Transfer Rumblings

@kjayhawks I regret to inform you it’s a fake tweet and Juan is, in fact, coming back lol
-
@FarmerJayhawk yes I just messaged him on Snapchat and he said coming back. Can’t believe he messaged me right back lol
-
KU has lost in the 2nd round in 4 of the last 5 tournaments. I don’t like that trend.
-
@Gorilla72 now the do I, I mentioned that on the game thread gonna do better no question
-
@Gorilla72 But when we get passed the second round, we win the National Championship. So today’s game was for all the marbles.
-
@bskeet well the last 2 times we made it out of the first weekend we at least made the FF if you count 2018. It just feels like we aren’t a part of the tournament losing so early. Last season stings because we probably had a final 4 shot with Self.

Would you like losing in the 1st round even better 4 out of the last years like our Dear friends Kentucky ?
-
@kjayhawks said in Transfer Rumblings:
I love KJ dude plays his ass off but I just don’t think we can be successful with him starting at the 4. If he’s willing to come off the bench otherwise we have to let him go. I’ve been saying it all year, a guy that can’t shoot, rebound or play defense has no business playing 30 plus minutes at Kansas.
Well 2 out of 3 ain’t bad I guess if that’s what you think but KJ 100 % can defend 1-4— the kid busts his as more then anyone else on this team - -he isn’t going anywhere
-
@jayballer67 - No, and I wouldn’t like losing in the second round every 4 of 5 years.
-
@jayballer67 he can’t defend the post he taller players and can’t defend the perimeter well from what I’ve seen. Teams pack the paint and dare us to make 3s we just watched it unfold this afternoon in the second half. We need a Perry Ellis type 4 with Hunter in the post.

I didn’t say the post. I said one through four, and he does defend the perimeter well. – I don’t know how many times I heard from announcers, coach’s and others talking about how good Harris- – Mccullar - -And adams was defensively
-
See ya Jamari McDowell
-
Kind of discouraged for the first time in a while. Feels like we’re running this core back
-
@BShark - So far tonight I’ve seen posts about Harris and McDowell leaving but I haven’t seen anything in the news. ???
-
@Gorilla72 Harris’ was a fake post, he confirmed he will be back

Juan will be back.
Nothing will be official for awhile with guys entering.

I’m OKAY returning 4 starters, portaling in an awesome guard to start and then just adding quality depth. Get starter minutes down and things look a lot different. Our bench couldn’t even tread water against good teams this season and it killed us.
-
@BShark I think returning the 4 starters would be nice and hopefully Elmarko stays with Mari leaving. I just hope one of those starters (KJ) doesn’t play 30 minutes a game

Gotta see what the portal additions look like. But I foresee a lot of the same issues with us potentially losing two pro wings. I still think spacing will be an issue with KJ, Dajuan and Hunt.
-
I keep hearing the younger Porter brother from Pepperdine is very high on us. Just not sure why we would be high on him lol

If I told you I’m 90% on Furphy being back would that brighten your day

I think Kansas does return 4 starters next year. Never a truly bad thing. Building real depth will be the key and the 2 guard needs to be HIM.
-
@kjayhawks did you give him this?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 to clear the air is because I want him to stay if we can get the right guys around him and have someone help him not play 35 minutes a game

Hmmmm looks like you were hoping it was true.
-
@BShark We are fuq’d
Flory is athletic will be solid as first big off the bench
Passamore should push furphy if not take his spot if good enough
Either way with the 1 and 4 the spacing will be atrocious
With the 1 and 5 the defense will be atrocious
It took Bill getting a two time all pac 12 player to come off the bench and save his sorry @$$ basketball philosophy
Stud guards win not “pure pg’s”….just idiotic. He’s becoming Eddie Sutton which is a disaster
Houston, Baylor, Arizona….all gonna run us each year with stud guards, a stud athletic 6-7/6-9 3-4 man and then these 7 foot rim runners who shot block the lane so the guards can play aggressive perimeter D
I’m applying for a job so put in a good word for me with William
-
@kuballin10 I think u r blocked, perhaps try applying for the sheep humpers job. I hear tang is looking. We are tired of hearing the same ole thing.
-
Been said ad nauseam throughout most of the fanbase but I won’t be excited if KJ is back in a major role. People will point at the success that the team had earlier in the season but our metrics were trash and we didn’t blow anyone out
-
Blew Houston out
-

70% shooting isn’t exactly “sustainable” but you did list a quality opponent that we blew out so I’ll cede there

He makes that sound a lot easier to attain than it is. He’s essentially saying you need shot creating guards, sharp shooters and depth. Every team is searching for that.

I love targeting Kobe and Garrison. So I won’t complain but I think Vecenie thinks we are closer than what I do.
-
I know I’m beating the hell outta a dead horse here but watching this game today. Teams just have so much better guard play than us. Guys that are quick off the bounce, can get a piece of the paint anytime they want. They are bigger, stronger and faster than ours. The one hope is it won’t be that way with Johnny next season if he returns after hitting the gym. He will be one of those guys.

See and my concern with that even if Johnny comes back is he isn’t a primary or secondary handler type. Frank Mason’s and Devon Dotson’s don’t grow on trees but we need a guard who can generate paint touches and get to the free throw line consistently.

Fair. Sending you a dm.

KU’s inability to create floor spacing meant it was harder for guards to get into the paint. Late in the year the lane was clogged to prevent HD from getting clean touches. TBH, I don’t think ref’s called all the fouls they should have during lane penetration but whatever….
-
@TYOHawk Very true and I agree but most teams in the tournament seem to have that type of a player. I think that’s probably one of the things we missed most since Kevin was out. Here’s the ball, go get a bucket.
-
@TYOHawk All these Marquette guys able to drive in traffic while Elmarko stumbled around anytime he tried going into the paint
-

I took it for granted with Frank and Dot. But the ability to just tell a guy to get in the paint and get fouled or get a bucket is so pivotal.
-
@rcjhdraft one thing to consider if I remember correctly Elmarko is hasn’t been playing organized ball for very long. He has the athletic ability to do and has a decent stop and pop game right now.
-
Yeah we need real guards again.
-
@BShark upvote times a thousand, great guards and coaching wins in match 9 years outta 10.
-
Keep an on Colby Rogers.
-
@BShark - Rogers is 6’4” and used to 30+ minutes/game. Is he a grad transfer?

Yes. Already in the portal.
