##Newell: Small improvements give Bill Self hope for KU basketball defensively##

LAWRENCE — It was hard to argue with the video.

On one play, Perry Ellis would stand and watch a defensive rebound instead of boxing out. On another, he wouldn’t even try to go after the ball.

###Dodd: Self grows weary of talk surrounding Embiid, NBA###

LAWRENCE — At some point over the next couple weeks, KU basketball coach Bill Self and Joel Embiid will talk about the future. We know this because Self says they will. Nothing formal. Nothing official. Just a coach trying to gauge what his player is thinking: Will Embiid, a freshman center, be back for his sophomore season, or is he leaning toward leaving for the NBA Draft?

###Smith: Recap: Bill Self talks West Virginia and much more###

Kansas basketball coach Bill Self met with the media Friday afternoon to talk about the Jayhawks’ upcoming home game against West Virginia, as well as a variety of other topics.

    No. 8 KU (17-5 overall, 8-1 Big 12) plays host to the Mountaineers (14-9, 6-4) at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Here are the highlights from Self’s comments in bullet-point form…

  • Dunk funky is PDKOOL. Geat quote Bill. Dunk funky on BMac is PDKOOL. Wiggs could be … and I reiterate, “could be the best” if only…fill in the blanks here men…I don’t want to say what I think.

  • @globaljaybird Wily Bill, applying the needle on Wiggs.

  • How many times can these reporters keep asking the “NBA” question? It is really unbelievable. What’s the kid going to say? “Yea, I’m definitely leaving?” Or “I’m definitely staying.”

Classic case of the media trying to create a story when there is no story.

These guys can’t just play their season without the constant harassment of whether they’re going to make a future decision to turn pro? It’s really pathetic in my opinion.

  • @HighEliteMajor Agreed. Takes away from the College Experience.

  • What I hope to see during todays game: (Olympic version)

Coach Self do one of those flips the cheerleaders do after a made basket.

@Jaybate do two of those flips the cheerleaders do after a made basket.

Bob Huggins try one of those flips and land flat on his noggin.

The sun shine through the windows of AFH onto the crowd and someone take a picture of it and post it here.

Before attempting a FT Joel grabbing a mic and telling the world that he will stay and kill Wildcats and Longhorns and Cowboys with his bare hands.

Wiggins dunk and leave change on top of the shot clock while dunking.

Make a new crossover sport with an Olympic theme, basketball players on ice skates.

Make another Olympic themed sport, replace the basketball with a curling stone.

Yet another Olympic themed event, basketball players on luges, we could call it The Biggest Luger.

Joel set the basketball world on fire with the first ever Triple Triple.

JamTray attempt a Triple Axel on a dunk.

Tarik Black attempt a fore check on a WV layup attempt, oh wait, he does that about 4 times a game.

Huggins and his players sitting in the kiss and cry room, crying.

Tonya Harding have her goons attack Huggins.

Mogul skiing down the steps of AFH.

Judges add style points and degree of difficulty points to shots made.

Ski jump ramps down the bleachers with players flying across the court and dunking themselves.

“How many times can these reporters keep asking the “NBA” question? It is really unbelievable. What’s the kid going to say? “Yea, I’m definitely leaving?” Or “I’m definitely staying.””

It is because most of the media doesn’t prepare for interviews. Most of the media doesn’t know an interesting question to ask Joel… only the obvious. Heck… any of us in here could interview him for an hour and keep it interesting!

Better yet… look up the price on what they are trading for!

  • @wissoxfan83 CLASSIC post! I’m excited to play in AFH, again. Love it when the crowd chants JaaaaaaaayNewNew!

  • @drgnslayr – you’re right, the media is generally lazy when it comes to that.

What I’d like to see asked of Embiid

    1. What is your go-to move?

    2. Who taught it to you or how did you learn the move?

    3. What player has been your toughest matchup this season?

    4. In what phase of the game do you feel the weakest?

    5. What have you improved at most while at KU?

    6. Why did you pop that K-State dude in the mouth?

    7. Why don’t you use that sweet little hook shot more often?

    8. Do you feel like you are in excellent shape, conditioning wise?

    9. Why don’t you try to split a double team every so often?

    10. Do you want another piece of Cameron Ridley?

    That’s just 10.

  • @HighEliteMajor I think approxinfinity needs to get you a KU Buckets press pass so you can do those interviews. Our man on the scene.

  • @tundrahok Second that!
