I don’t wanna say it’s the biggest one but feels like the most important offseason in a decade.

  • Need to surround Peterson with talent. It’ll be nice to have some nba talent on the team again.

It’s the biggest I believe unless I’ve forgot another one. This one is staring us in the face and we have only 2 potential starters on the roster right now. I know we can fret over Coit and Jackson potentially starting but ideally neither is asked to do so.

  • With very few returning players I hope a nucleus of young talent is brought together that will carry the “Jayhawk way” forward for the next several years. Unfortunately it will more likely be a bunch of free agent hires.

While watching double A basketball (it’s more like AA baseball than the ncaa) beats the other minor leagues - Euro and G league, it’s not what it used to be. For better or worse.

  • @dylans

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Peterson leading with the young returnees + Coit who seemed like a positive culture veteran. He wasn’t here last offseason and will get a chance to lead by example as the veteran in the room. I’m actually optimistic that aspect of the team will be improved with the guys who are moving on. Now if we get a bunch of Storr/Griffen types in the portal that could obviously erode my optimism, but I think we’ll see better there.

  • Apologies in advance…but if Coit is the best we can do, we’re in trouble.

I’m looking at all these big, strong guards with multiple skill sets in the tournament, and Coit just doesn’t measure up.

sure, he can hit a streaky 3, but c’mon man.

We can’t settle for guys like Coit and hope to succeed on any level moving forward.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s why I’m beating the drum on every outlet I can that we need a talent upgrade just as much as we needed a roster reset. They aren’t talented/good enough and with all of coach’s resources that’s on him and his staff.

  • Like, what are we talking about with Coit? He’s fine as the 8th pr 9th guy. Obviously you can’t start him at this level.

Just wait to see Bill do just that next year. Other board saying he already has a leg up on Elmarko

  • @kuballin10 I agree with you BShark I think Diggy is just fine when he comes back coming off the Bench a that relief guy. He did well last night filling in for Juan picked up that 2nd foul early - -Nobody talking about him starting

  • @SlimShaddy54 They are on the other site……and everyone is much like they should asking wth would diggy even be considered as a starter over a transfer or Elmarko

Bill played 3 big men this year - two which can only dunk

Him starting diggy next to dp early on because diggy knows his system and does well in practice seems like a foregone conclusion at this point. I wouldn’t put anything past Self

I don’t think they will be banking on Coit, he’s not even supposed to be here next yr but the recent juco ruling gives him the opportunity to play another yr. His size and weaknesses are certainly an issue but if he’s in the same role as this yr I have no problem. Remember he was a late signee to begin with. He could always improve, seen plenty of guys his size impact the game. Big offseason for him as well

    Won’t happen.

  • Just a general statement on Coit type players.

We need bigger, better to get back into upper echelon status.

I hope he and others like him are an afterthought in future recruiting.

Yeah it’s time to get back to the bigger guards in the Tyshawn model.

  • @rockchalkjayhawk

Agree we lack size and athleticism and it’s been the issue for years now and doesn’t get corrected

  • @kuballin10 I would bet the farm he ISN’T starting Diggy. If you even give that a 2nd thought of being true I got some swamp land in Florida for sale would love to sell you

  • Nothing but good things being said about Kohl. It’s early though, we will see when games start.

  • Swain today basically saying Kohl is likely to start.

  • @BShark

It sounds like he might have to out of necessity with the Dawson injury and him not being as prepared to have a big role as they thought getting him from the portal.

I’m really interested to see if the hype is real on this kid. Could be a complete steal the way he’s talked up.

  • Jeez, how bad is the Dawson injury?? KU seems to have a pretty good year over year unfortunate trend of hurt kids! Shak Moore, Pettiford, Cuffe, MJ Rice.

Bummer. Sounds like Kohl puts in the effort on D, but has a ways to go? Not sure Self will be loving that so much at the git go.

Here’s to Kohl being the next Och…

  • It depends how much Self trusts Kohl. If Kohl earns his trust Self will allow him to play through his mistakes. If not, he will get benched whenever he has a “bone-headed” turnover or is out of position on defense, a la Rylan Griffen.

  • I had been hearing that Coach has been impressed by Kohl, saying he was more bouncy then he thought , whatever that means , says he was afraid to get to the boards, not afraid to get dirty etc. Talk has been going to be hard to keep him out of the starting line up.
