Chiefs season long game thread

@dylans Taylor is the worst tackle in the NFL IMO. I still stand behind me saying they needed to trade MVS and a few picks for Mike Evans who is in the last year of his contract with the Bucs.
-
Well, I was prepared to write the demise of the Chiefs is upon us. It still probably is, but then I looked back at their season schedule.
Are the Chiefs the same Chiefs who could cake walk to the Super Bowl? A resounding no.
But, they’ve been mostly competitive this year, despite their issues. I think they still have a chance to win any game.
They could make some noise in the playoffs with a little luck (and some output from their offensive players). So i have some faith left, but not a ton of confidence. So, there’s that. ha.
But i’ll rant about the future anyway!
The prime time Chiefs don’t appear to exist at the moment. The future isn’t so bright. We’ll need the super deluxe car wash in the offseason.
This could be it, folks. There’s lots to fix. But how long will it take to fix? And will a clearly frustrated Mahomes still want to stick around to wait? I know, seems impossibly unlikely for him to go, but who knows!
WR: Issue No. 1 for what seems like years now. Overhaul required. Unless a superstar or two join in the off-season, maybe not be a one year fix? how is it possible that they can’t get even a half yard separation at times??? i’m not sure they are entirely to blame (more on that later).
TE: Something has sucked the life out of our top dawg. If he’s not able to produce, we suffer to the max. Most of our eggs are in the Kelce basket. The above mentioned WRs can’t seem to help consistently. That leaves us in a hole with a clearly aging Travis. Dude is losing his sh*t more than Mahomes. Enough with the helmet tossing! Is it all his off field activity? Commercials, super star dating and jet setting? Or just that he’s wearing down? Either way, big issues. NOT an easy fix if he is done cooking or retires. he’s one of a kind.
QB: Mahomes is very clearly frustrated. I’m no expert on NFL financials, so not sure how possible it is he could want out and get out, but it seems at least a hint of a possible exit window exists. he doesn’t seem pleased with anything, or anybody at the moment. Hope he sticks around and doesn’t force his way out. his issues are coming to the forefront this season as well. Simple choices and mistakes seem to be his issue a lot. He cannot get on the same page with WRs. Is that his issue? Can he not throw a timing pattern? Does he need guys like Kelce who just run around til open to be successful? I dunno, but something’s wrong. how can you not at least connect with a WR or two during the game? Makes no sense. He’s taking some blame this season, maybe more than a little. Massive to say that, i know. But the offense is under the spotlight, and he’s part of it. NOT an easy fix if he leaves. he’s one of a kind.
RB: I like our group, but compared with other teams, it’s a weak link. Upgrade at the No. 1 spot required. This could be a quick and easy fix with the right draft selection. (not sure i have faith in our brain trust to pick a RB at this point).
O-LINE: seems to be a mess. Upgrades/reworking required. This could also be an easy fix with a good draft selection or via free agency.
Defense: No complaints at all. The star of the Chiefs this season. Keep it up. Replace/replenish as needed.
Coaching: Hmmm. Something seems off here as well. These WRs are professionals, who have had some degree of success here or elsewhere. Something’s wrong if they’re failing. Generally speaking with the offensive group, are the making the wrong play calls? Stupid play calls? Idiotic play calls? I’d like to see the stats on the gadget play success/fail rate. The Mahomes fumble for a defensive TD was appalling and seemingly unnecessary. Play calling and execution. Hard to say what the dynamic is between Reid and Nagy. EASY fix with new coaching.
Anyways, stupid Chiefs. Gotta win a game to make the playoffs, probably.

After last night Kansas receivers > Chiefs receivers. Arnold is more sure handed than any player currently in a chiefs uniform
-
Mecole on the mend. Sounds like he’ll suit up this weekend.
Can’t hurt to have another WR body on the field.

Does that body come with hands?
-
Does he get hurt in the 1st quarter?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Toney might if he wasn’t already on IR.
Mecole has had 2 injuries that have limited his time in KC in 4.5 years. A mangled thumb and a horrible core injury that required surgery that he tried to return from too soon last year. It’s not like he’s Hammy Watkins with constant soft tissue issues.
-
My main issue with Mecole is something he can’t help - his pick should’ve been used on DK Metcalf. I was beside myself when they passed on that physical specimen. DK hasn’t disappointed either.
I would’ve taken head case Pickens over Skyy Moore too, but that looks like it would be worse. Pickens is a talented fellow, but doesn’t appear to be near the good teammate that Skyy is.
The draft is such a crapshoot. I’d hate for my paycheck to depend on it. Now get to work Veach!
-
Good Offensive start! Nice play call!
-
The Chiefs will never win another game - ever.
-
D needs to step up
-
No pressure on qb
-
OL is weak.
-
Same movie on repeat
-
Mahomes turnovers the past 2 games have been killers.
-
Damn They can’t stop the QB
-
2 dropped passes and 1 turnover, but only one penalty. Sadly all 3 are improvement from the second half of the season.

It’s the same old story, same old song and dance, my friend
-
Offense needs to run solely thru Pacheco, he needs it every down til they stop him.
-
@kjayhawks no backup!
-
Why is it that 4 foot 1 Kyler Murray can throw passes to his fourth string receivers, yet Mahomes cannot connect?
-
Better line, more time
-
@rockchalkjayhawk better line, receivers that actually catch the ball.
-
Damn it I hate being right so often feed #10
-
Okay got one 3 and out

Ha. You were saying?
-
@rockchalkjayhawk yep like clock work unfortunately
-
@rockchalkjayhawk Fate comes a-knockin’, doors start lockin’ Your old-time connection change your direction Ain’t gonna change it, can’t rearrange it Can’t stand the pain when it’s all the same to you, my friend
-
MVS
What BS
-
Hardman sighting yet?
-
@nuleafjhawk was waiting for you to put that on Mahomes somehow lol
-
@rockchalkjayhawk I’ve been telling everyone why all season. The two team “leaders” don’t care about football anymore. They care about money and notoriety. Football is just a paycheck now.
A big damn, obscenely large paycheck that would feed some 3rd world countries for decades.
-
@kjayhawks it’s coming!
-
@nuleafjhawk you’re wrong!
-
What is the attendance today?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 About? Life in general?
-
Mahomes and Kelce just being about money
-
Gotta get some pressure on browning
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I am absolutely right, in my opinion.
-
Got lucky there! Let’s move the ball towards the other end. Where’s hardman?
-
Come on D!
-
Do I need to separate @Crimsonorblue22 and @nuleafjhawk haha
-
@kjayhawks I’m sorry. I don’t mean to be that guy. But I don’t respect either one of thm anymore.
Play football. Eat, sleep and breathe football. Your NFL salaries are sufficient. Own every sporting team, hamburger franchise and whatever else you own, plus all 500 commercials AFTER you retire.
-
Butker looking good this afternoon lol
-
@kjayhawks he’s a fantastic kicker!
-
Spags did a great job with pressure in the second half.
Butker had a miss last couple of games otherwise he is having a phenomenal year.
-
@AsadZ no air ball! Lol! This was much better! Rice getter much better, good return guy. Scary moment. Pacheco, love him. Watson good, Travis better, gray had one early. Mahomes looked better. Need to finish w/td’s but I’m more optimistic. Clicking. Good to see Taylor, for any of the haters!
-
Happy New Year, Chiefs fans!
Luckily i dozed off during the game. Woke up just in time to see the win!

He is currently the 2nd most accurate kicker of all-time (minimum 100 field goals attempted) behind only Justin Tucker.

@BShark Glad to see that he has moved up again. Last year the injury in Arizona in the first game screwed him up all year, on EPs, too.
