Don't Go Bat-Crazed just because Iowa State lost a game

I find it interesting that media outlets are so quick to dismiss our WUG gold because overseas talent is sub par. ISU lost over seas this summer so what are your thoughts on that?
Peterson: Cyclones’ loss against Venezuela. Big Whup
Similar to KU/KUSA wins WUG gold. Big Whup
Any thoughts?

After reading the article I see that ISU was short handed. Big Whup
KU was minus 3 future NBA players. Big Whup Greene, Diallo, Svi

haters gonna hate.

I’m guessing half the State of Iowa suffers from severe migraines every year because the press likes to stir the pot with Kansas. And even when they beat us 2 out of 3 games, they still lose out. They just keep thinking a victory here and there will make them supreme over a real basketball legacy program. Their fans have an insatiable hunger, lifting their blood pressures and forming the base for their migraines. I’m sure pharma loves all of this.
ISU Clones basketball… big whup. It’s great that they improve to help our conference and make conference play more interesting. But they will never become an elite program. Never. Big whup.

@Statmachine Brannen Greene is not a future NBA player. There’s too many players that have better overall skill sets than Greene that also have comparable shooting ability.
-
@Statmachine I think its telling that Iowa St lost to a team KU would have beaten by 20+. It says to me that KU is ready now and Iowa St, who is supposed to be one of our main challengers this season has quite a bit of work to do.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I’m with @Statmachine. I think he will make an NBA roster.
BG plays defense like an 8th grader at an AAU tournament. He has the lateral movement of an elephant. Many times he has the basketball IQ of your best friends annoying girlfriend. And, while many players do many, many things better than BG, they do NOTHING at an NBA caliber level. BG has one thing he can do, and he can do it well. Always a spot on a roster for a guy that can shoot it like he can. I’m not saying he is a first or even a draft pick at all. But, someone will definitely pick him up for cheap. The only way I don’t see him sitting the bench in the NBA is if someone overseas offers him a more lucrative deal.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 HCBS said he will play in the NBA. I will take his word for it.
-
@Statmachine Because Bill Self is going to go dream killer on one of his players.
-
Most national sports broadcast media commentators apparently suffer from penile or vaginal dwarfism. I no longer see much more to it than that. Oh, there is a good bit of media market size bias, but sex organ dwarfism appears to explain a lot.
-
When operable, BG is not an NBA prospect. Post operable, yes, if full recovery. Most any 6-7 guy that can run the floor and shoot 40% from trey, while operable, will get an NBA opportunity, if fully recovered.
-
Can’t say if he will stick; that depends on defense.
-
I think @Texas-Hawk-10 meant “Because Bill Self is not going to go dream killer on one of his players.”
And I thought that when Self made the comment about BG and the NBA. That he was pumping the kid up because he knew where BG sat in the pecking order, but perhaps also saw his potential.
With Greene, I just don’t know right now. If Self doesn’t place significant value on the three pointer, a player with the three point shot as his primary weapon (logically) would not have much value.
