Football Musings

  • @Gorilla72 I think him and Puni have a good shot with Bean of making a roster. Puni probably gets drafted in the 3 day, Neal as well if he goes. Bean has speed that you can teach and looking at guys like Jackson for Baltimore, someone will take that project(not saying he’s as good as Jackson was at UL).

  • I’d have to watch more, but Cobbee looks like he has NFL potential.

  • Very thankful for our donors and NIL infrastructure.

  • The Chryst noise grows louder. But to be clear, would not be as OC

Bump. Post Washington scare, NIL fundraising for football has been very strong

  • Heard that suite demand is really good for the new stadium. That should result in phase 2 getting done quickly

They have $100M yet to raise and current phase 2 plans do not include suites. Very good sources

Ditto, the suite demand should help close that gap anyhow. And good to have you back bud!

  • There’s been significant turnover behind the scenes in the analyst room but hearing the guys they brought in are really good. I don’t remember the names offhand but ones from Nebraska and another from Indiana (he almost got the CB Coach job).

And maybe the most important guy you don’t know about is back. Matt Lubick will continue his role until he’s healthy. Would’ve been the OC pick had he been able to take it.

  • Offers in the portal going out like crazy. All to DE/LB types

  • Heard through the grapevine that Grimes isn’t as much of an option Coach, Farmer what you think ? - -Coach K could run that option had defenses really confused at times. - -Grimes not so much more dives and such-- yes ? - -no ?

Is Grimes going to keep this offense rolling Farmer, K was Dynamic type that could really put points on the board, K made some great play calls really diversified Is Grimes offense going to be able to move the ball/ score ?- love the wide open style of Coach K , are the playes going to be happy with Grimes play calling ?—what you think ?

No Big Uglies on the DL ? - -gonna be kind of touch and go as I heard pretty much like one in - one out. - -Pushing that 85 Max --hoping for depth some Big boys hold the fort on line of scrimmage on the DL–No big Uglies offered Farmer ?

  • @jayballer67 a lot of the option stuff was from Matt Lubick’s brain and he’s off to Reno as their OC. Grimes is a lot more pro style in outlook

We’re good at DT. Dunn, Whithers, Derritt, Caldwell, and Taylor is a decent group. The real need is pass rush

    Good. Huge area of need.

  • Several more already out today. TBD if we can get any of them but it won’t be from lack of trying

  • Early yet but feel good about Jaxon Howard, formerly DE at LSU

that’s good to hear. Hopefully land. - -25 commits have been kinda slow, one so far right McCombs. I realize we are butting up against max, and so far haven’t heard much on transfers out. Guess I shouldn’t be complaining about that, as that means these kids are really invested into Coach L and the way he is building this program back.

God I really like this guy , have I told you lately how much I like Coach L lol.- somebody did their home work on getting him here , so glad w didn’t waste anymore time on more not so good Coach’s—ROCK CHALK

  • @jayballer67 there was one transfer out today, nobody who was going to contribute so that’s ok I suppose. HS stuff will really pick up once school is out

  • @FarmerJayhawk said in Football Musings:

YA, I realize not going to be a big class by any means like I said earlier going to be petty much like one in - - one out. but a few years back we wasn’t even close to max limit–now look. Got some depth- – got better talented players AND a way better Coach. Hell a few yrs back had to Canel spring game cause we had to many players hurt- -look just how far we have come in what three years with Coach L-- -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer67 very true. The 25 class will be MASSIVE though. Like 30+ including transfers. Might be Lance’s most important class in his entire time at KU

Get’s me hyped buddy, for some football already lol. How long has it been when you had people looking forward to the Season. Actually thinking we can be very competitive in this instead of well how bad we getting drubbed today ? - -20- -30 point loss?- -Not anymore buddy- – NOT any more.-- ROCK CHALK

  • Suite demand is much better than expected. West side almost completely sold

  • @FarmerJayhawk said in Football Musings:

I know this is a crazy question , but will this help moneywise for or toward Phae two of the stadium.— - I’m just afraid the dam thing is going to sit two-three year or longer trying to get the fund for phase two- -we will have half a renovation and then all we will get to hear is we knew they couldn’t generate the funds for that kind of stadium.

Hopefully they have tarted fund drive/campaign for phase two , would love to ee this complete----be an awesome stadium

  • @jayballer67 it certainly helps. I can pretty much guarantee the east side renovation won’t start until after the 2026 season at the earliest

ye I agree, and that’s frustrating , it’ jut ad we can’t complete the whole reno.— I understand, with thin new thing of the School having to come up with this money— -Then you got the NIL now that we have to or need to have to keep up with the Jone’s is all added expense - -not being able to find a suitor for certain things that’s included in the reno sure doesn’t help----hope thing turn out on a positive note

  • A lot of fundraising left to do. Endowment stepped up big to make Phase I happen but that is not the plan for Phase II.

Call me a skeptic on how Phase II pans out. Going to be heavily dependent on how the team performs. Not fair to the team and coaches, but it’s the truth.
