The other thread pretty lengthy - new one Covid

  • I don’t see anyway College Basketball makes it through without more then one break/inneruption . - Was listening to the news release from the KU Med Center , they are very concerned.

New cases of COVID up 30/40 % in the last two weeks Nation Wide - - -41 States spiking higher then they have eve been. They are talking of course that people have just pretty much gotten burnt out - -saying helping curve this is pretty simple BUT people just not caring and refusing to do it - - - WEAR THE FRICKEN MASK.

New cases in Younger are on the rise more , and more mass gatherings going back to School , younger taking it back to older people parents/grandparents and then they in turn passing to other elderly people - - Hospitalizations are up , more people being put in ICU - - ventilization is up

I know here in Kansas - - we had just over the weekend right at 2,476 new cases I know we are setting records for the entire pandemic - - it’s about to get really ugly again , BUT there is a lot that will just totally ignore and thinking awwww it will go away, - to that I will say I’ll see if I can make it to your funeral , not sure what it’s gonna take for people to understand this is no joke

  • Covid, close to home. My bro in laws uncle passed today. 61. Healthy guy. Cattle rancher from s. Ks. Like most rural Kansans, where cases are raising like crazy, didn’t wear a mask. He gave it to his wife and daughter, but they were ok. He’s been in wichita about 2 weeks on a vent. Finally pulled it today. Sad day! So simple to wear one, do it for others. This guy was a very good man.

  • @mayjay thx, it’s mainly for my sister and husband! Just hoping to send a message. They wear masks, but he was at their house before he was sick and they didn’t have them on. 😷

  • This dam thing just keeps coming back and kicking our ass. - - Latest out of Kansas , all but 6 counties in the red which is very high to uncontrolled. - -We just set another record for the largest number of reported COVID-19 over the last 7 days.

Kansas has over 4,ooo new reported cases since Friday. Gives the State a rolling average over the last 7 days of 1.507 cases per day COVID-19 has risen/spiked up 18 % will 19 new Deaths total of Deaths is now 1,406 - -that’s to many - - ONE is to many.

Missouri just getting blasted right now , they just had their 1st Death of a child under 14 years of age - - an 8th Grader that passed just 2 weeks after testing positive, hospitalizations way up, - -Dam when is this going to stop ?

  • I know guys , I know people get tired of hearing about it - - reading about it , the Virus BUT it is what it is.

Read this today : It said the daily c Saying that we had been warned for months about a 2nd wave coming well it’s here counts is climbing in 48 States, The US recorded it’s highest number of new daily cases, & as a result now some regions are showing signs of 2nd shutdown , new restrictions on restaurants , & bars and saying to avoid unnecessary travel , some States issuing curfews in order to stem the number of new infections. - 13 States at the present showing signs of shutting down. - -Some of these numbers is staggering:

    Florida : - - -New cases have jumped/increased by 42 % over the past 2 week

Michigan : - - - New COVID infections up -114 % - - -holy crap 114 % from daily average count over the last 2 weeks. - - imposing restrictions like masks MUST be worn when more then 2 people present at stores or office or School - -more restrictions then just this

Conn: - - - over 50 % increase in cases over the past 2 weeks - new restrictions of restaurants down to 50 % Capacity event venues down to 25 people indoors & 50 outdoors - - Capping religious gatherings to 50 % or 100 people - - -other restrictions

    Mass: - - - A increase of 70 % over the last 2 weeks they are instituting nightly stay at home from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. - rest , gym’s , theaters , casinos must close by 9:30 - -other restrictions

Illinois :- - - new cases up 86 % - over the past two weeks ban on indoor dining , and ban all outdoor dining must be done by 11 . Any gatherings are limited to under 25 guests and 25 % of capacity overall

New Mexico : - - -Over 40 % increase - have a stay at home order gatherings of only 5 people and bars , rest , and retail business

    Colorado : - - COVID increase of 130 %

    Wisc - -having restrictions - -

    Idaho - - Big increase

Didn’t bothering writing the others just to long but you get the Idea

I know here in Shawnee Co - St Mt Vail said hospitalizations is as high as it’s ever been - -we jumped 70 % in new case and the positivity rate is at like 14/15 % - -1st time it’s been over 10 % since the pandemic we are falling deep in the uncontrolled of the virus

Was talking to my friend who has a daughter in the schools and the Prinicpal of USD - that’s all Topeka public schools that safd YES they will be closing the Schools - - Again hoping to make it to Thanksgiving then will be all at home until at least after the 1st of the year.

Bottom line don’t be surprised when we start to shut down again - - fully believe it’s coming and coming soon - -all signs pointing that way and it’s already started

  • @jayballer67 It’s not going to end it but it will be nice to have a president who believes in science running the governments response to this instead of a guy who just got bored and gave up. I’m hoping we may have it under control by the summer.

Until then, stay in as much as possible, order to go, wear a mask, wash your hands, and stay at least 6 feet away from other people!

all we can do - just do what WE can do

  • It would help if elected officials in Kansas would wear masks, specifically dr roger Marshall and dr Mark steffen(hutch) doctors, no less! Hospitals are full and on Halloween they had a big ass trump rally here, trump train, ending in a bbq dinner in a building, none of them wearing masks! We are working so hard to keep kids in school and businesses open by following safety protocols. Steffen wants to get rid of all of those!

I think also too is that so many people are just so tired of the virus that they are taking an they are not going to tell me what to do attitude. - - They consider wearing a mask as an incovience no ones really wants to , but we just need to do our part - -WEAR the mask - -easy enough. let’s do our part at least , I don’t think we are really that close to a cure - it’s gonna be here for some time

Another question I have is - - when they DO find or develop a cure , then the question becomes who gets the injection ? - -how much is the injection gonna cost ? - -give it to the one’s that can afford it and the one’s that can’t doesn’t get it ?

  • They don’t wear one cause they’re trump people! I wear one cause I care about others and myself! Vaccine will probably be free, the warp speed is what scares me. 60 mins tmrw talks about the vaccine.

  • You guys think we will hear Biden addressing the nation more than any past President Elect for the next 3 months?

  • @approxinfinity we will probably need him too. Trump will check out. You think? The virus is out of control. We can’t wait.

  • I don’t think Trump will check out. It’s not in his nature. He’s going to do some stupid stuff.

And if Biden is saying what he is going to do to combat the current problems Trump will not be able to stfu when he sees he’s being cast as a do nothing president.

Dude – -Dude - - - no nope never mind I’m not going to get into it , gonna bite my tongue - -ready for Basketball. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer67 I’ll move further Trump commentary to a different thread.

  • The Pfizer vaccine cleared another testing hurdle. Probably still months away, but getting closer.

  • Read where a Day Care Center here in Topeks - - Name of Building Blocks which is run by Stormont Vail Hospital ha been closed down until least Nov 23rd. - -The Article said that 18-44 employees have tested positive for the COVID & that they will re-test the other employess that tested Negative before they re-open - -not Good,

Also saw that in Lyon County the Emporia Senior Center is closed until further notice because of COVID - - - Riley County reported 126 New Cases from Saturday to Today - -community spread which means they don’t know how they contracted it.

3 elementary schools having multiple kids coming down with the COVID - -Schools are talking about shutting down , my neighbors girl - the Prinicipal told her mom that they will be going to on line - -this is in the 501 Topeka Public Schools- - just keeps getting better

  • I hear our boe is meeting tonight to decide what to do. Reno co has a high %. Weve been doing so good at school, but the dang community stinks. It’s so political with masks, but yet they get mad if the kids have to go remote.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 said there are now 21 States in the Red Zone , it’s just crazy - -they talking about NY again NJ and Conn – here we go

  • Well things just keep getting worse. 5,920 new cases from last Friday to Monday - -15 more deaths - -count for this , is at 103,553 cases since it began

K-State has huge problem Riley Co health listing K-state Football , Track & Field & Cross country teams with out breaks. - - K-State football coach said they have to be really care as they have seen Huge jump - saying they have counts of 20 upwards players with the COVID. - Saying they have to be care and play against themselves as they have no Scout team.

Governer Kelly was asked about Basketball with the Schools , and she said some schools are already discussing the Basketball Season saying what might be and she said we had got kind of lucky already from the fall sports BUT those were outdoors - - NOW we are talking about indoors , and the reporter saying that’s kind of a hard situation for a Basketball State - - she responded said yes , but we might have to figure out another way of Shooting the 3 pointer - -I’m telling you I am afraid our Basketball Season is going to be screwed again by this virus - - starting of cancelling some games and if were not careful losing the Season - - AGAIN

  • Just another sign that we know that things are not going good. Out of Nemaha Co here in Kansas , just like so many others had opted out of Gov Kelly’s mask mandate when it was 1st issued. Now this :

Nemaha Co voted to rescind it’s July 2nd order of opting out of the mask mandate and NOW is ordering and implement the mandate immediately. Commissioners noted when they opted out initially that they only had 20 confirmed cases with no hospitalizations or Deaths.

As of Thursday they have 670 confirmed cases - -244 active cases 7 people have been hospitalized and 6 deaths the mandate will remain through Dec 14 and then reviewed to see if needs to be extended or not. - -Stating to see this more and more

  • Well we now have had Mobile morgue brought in to the hospital here in Topeka at Stor Mont Vail - -getting really bad

  • An good thread on Europe v US on this thing.
