Darryn catching heat. Its silly to me. Let him heal. Lets not assume he wont play again: https://www.si.com/college/kansas/basketball/darryn-peterson-injury-has-become-an-unhealthy-distraction-for-kansas

It's a distraction but sitting out doesn't make a ton of sense. He is NOT locked in at the #1 pick, boozer has been playing great

Let’s all try to be supportive of DP at this point. It sucks all around, @rcjhdraft I’d guess he’s outta the top 10 if the draft happened tomorrow. Most of the mock drafts haven’t been updated since play started. Wilson at UNC and Boozer look like better players at this point and several others are close. The article I showed on the old site that espn did last week didn’t list DP has a top 10 freshman right now and I agree. He has to play to be a top 10 freshman.

@approxinfinity You're right, but it's hard for many of us to understand. He's young. He's got professional trainers working on him constantly. If it's a hamstring, you'd think it would be healed by now.

And the season is about 1/4 over.

@nuleafjhawk i dont think its been 6-8 weeks and that would be at a minimum imo

My personal feeling is that when he comes back -if he comes back, it will take at least 10 games to get in game shape, to establish a flow and team unity. And what if he reinjures himself? Maybe the team is better off at this point to keep him as a cheerleader

@nuleafjhawk @approxinfinity thats what makes it hard and frustrating. We have zero idea if it is a sprain or partial tear that would be that 6-8 weeks area. With Bill saying he is day to day and almost a 100% I’d lean towards it’s a bad sprain at this point. If not it’s turned into smoke and mirrors

@kjayhawks2.0 under the hood sprain and tear are the same thing? I think? Always been confusing to me. Which supports your point. Hard to know what is really going on

@approxinfinity I’m not a doctor but I believe tears to be much worse than sprains from what I’ve seen

From Dr. Google. A sprain is a mild tear.

Whether it’s a sprain or he just recently had a knee replacement, here's what I know. And any of you who have played competitive sports know this. When DP finally takes the court theres going to be at least a couple of guys who are thinking/ saying "hey, I've been busting my ass. Every practice, every minute of every game and I'm being benched for someone who's missed....fill in the blank for timeline. Us fans want it to be a one big happy family team sport, but it doesn't always work out that way..

I know some people think I have a bad attitude, but I really just want to be realistic. I wish there was never a need for this thread. That he would have shown up healthy, average 20 pts per game and we're 9-0.

                                    @nuleafjhawk

We just can't escape the elephant in the room... This young man is a walking Fort Knox. It is likely he will make over $100 million in his career.

I don't care if he sprained a toe nail. The guy should sit as long as needed. And he will basically have to walk out on the court to earn his old job back.

And if it's me being replaced for some minutes, I'm cool with it. If I want to keep my minutes, I better go out there and outplay him.

Just my opinion, and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

@drgnslayr As far as the ongoing team narrative, I think the script last night was perfect. We were good enough to hang with #5 and for the first half looked like the better team. We just weren't good enough to put them away. Translation, Darryn doesn't need to come in and blow anything up. Come in for 16-20 minutes in that game, score efficiently in double digits and play decent defense and we win that game. Not a big ask. Get healthy, do that, and sparkle in limited minutes. Then drop a couple nukes in the tournament.

@nuleafjhawk makes it even harder and wonder when you see him dressed out and then during time outs you see him bouncing around outside of the huddle and giggling talking to other players,

I think there is more going on then what we know , I think his handler's/agent have their arms in up to their elbows deep in this
