How will you feel about the roster if we add say, Collins as a back-up post option and then a 6’6’’+ guy that can play the 3/4 and would get 20+ minutes a game.
Is that Damien Collins ? - -he wasn’t THAT BAD was he ?

@BShark I’d feel much better. Should I actually hold my breath for Kaluma?
He’s on the possibly list. Would have to beat out Arizona for him.
We will see a LOT more action after the combine games Weds/Thurs.
They’ve got to add a wing who can score. Period. There is one guy who can score on the whole roster.
-
@Kcmatt7 Yep. It’s a need and we know that. Looots of options, despite how it looks.
-
Would collins only be deployed as the backup 5? Doing some reading on him, it doesn’t seem like he has any traditional big man instincts and would be better off used on the perimeter/lob threat.

Come on now. Hunter, Juan, Timberlake are all proven scorers. I’d also say Elmarko and Arterio are scorers as well. Do they need to add a wing, of course but it’s not as bad as you make it seem. The team is ranked #1 on Torvik.

The walk-on thing might be a hold-up with Parker. Stay tuned on that one.
Hi guys, looks like we did have to give him the scholly.
-
I assume he’ll be at the 4? His highlights are all assists and 3 pt shooting.

They will be top 3 in the league because of Juan and Hunter. But the rest of the roster is so meh they look like a round of 32 exit again.

Reasonable take. It was this or let him go to BYU or SLU from what I’ve gathered.

A bit unfair I feel. Terio was a top 10 guy. Elmarko and MAJ are pretty talented. I’ll see what we do for the last big wing spot.

This world is so chaotic. No respite from the storm in our sports.

It really isn’t as bad of a move as I’m making it sound. But it is a big of an indictment on what is out there to get.
-
We are eyeing another dead eye shooter for the 3/4 spot. Someone not in the portal yet.

It probably is a bit unfair. There is a possibility that the Elmarko/Terio/Juan trio is unguardable. Theoretically, those three together should mean we live in the lane. At the same time, we have like a wide-open spot on the perimeter and whiffed twice on two really good players. Like that is the last piece of the puzzle for a team with title hopes (besides a playable backup big).

Mgbako is one whiff, who was the other?
-
@BShark Ingram
-
@Kcmatt7 ehhhhhhhhhhh
Though in hindsight I bet Bill would have actually pushed harder.
-
@BShark imagine Ingram feeding the post. You could have rolled out a lineup with essentially 3 PGs and Ingram around Dickinson
-
@Kcmatt7 Yeah I think I was higher on Ingram than Bill by a lot.
-
@BShark I mean Stanford did suck lol. And Ingram is definitely a mediocre athlete. I get what isn’t to love.
-
-
@BShark I was 100% with Bill on this one
I want Emanuel Miller…him at the 4 for us wooffff
The Nelson ship I think he’s sailed

Nelson was 6’10 barefoot with a 7’ wingspan. Dude is a monster
He’s obliterating the combine. Someone will give him a draft promise I bet.
https://theathletic.com/4513228/2023/05/16/nba-draft-lottery-mock-draft-wembanyama/
Is it just me not reading well or is he not on this mock draft?
-
@benshawks08 he’s in the 70’s on Veciene’s big board pre-combine. We’ll see how that changes after this week.
-
@FarmerJayhawk I’m not sure he’s the best fit here with Hunter anyway but never hurts to add good players no matter what position. Will be interesting to see who drops out of the draft after this week.
-
Anyone ready for a 4 guard lineup??
-
@FarmerJayhawk with who……exactly?
-
@kuballin10 Juan Morris Timberlake Pullin
-
Bill, Kurtis and Brady are at the combine. Definitely just to support Jalen Wilson and not for behind the scenes recruiting. Nothing to see here.
-
@FarmerJayhawk ooofffff not sure on that one
-
@kuballin10 might be our best 5 if everyone stays in the draft tbh
-
McCullar is mocking in the second round now. - didn’t think he wanted to come back, but if that’s the feedback he’s getting he’s long gone.
-
@FarmerJayhawk You are the king of a high scoring guard with good 3% from a small school can’t translate to big 12 or defend.
Curious your thoughts on Pullin?
-
I still can’t rule out Kaluma at this point either. Unless he is just done with college there are some good tea leaves for us.
-
There’s not a world where we end up with love, right?
-
@kuballin10 right, I don’t think a lot of high volume scorer traits translate up. Like Timberlake is a fringe starter or solid bench piece here IMO. I like Pullin better than Timberlake because he can just do more and has upside as a shooter. He’s a very good passer and is really crafty scoring it with his size and ball handling ability. He’s such a low volume three point shooter it’s hard to say how exactly it’ll translate but with his skills the mid 30’s are fine. He was in the 80something percentile in spot up shooting % so he can do it, just idk exactly how consistent it’ll be. He won’t be a particularly good defender. He’s a below the rim athlete for sure. But overall I like him as a connector and a dude who can occasionally get you a bucket off the bounce when the the offense stagnates. He shoots it well enough to where you can’t leave him open to double Hunter.
-
@benshawks08 oh lord no
-
@FarmerJayhawk bigs of Braun, Hunter and KJ won’t cut it. One injury and we are in trouble.
I’d rather get draft dropout wing and another backup big
-
@kuballin10 they’re definitely trying for both but it’s tough to find a dude who’s willing to play 8 minutes a game for the next two years and is good.
-
Kaluma solves a lot for us imo
-
@BShark Him or Nelson really, really change the way I would look at this roster. Like a FF or bust type of roster if they can land another 4/5 type who can shoot it a bit.
-
I think we are okay pending on whom stays in the draft with 2 Scholarships left. Braun will just be a guy that gets beat to crap in practice and likely won’t see the floor outside of mop up duty and major foul issues.
-
Kaluma was pretty bad at the combine
-
@rcjhdraft ditto Nelson. He tested well but it definitely didn’t translate. He was playing in the last scrimmage which must mean he doesn’t have a promise
-
@FarmerJayhawk sounds like a Bill Self project
-
@approxinfinity bless up
-
Love that Arizona is taking Keshad Johnson. They are full now.

Nelson or Kaluma - who you taking if you only get 1

Kaluma. Not too sold on Grant at the 4 at the P5 level.
