@AsadZ Agree. So many other freshmen made so much more significant impact on their teams.

@wissox83 I remain a solid DP fan. But I'm not sure it's a great thing if he came back. None of this was his fault... but I think Self made a huge error in over-promoting DP before the season started by saying he was the most-talented player he has coached.

All that praise created the situation where our other players felt obligated to let DP take over games (which translated to them playing laid back).

Competition and "team play" overlap. I'm not saying players need to over-compete against each other, but no one gets a free pass. Players like Melvin were very capable of stealing more limelight this year.

I'm not trying to create drama here... the impact was actually subtle but when executed, we all know what we saw.

I wish no ill will feelings towards any of our players or Coach Self. This was a learning experience. And now we know!

I know the obvious is that DP goes pro... all that money awaits. But after this year played out, it doesn't really seem like DP is eager to go play in the NBA (No Boys Allowed) league. It's rough out there in the real world. His criticism here is just a mild case of what he will face in the NBA. And though it seems like many D1 fans are rough... this is nothing to how fans act at the next level.

What I'm saying is.. I think DP is gone because he also has people around him wanting to get paid. But if it truly is just DPs decision... I think he would prefer another year of seasoning before jumping over.

@drgnslayr He probably is but players have surprised. I hope he does come back. I think the injury ruined this entire season for us. Frustrated fans, probably the players and the coach. The kid, imagine being a freshman in college and having the entire sporting world that pays attention to such things calling out your character? Having KU fans insult you, probably in person, but definitely in social media. Heck I participated in it as well. At least some guys I'd guess would like to set the record straight and prove it on the court that he's the player everyone thought he was.

Will root for DP at any level. Hope he at least experienced enough of the chaotic joy of being a college freshman that it makes it a not so obvious decision whether he should leave for the league or not. Hope we see him back in Lawrence often at any rate.

I have a better chance at playing at KU next year than DP

Guys you are only fooling yourselves if you think DP is even remotely considering returning. Would I have taken just about another freshman that is on the draft board in hindsight? Yes a thousand times over. But I still think a lot of this isn’t on DP, Self and a bunch of his teammates would’ve called him out if he was faking thru his injuries. It sucked to watch all year not knowing his status. I’m not sure we can chalk it up to anything except crap luck at this point. Will suck to have a number 1 draft pick that we won absolutely nothing with but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

@FarmerJayhawk and you'd probably play more minutes

I’ll be rooting for him. He could’ve quit on his team like Mikel Brown and Jayden Quaintance but he didn’t.
