Gordon is Back
-
Sources are reporting that Royals have signed Gordon to a 4 year $72M deal.
This is a great news.
-
@AsadZ awesome news!
-
All we need now is a short stop that can hit like Zobrist, a power, everyday man in right field and one more starting pitcher.
-
Zobrist was such a versatile player for the Royals that he will be hard to replace; he would have been the primary player I would have liked the Royals to resign.
-
And the title defense can officially begin.
-
@wrwlumpy are you wanting to get rid of sexy esky?
-
@JayHawkFanToo I wanted to keep zobrist too, timely hitting!

@AsadZ great news!!! I know he gave up more money to be here so I’m glad he’s back just hope this doesn’t end up biting the Royals in the ass. They already owe decent money to one aging player (Omar Infante) and still need to sign the young guys to extensions and give Salvy what he’s worth.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Esky is great. Infante is perfect on defense but that’s it. Maybe Colon will be the starter and Infante becomes the off day utility guy.
-
Hopefully the Royals have enough cash left to sign one more player, either an upgrade at second base if prospects are not ready to take over for Omar, or decent starter. Rotation currently has Young, Volquez, Ventura, Duffy, and Vargas. I think Ventura pitches better this season, Volquez and Young stay about the same. Duffy and Vargas are question marks to me. I think Yovany Gallardo would be a good fit, and he would usually not go deep into games, but was effective in the 5.0-6.1 or so innings he averaged per start. This would synergies well with he KC bullpen.
-
@Mikey-P I think they absolutely have to get another pitcher still. Vargas won’t be ready day 1 will he? And I think we may lean on Young early, and then hope a AAA guy is ready later in the season, or go ahead and trade for another starter like Cueto last season. You are forgetting about Medlin too…
-
Great day for my two favorite teams. Gordon re-ups with the Royals…nice to see David Glass open up the pocketbook. And Ken Griffey Jr. makes it into the Hall Of Fame !
-
@wrwlumpy @Mikey-P Word is the R’s are chasing 31 yr old RH Ian Kennedy of the Padres. Not sure it’s a blessing or not. He was 9 - 15 with an ERA of 4.28 in 2015. If he can do 5-6 good innings to get to the BP he might be ok. With those numbers he shouldn’t break the bank.
-
I have confidence in Moore & his staff in finding couple of good pitchers without breaking the bank.
