I wish they were playing tomorrow because I’d have driven over. Interesting matchup personally as I grew up in Illinois and have always been ready to jump on the Illini bandwagon should they ever put it all together. They did once making the Rose Bowl and then got torched by UCLA. Not many exciting moments, so of course KU has one upped them with the magical season in 2008. Don’t worry, not secretly hoping for an Illini win. It just wouldn’t suck as bad as losing to someone else.
Of course the other coach in this one was a Badger coach and fairly successful too. He coached Russell Wilson there and was two hail mary losses in back to back weeks from being undefeated in that season.
Exciting matchup for sure.

@wissox I grew up an Illinois fan (Tony Eason, Jeff George era), but I’ve lived in kansas longer than IL at this point.

@DanR I was trying to think of his name, I think it might have been Tony Eason that led them to that Rose Bowl.

Very impressive first quarter so far, especially the defense and how much they’ve been in the backfield tonight. This is a good Illinois team, maybe not as good as the Duke team KU played last year, but Illinois should make a bowl this year.
