Sox game shooting.
-
Not sure if this makes national news but I was at the game last night and there was a shooting. 3 2 people got hit, 1 is in the hospital. It happened in the outfield bleachers, 3rd inning, we were seated behind plate upper deck. No gunshots heard. Possible accidental firing of a loaded weapon. Strange strange strange and being a fan of baseballs strangest team just got stranger.
-
It was on the national news. Hope it was accidental, but a loaded weapon by spectators should not be brought into any sports venue in my opinion.
-
@wissox Glad you are okay, sure sounds like an accident. Article I read said 2 people were hit and no altercation was involved but it doesn’t sound like they know who did it at this point.
-
@kjayhawks Disturbing, but disturbing goes along with being a Sox fan. From two crazed criminals beating up a Royals coach during a game on the field, to Robin Ventura getting the tar beat out of him by Nolan Ryan the hits keep on coming.
-
@wissox How does this happen? Every professional sporting event (plus concerts) I’ve been to in the last 10 years or so checks for weapons.
-
@nuleafjhawk I don’t know. Off duty cops can bring weapons in. Some say somehow it came from outside the stadium but that would be a bullet with a lot of backdoor slider action to get up over the stadium wall and dive down to a row with three people in it. Bad guys are 3d printing guns now. Could those get through? IDK? If it was a gun inside the stadium it almost for sure was an accidental discharge.

Nolan Ryan whooping Ventura is one of my all time favorite baseball memories! Funny stuff - Bo Jackson looked terrifying running into the scrum, he could’ve broken any of those guys in two
-
@dylans It’s a little more cringe worthy for me because I’ve always liked Robin Ventura, but a man’s got to learn how to pick his battles! I’m pretty sure the Rangers use the clip as part of its fire up the crowd bit at the beginning of a game.
-
@wissox Rookie mistake. Don’t fight a cowboy if you’re going to half ass it. Posturing will not work. Lol.
Nolan is still my favorite pitcher. - I was actually watching that game when it happened.
-
@dylans He was an amazing OK pitcher! I know w-l record isn’t the only measure of a pitcher, but a career record with almost 300 losses says something, not sure what it says. Probably the reason he never won a Cy Young award which is shocking. He actually had several seasons where he walked more guys than hits given up! But he just couldn’t manage to win more games than he lost averaging about 1 more win per season than he lost. He would’ve driven the modern stats guys crazy with his odd metrics. I don’t know what to do with him.
-
He was on bad teams. It is what it is. But he was dominant thru several decades. No steroids so his 90s stats look pedestrian compared to Clemens.
-
I think he has the most walks ever (over 3k). Most strikeouts too (over 5k). ️

A few years ago I got this Nolan ryan rookie card for my birthday. I sent it to the Ryan foundation for Nolan to sign. Got it back and finally sent it off for grading. PSA liked it so much they featured it on their twitter page! Pretty cool - now my birthday present is famous. Lol

@FarmerJayhawk …that would cause some indigestion.
-
@FarmerJayhawk A friend just told me. Unbelievable.
-
@dylans That’s awesome!
-
@FarmerJayhawk I suspected that might be the case…but I didn’t anticipate the prehensile belly fat.
