Big visit week. Got an OL, LB, CB, and DE on campus.
DE didn’t make it. Which makes the Phelps news even worse.
Believe we snagged the LB though.
Which DE? The one from Utah St??
-
@Woodrow yep. Going to Cincy instead

So let’s see - - we lost the DE & Corner BUT got the Ol right Farmer ?
-
@jayballer67 yep, also got the LB. Both have 2 years left. Honestly I think Lovell (the OL) beats out Ford at guard. He’s a monster.

ya after I read your post I went to TOS and saw we got our LB JB Brown - - -from Bowling Green. - your right Spencer Lovell is huge - -6’6 335 pounds-- was a Starter for Cal before he got hurt. - -Big day for our Hawks recruiting wise
-
@FarmerJayhawk What about Armaj Reed-Adams this season? Is this the year we finally see him get PT?
If he isn’t going to play O, switch that big boy to the other side of the ball and see what happens lol.
-
@Kcmatt7 he’ll definitely be part of the rotation. Fuchs likes to roll with 8; 5 starters and 3 swing guys. I bet the 5 will be Brown, Lovell, Dirk, Puni, Cabledue, then ARA, Ford, and Baynes as rotation guys. Doiron could get some run since he has reps at center.
-
McGhee
-
-
And Patrick Joyner
-
New RB Dylan McDuffie from Georgia Tech
-
Kansas lands class of 2023 CB Jacoby Davis
-
I wonder who got axed to make room for McDuffie? I thought we were out of spots. They could not renew a scholarship I suppose?
Davis is a great pickup. At a position of need as well.

I read that it could very well be our very inconsistent place kicker/fg kicker, - -talk he graduates soon so his scholli would be the one. - Huge get only thing wish he could be a couple inches taller, he get in coverage with some of the bigger receivers might be mismatch no matter. - there is a few 6’4 - -6’5 wide receivers pretty big disadvantage- - b toss it up - -hope not
-
@jayballer67 could be I suppose, assuming he graduated.

I think I heard that he did

Doing a little catching up, KU has quietly put together a very nice walk on class, complete with a couple P5 transfers. Lots of guys with utility frames who could be DBs or LBs with some development. Dillon Mong could grow into a nice TE. My fav is Grady Seyfert from Beloit (NCK pride!). He’ll be a nice depth piece at DT or interior OL. Played both DT and G in high school, and Beloit has always had a really solid football program, much to my chagrin.

Lots of talk of how our linebacking problems have been taken care of this season - - . Brother I think we can be sneaky good. - For one I think our offense is gonna be just as explosive as last year if NOT MORE I mean we are loaded I think in the receiver spot, not hurting at the RB. - What’s the Scoop on Mcduffie ? - -If I’m right he is the transfer from Georgia Tech running back. - -I think he might be able to take a few snaps-- I mean Neal & HiShaw fingers crossed he can stay healthy he is a animal.
Think our O-Line is in solid shape - -just need to add some conditioning - - little weight / strength.
Still think our main concern even though improved is our defense - -I hope we have gotten bigger taller. I t was so evident in the Arkansas game look at Arkansas players then our guys–just got out matched a lot of times - - need some physicality on the rush ends - - aggressive/mean - -I think gonna be exciting - - I’m stoked Farmer
-
@jayballer67 McDuffie is going to replace Ky Thomas’s snaps. So not a huge role, but depth in case Hishaw goes down again and to preserve Neal.
I don’t think the defense is fixed, but I do think it’ll improve. Losing Lonnie really hurts. However! I love love love what they’ve done at corner. McGhee and Joyner are dudes. I’m concerned about linebacker. Brown is good, but we didn’t add much in terms of numbers. The one to watch here is Jayson Gilliom. Came as a safety but missed last year due to injury. Heard he’s really really good.
I agree on the OL. I think it’ll be better. Brown replacing Bostick should help the run blocking. Big Earl was great but he’s not a mauler. Spencer Lovell probably beats out Ford for a guard spot. That’s some more extra beef.
-
Makes me feel really good to see our latest group of 13 are now on Campus and enrolled for Spring Semester. - Can’t lie I’m stoked you can see Coach is really filling in his guys and talent getting better. - -Couple of these guys are 4 Stars -one was rated a 5 star by one publication , getting some size height and weight.
One’s I’m super excited that are actually here cause I think these guys are REALLY gonna help are : - Austin Booker ( DE ) from Minnesota- Pattrick Joyner ( DE ) from Utah State - Super, Super stoked about Damarius McGee - -4* ( CB ) from LSU -Super Stoked about Logan Brown - -he is the 5 * by the one publlication a 6’6 & 311 pound ( OL ) from Wisconsin - - -Spencer Lovell ( OL ) 6"6 and 335 pounds from Cal-- And realy stoked for our specialist we needed desperately --( PK ) Seeth Keller from Texas State
Super charged for ALL the guys but these to me are gonna be studs ya I realize we don’t have a full 4 years with some of them but still filling in really nice - - -I’m ready
-
Having these guys ready to step in and start next season is huge. Even if you don’t have them for 4 years, bridging that gap while other guys develop is important to avoid a step back to being a 1 or 2 win team.
-
@justanotherfan I posted on another thread, but adding through the transfer portal should be a top priority for LL and Co.
There is probably a “nicer” way of saying it, but “trapping” kids here and getting them after they used their free transfer already is going to be important for “getting old and staying old.”
If you can land ~8-10 multi-year guys through the portal every year, that is likely to mean you have at least 30 players on your roster every single season who have 2+ years of D1 college football experience. Throw in a minimum of 40 “home grown” guys (just 10 each class), and you’ll never see the scholarships dip below 75 ever again… And you’d be a VERY old team. It feels like the staff understands this.
-
@Kcmatt7 this is the way. I’ve heard a mix of 15 HS, 10 portal/JuCo is the strategy moving forward. Once the Covid years cycle out it’ll be more consistent
-
JUCO safety Akili Hubbard commits to Kansas.

The sign of a true powerhouse program

OK Farmer help me out. Saw this guy was a PWO just recent add I think need a little inside info. - - – he is a dual threat QB – Cole Ballard I think said 6’2 - -215 maybe 225 , anyways just wondering if you had heard anything on him at all.
I mea saw his tape - -kid looked pretty solid - -looks like got a pretty strong arm - -pretty dam accurate in all three levels - -short , intermediate , & Deep. - -Runs well , strong runner , decent speed. Have you heard anything? - - If is is like he looks think we might of got a steal. - Like others have said of TOS -KU has had an outstanding recruiting with the PWO’S this year - -what you think ?
-
@jayballer67 he’s the Indy Colts GM’s kid. I don’t expect much from any walk on QB except play decent scout team and keep the team GPA up. TJ Crews is the other in that category.

Starting to worry here. He didn’t sign today and hasn’t really been in communication as to what’s going on. That usually means he’s listening to others trying to get him to hold off.
-
Looks like he just signed thankfully

Ya big relief. Was hoping he didn’t flip. – -Just like with our huge 2024 commit today- -Man I hope we hang onto him. - -There is a guy that lives in his area, has seen him play and is really up on him saying KU got a big time recruit .Article read says KU’s system is the same sa he runs in HS- -should be easy transformation for him, he says not to worry KU besides getting a great player is getting a great kid - - not to worry he is KU
-
Phew. Glad my paranoia was misplaced

you and me both. – we off and runnin in 2024 also buddy

KU is 2nd in the nation in returning production for the upcoming year - - KU has 85 % returning on the offensive side and ranked 10th on the defensive front. The closest one to us from the Big 12 is Texas ranked 19th – Then drops all the way to Texas Tech at 64th - -WV at 66th- -Iowa St at 67th - - then The Purple kittys at 76th.
i don’t think I’ve eve been so pumped for our boys this fall, the start of the New Big 12 - -New Teams - and getting remodel/updates on Booth and Anderson - -these things mean alot ot recruits - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Hey buddy Farmer got a question. Not really recruiting but football.- -Do you have any insight or whisperings how we are progressing as far as the funds needed for our stadium improvements ? - You think we will hit the goal , as I think the project expected to be around 330 Million total or in the somewhere right ?
Just curious if you had heard any updates. I’m so ready for that old thing to get that major face lift. --I did see where recruits said they had seen the plans and looked really awesome. Do you know do they have the renderings/pics? - of projected design yet? - I’m so jacked about our football - -ready for some new blood in the league - - Screw Texas/Oklahoma - -get the hell out - gonna be a couple of has beens in the SEC.
Just curious hope we can come up with al money needed to fund- -or Lance probably will walk just like his contract states if up dates don’t get done
-
It’ll get done. Just the public and endowment funds are $200m. I know Goff and Girod are circulating renderings to big donors, and they’re getting tweaked based on donor input. I’m guessing that process will be done sometime in the fall and the pictures will get to us plebes. Still hearing it’ll be a part of a larger capital campaign. The AFH project is a go, and I bet Hoglund will be in the mix as well.

So actually if w have that 200 Million- were not in THAT bad of shape huh ?- -the rest just come from private donations then ? -I can’t wait

Think we got one out of the portal. Dylan Brooks, former 4* DE from Auburn. 3 to play
-

Another very quality pick up right Farmer . - - - 4 * pretty good school , and an area where we need a guy get pressure from the outside - - I like

Got heeeeem. This staff is insane at the portal stuff. When they identify their targets, their closing rate is silly

That’s huge love this Staff. like I posted before the quality of guys we ar now getting or that we are in the mix for is like night and day.
Having said that , we are getting people’s attention lol , out other school down the pike I think getting a little nervous . All up in arms about how we are getting our funding for reno at Memorial, saying it’s not right. - -People saying if we indeed end up with the renovations then it is showing commitment to Football and that scares the hell out of them the way tt sounds.
The post of the month I saw from them- -a poster says "Why are you worried about their stadium improvements ? I’m worried about what their Coach is doing over there. They aren’t a pushover anymore. Plus if he stays committed They just got the # 9 Dual threat QB in the Country for 24 and some other nice players.
LOL, ATTENTION BIG 12 - -we coming , like he says you try and kick us now - -we kicking back. Big 12 I putting you on alert , Coach and the Hawks are NOW at Defcon 5 we coming. ESPN came out and listed top QB’s in the Nation , they polled 12 different anaylsts (Coach’s ) gave them a Scoring system -and our bor Jaylon - -# 10. - -oh ya I’m ready and this addition just another sign - -that the Door is now OPEN - look out
-
Hey Farmer, saw where Mikey Pauley Neb QB transferred in to KU, I guess walk on - -but I don’t get it. We have Jalen , Jason , Ben , - -why?- -plus we got our stud coming in 24 - I just don’t get that move , he not going to see the field here. I mean not sure the story in Neb but with what w got here & coming - - WHY ?
-
@jayballer67 don’t think you can have too many options at QB after #6 leaves.
Hard to say who’s skills will really translate.
-
@jayballer67 why not? He’s a walk on and gets to pay in-state tuition now. He’ll compete for reps with Easters and play some scout team. He’s got some athletic talent, just a BIG project.
-
A big get with Brooks today. was ranked as the 77th best player coming out of high school in 21, viewed s the 6th best edge rusher, should be able to help get pressure on opposing QB’s , plenty of depth on both Strong side and Weak Side. School that he was recruited by coming out of High School ; - Alabama , Georgia , Oklahoma , Oregon , Texas A & M , USC - originally committed to Tennessee with change of staff, got to love this addition
