What Iām saying is he has a top 1-3 roster every single year and we are constantly ranked number 1/2/3 all these years and heās got 2 titles to show for it. Anyone not think through that?

ONE MORE TIME , let me try and slow this down for you so you can understand. - -You say Self has got 2 titles with all these top 1-3 rosters every single year , can throw that right back at you Calipari had all these # 1 ranked- -# 2ranked recruiting classes -even top 5 classes practically EVERY YEAR na dhow many titles does Calipari how many did he have at Kentucky - -You not think through that -holy crap man wake up. Calipari has had better rosters almost every year over Ku according to services and has done nothing with them - - Shows who can Coach better and develop better better classes or not. Dam man

I explained to you earlier that the argument of āSelf should have more titlesā is the smartest way to bash Self. Honestly I commend you for trying to play your best card. However, you donāt understand why Self āonlyā has two titles. When you come up with an idea, you should analyze the idea and see if facts corraborate it before wholeheartedly believing it.
In other words, the theory that Selfās teams get upset in the tournament because Self chooses to play high-floor/low-ceiling players and thus creates high-floor/low ceiling teams holds absolutely no water. Let us take 2011 as an example. That team went 35-3 and had multiple impressive wins, including against Arizona and Texas, who were both top 10 teams (and both significantly better and more athletic than VCU). So to argue that we did not have the ceiling to beat VCU makes no sense.
The other example you provided was us playing Jamari Traylor, who was just a bench player who came in to relieve Perry Ellis and Landon Lucas. It is hard to see Traylor getting bench minutes as the kind of situation that cripples our ceiling but letās look at this team anyways. That team went 33-5 and had multiple top-25 wins including 4 top 10 wins. Too low a ceiling to win a title?
No. If you can beat top 10 teams your ceiling is fine.If I were you I would argue that Self does not mentally prepare his teams for the tournament well enough. There is evidence for this, unlike the low-ceiling argument. We have missed open jumpers and free throws at astonishingly high rates in elimination games. Start your arument here, think through what you say, and take it from there.

We never adjusted to Skeen knocking down 3ās or guarding from deep per Self which is usual. Was talking to another coach about how it seems every team always has a career day from deep against us and we both agreed itās easy to see why due to philosophy

You really canāt honestly make the Bill squandering top rosters argument in the last several years. In part due to the FBI/NCAA stuff. Sure 2011 and 2016 were bad breaks, it happens.
To win a title you need NBA talent and a bit of luck too.

I donāt know why they even bother playing the game the outcome is pre-determined, KenPom nails it every year due to the consistency across the sport.

The portal has allowed him to screw Nike by getting top transfers that arenāt straight out of high school.
Heās got 5-10 years left he needs to get 3-4 more titles so we pass UConn and/or tie with uk as they become the next Indiana or ucla

Before I respond let me see if I understand your argument. Are you suggesting that Selfās offensive scheme is good at getting us open looks but the players Self plays, including Brady Morningstar, Tyrel Reed, Devonte Graham, and Svi Mylhailiuk are not good enough shooters to knock them down?

@Jhawk69 No, his scheme is throw it inside and let a big go 1 on 1 because of proximity to the hoop and āhigher percentage shotā.
Itās the same reason on the Elite 8 Oregon loss team that on Landen Lucasā podcast he mentioned that even though LL was like the 5th scoring option theyād throw it into him to start the game or when they needed to try and get a bucket. That unfortunately doesnāt work when the guy guarding LL is twice as athletic.
Bill is incredible at scheming up blob plays (literally 1 of 1 here). He is a hof that is of no doubt and the epitome of consistency. Heās a high floor low ceiling coach much like his teams churn out big 12 titles but only 2 ncaa titles.
Bill would rather muddy up a game versus getting out and scoring. Itās why we are the comeback kings because we get down and come roaring back cause we have no choice but to get out and fastbreak.
Itās his philosophy on the game that needs a tweak. Not a complete overhaul dudes a stud clearly and his philosophy has worked just fine but if he looks in the mirror and analyzes what he needs to adjust heād take us to the #nextlevel
