I guess congrats dook on the huge win
-
@rockchalkjayhawk hey silver lining! Thx 4 this
-
@rockchalkjayhawk I would root against Duke if Ted Bundy was the opposing coach

There's something about a gut punch loss that makes me philosophical. Because I have to come to grips with the disappointment so that it doesn't drag me down into the dumps I look to so many people and life circumstances that prevents me from feeling sorry for myself. That fact that it could happen again tomorrow or Sunday makes being a fan of two teams all the more 'difficult'. But it is just a game and baseball starts in 2 weeks and i have spring break in 2 weeks, and well, I'll get over it. KU surviving into next week would help. Except for one massive exception in 2022, both of my teams ending the season disappointingly every season. Even the Covid year was a BIG championship for UW and fans were excited for the postseason.
Having been a fan of 3 KU champions and 1 White Sox winner is pretty good though. I consider 1988 to be my championship since I was a senior. That's a memory that has taken me through the tough endings of so many seasons. But I do hope to see a few more before I go on home to heaven.

Ted's team would just eat 'em alive.

@wissox83 I like your attitude. I can be really disappointed in sports but it never wrecks my day! Never have understood the anger from some people.

-
@mayjay It's not so much about my attitude but it's that I have to protect myself from letting it ruin my day. Today after the Badger loss, I went disc golfing which I love to do, and it was the first nice day in about a month that I could get out. Had some music on and it really cleared my head.
The KU loss in 97 was one it took a lonnggg time to get over, felt like weeks. That one was tough.

Well friends, I took a break from sports this past week. We just got back from Colorado with the kids being on spring break. Breaking tradition yet again this season. This is the first time in my life that I not only didn’t watch the selection show but I didn’t fill out a single bracket. Maybe it’s a good omen for us.
-
@wissox83 i liked your post then read some more and looked for the like button again only to realize i already liked it. Your post was double like quality.
-
@wissox83
I've mentally removed it and I might suggest others do the same. -
@kjayhawks2.0 I haven't filled out a bracket for maybe 5 years. I feel a lot smarter! I'm glad you had a good week. This is my new normal - I care less about sports almost daily.
-
@nuleafjhawk I have been caring less and less over the last several years. 2022 probably just postponed the inevitable which ends my run caring about college athletics. My ten year old is probably what will keep me some what invested for the next 8 years.
-
Agree with the others above, it was just too hard on me to get that worked up over losses and had to distance myself a bit. Easier to do these last few years.
And yet, we’re all still posting on this fan forum. And I ‘m guessing I may not be the only one who yelled at my tv once or twice last month. And if we were to make a deep run…
-
@nuleafjhawk "They" (The powers over college sports) have ruined it for me. Less and less interested.
-
@FormerlyStlJhawk you're absolutely right. The difference for me is now I don't feel obligated (compelled) to watch. If I'm in front of a TV and the game is on -great! But if I have other plans, I'll do them and watch later. Or not watch later.
-
I will be ready to reevaluate how I feel once we field a functional roster.
-
Wow, Kentucky ties it spectacularly, but Santa Clara's coach was calling for a timeout after SC had made a 3 of their own with 2.4 seconds and the refs (at least a little understandably in the chaotic finish) didn't see Herb Sendek calling for the timeout. But in the 10-15 minutes I'd seen before the refs seemed to favor Kentucky a lot.
-
I, too, decided that life can hold so many bumps and bruises but I can just look outside and see the birds or deer and appreciate the beauty of my surroundings and move on from a loss much easier than when I was going to a game here every year and getting to know the program so well and was heavily invested in it. I want the team to play well and win and do it for themselves first and then the fans next. Seeing all the close games so far when one would think it was a cakewalk (Duke), makes me realise that our approach has to be better than what we have seen in the past. I think it will be. Positivity is the ticket! Melvin said most of the country is counting us out. Rested Melvin will be the dawg right out of the gate.
-
Gotta make shots and make 3s. Its been such a prevalent theme so far in all the games.
-
LOL, my bracket is terrible, and I'm tied with Joe Lunardi's!!
