on board meetings? Do you get any cash flow from it?
-
I’ll make a point of not watching any of a NY LA series and look forward to not remembering who won a month from now.

What a wild WS game. Great effort for the Dodgers to piece together innings to get the job done. Sorry @jayballer67

-
Epic 5th inning meltdown for Bronx Bombers

Epic meltdown, just piss poor, they had the Dodgers right where they needed. As good as Aaron was in the regular Season and no one can deny that he was the best period BUT Aaron Judge is a complete failure in Post Season, I’ve seen it before
He is NOT even close salary wise in the play offs. -Then he amazes routine fly ball I mean a toddler could do better,- -then Volpe right play but short arms a throw to 3rd look like he used a 2x4 for an arm during that play. This kind of thing showed it’s ugly head before during the Season – BUT 3 fricken Tee-Ball plays in the same inning ?that play
LA scored 5 runs in the fifth not a single run was earned. When that happened Cole fell apart, lost all focus, and fricken Bone just stood there spitting seeds fricken bone head. --They had their chance LA was dead in this game before that- -showed absolute no signs of life --all you had to do was catch a routine fly dum ass lol
-
Royals Runner Ups:
Witt: MVP
Lugo: Cy Young
Quartaro: COY
-
$765M for Soto
That’s a lot of coin
-
I’m sorry as sad as I am to see him leave the Yankees , I can’t blame him. If ANY owner is willing to pay a player that much then hell ya why shouldn’t he
I’m sorry there is nobody worth that type of money- - - -nobody period. When you stop and think about it, that’s a hell of a lot more money then the President of United Stated gets paid - - -what’s wrong with that picture, you think about all the tough decisions on trying to run the country the stress of being the President all the obligations , decisions and such and then you have a guy that is making that much money playing in a game that he loves, no way does that begin to compare.
Yet as long as these owners are going to keep throwing that kind of money out to these guys then it’s just going to keep getting worse.
Bottom line who is it that suffers the most from things such as this? - -Us - - w the fans are the one’s who end up getting screws the most, the owners pay these idiotic salaries and then as one way of getting their money back – just continue to jack the prices up on tickets, parking , concessions , and whatever else and it’s the fan that gets screwed. what’s going to happen somewhere along the line is they are going to end up pricing themselves right out of the market sooner or later. the middle class and lower class people sure the hell can’t afford the price of a game the way its moving now.
-
This is almost 2x what Aaron had signed for with Yanks couple of years ago
-
@AsadZ ya, and much I like Aaron, he isn’t worth what he makes either-- Nobody in sports deserves that kind of money
-
It’s vanity.
Get used to it in the age of the oligarchs.
-
@SlimShaddy54 One of these days the public will wise up. Hopefully. QUIT GOING TO THE DAMN GAMES. Quit watching. Quit listening. Make it so they have to pay US to attend. It’s 100% bullshit and it’s wrong to pay athletes like this. Has anyone ever had a friend or family member who was a Firefighter or Policeman and was killed in the line of duty? Has a Doctor or Surgeon ever saved your life? Hell - even a Plumber or HVAC guy is more important than these overpaid, self absorbed asswipes. Don’t think so? Wait until your toilet won’t flush and your A/C breaks down when it’s 102 outside.
I’m sick of professional athletes. But I mean that in the nicest possible way.
-
@nuleafjhawk Exactly, here is a question you mentioned about a fireman’s pay - -a policeman pay – here is the 1,000 dollar question - how the hell do you put a number for the amount of money THESE GUYS make. how can you put a price on some ones life? - no way pro players should be making more then some one who puts their life on the line every minute of every day.
-
Just a bit of history: Successful charioteers and gladiators in ancient Rome had huge followings of adoring fans (even graffiti on wall!) and were quite wealthy. Their “sports” were more dangerous than modern pro sports, of course, but the doctors, firemen, and centurions earned a mere pittance comparatively.
The love of sports, and iconization of athletes, is pretty universal across cultures and eras.
-
@mayjay that’s because people are inherently stupid
