Don’t mean to interrupt the shitting on kuballin, but was wondering if anyone had a program vibes update on if Kugel’s transfer will get worked out?

He needs to get about 6 credits sorted out. There is optimism around the situation.
-
@FarmerJayhawk Yeah that’s 100% what I said - solid analysis there Farmer.
People hammer Cal for his roster talent and 1 title
Bill’s had the same talent and has 2 with all those 1 seeds ect. Something to dive into there….and yes, it has to do with philosophy and minute distribution
-
@Jhawk69 I mean seems to be 100% proof.
Selby could least athletically compete with vcu in 2012……fluke or not go figure another team careers it from deep against us. Every team does it’s almost like it has to do with the defensive system the guys are coaches on……
-
@BShark can’t he just take some summer courses and call it good?
-
@kuballin10 I’d argue Bill doesn’t have the same talent as Cal. Kentucky almost always has over 5-6 5 star guys. Cal just doesn’t coach them up. Most stay a yr and move on to the NBA. Look at our Championship yr, how many 5 stars did we have? Our coaches always find hidden talented guys then coach them up. They stay awhile and get better. Once in awhile we get a Wiggs and an embiid. Not often. As we know now, Kentucky fans were getting tired of that.

Self has 100% absolutely not been handed the same talent as Cal… That is an insane comment.
-
@Woodrow The dumbest comment I’ve read in years frankly. Just look at how many are still in the NBA. It’s not close. Cal has unreal talent constantly.
-
@BShark NIT coach!

@jayballer67 I attempted to scan all of that.
I’ll stick to my point if Juan plays 30-35 mpg we will not win a title. We will be lucky to get to the final 4.
You can quote those team accolades for him but it shows guys on the podcast and many other supporters didn’t bother to watch what took place against creighton, providence and unc…… just complete revisionist history
Team acoledes is what it’s about sparky. You don’t win a Championship OR lose a Championship because of one plyer. No matter how hard you have it for Juan, there is no way possible that he could lose a championship by himself. - So many other things contribute to that.
Again simple question AGAIN - -how many Championships that you would much rather play Pg for us instead of Juan - - Simple question - -how many Championships did those golden boys win ? - - Go ahead I’ll wait… Here let me help you out - - -NONE or if they got lucky ONE just like Juan - -not anymore - -how’s that for your 5* wonders ? -chaps your ass a little doesn’t it? -they didn’t do any better then the one you lose sleep over cause he plays - -dam don’t that just bite your ass roflmao.
Juan is a typical pass oriented Pg. - -Always has been -always will be -and STILL done as much as your golden spooned Bitch’s - What is KU’s record overall with Juan running the point ?— And won a Natty on top of that - -I’d say pretty dam good. Hang in there sparky, you just keep barking, maybe some day you will gt somebody to listen to babble on and on. - Have a great day- – -ROCK CHALK

And… Cal’s one championship was beating Bill by 6 points with a loaded roster and KU coming back. We just ran out of time that game. Guess Cal got a lucky draw to face Kansas!

Bill Self with Teahan playing 21 mpg and a couple of non-NBA pros vs Calipari with a hall of famer (not joking) and 4 more guys that lasted 6+ real years in the NBA.
Zero doubt who the better coach is.
-
@BShark Justin Wesley was a rotation player on that team.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 didn’t Keith Langford pay for his tuition?
-
Oh my god Billlllll SELF is BAAAAAAAAAAACK
-
@BShark eh?
-
This post is deleted!

If all comes to pass idk how in the world it’s all going to come together but it will be spectacular

Bill is not done. Might see another REAL guy commit this week.
Options are Jaxson Robinson and mystery wing (I’m trying my best to get this second name).
-
The Billy Eugene DGAF Tour continues apace
-
Like Robinson isn’t that good but he is an absolute loose cannon off the bench and that has its appeal

Isn’t Robinson from BYU ?-- - or am I thinking of wrong guy ?
-
IF we get another commit , must mean Kugel is out for sure then right? - To open the Scholi.
-
@jayballer67 Not necessarily, with Philon decommitting we are currently sitting with one 1 open schollie.

Oh Billy my goaaaat

Could be awhile IF it’s Robinson , as he has enter the NBA draft to. read he is predicted to be drafted. So he has till what May 31st to pull out of the draft if he ends up returning to College.
They are counting on him coming to UK of course, be re-united with Pope.

I will report the name as soon as I have it.

@FarmerJayhawk He’s not coming here to come off the bench……

@BShark That year no doubt Self didn’t have AD but trob and Tyshawn ect were legit.
What I’m saying is he has a top 1-3 roster every single year and we are constantly ranked number 1/2/3 all these years and he’s got 2 titles to show for it. Anyone not think through that?

Tell us how many coaches have won more than 2 national titles all time.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 K, Wooden, Rupp, Roy, Knight, Calhoun. 6.
-
@approxinfinity I know the number. But someone else here doesn’t appreciate just how hard it is to win a national title, let alone two or more.
-
Looks like 9 have 2, including Self, making him a top 15 all-time coach already, by that metric. (I know you know, but I’ll answer in order to move this conversation forward, because I don’t think the socratic method works for everyone )
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 It’s difficult in a one a done tourney but Self needs to get more in that 4-5 range
-
And standings post 85 expansion: K: 5 Roy, Calhoun: 3 Donovan, Pitino, Hurley, Self: 2
-
@kuballin10 said in Transfer Rumblings:

So he needs to do something that literally only one other coach in the modern era has done to be validated to you? Cool
-
@FarmerJayhawk but but but Bill needs to get 4-5 to warrant the oxygen he consumes.

ONE MORE TIME , let me try and slow this down for you so you can understand. - -You say Self has got 2 titles with all these top 1-3 rosters every single year , can throw that right back at you Calipari had all these # 1 ranked- -# 2ranked recruiting classes -even top 5 classes practically EVERY YEAR na dhow many titles does Calipari how many did he have at Kentucky - -You not think through that -holy crap man wake up. Calipari has had better rosters almost every year over Ku according to services and has done nothing with them - - Shows who can Coach better and develop better better classes or not. Dam man

maybe he can have some of Ballin’s I’m sure he wouldn’t mind sharing with Bill lmao

I explained to you earlier that the argument of “Self should have more titles” is the smartest way to bash Self. Honestly I commend you for trying to play your best card. However, you don’t understand why Self “only” has two titles. When you come up with an idea, you should analyze the idea and see if facts corraborate it before wholeheartedly believing it.
In other words, the theory that Self’s teams get upset in the tournament because Self chooses to play high-floor/low-ceiling players and thus creates high-floor/low ceiling teams holds absolutely no water. Let us take 2011 as an example. That team went 35-3 and had multiple impressive wins, including against Arizona and Texas, who were both top 10 teams (and both significantly better and more athletic than VCU). So to argue that we did not have the ceiling to beat VCU makes no sense.
The other example you provided was us playing Jamari Traylor, who was just a bench player who came in to relieve Perry Ellis and Landon Lucas. It is hard to see Traylor getting bench minutes as the kind of situation that cripples our ceiling but let’s look at this team anyways. That team went 33-5 and had multiple top-25 wins including 4 top 10 wins. Too low a ceiling to win a title? No. If you can beat top 10 teams your ceiling is fine.
If I were you I would argue that Self does not mentally prepare his teams for the tournament well enough. There is evidence for this, unlike the low-ceiling argument. We have missed open jumpers and free throws at astonishingly high rates in elimination games. Start your arument here, think through what you say, and take it from there.
-
Have we confirmed that our Bill Self/Dajuan Harris basher on this board isn’t actually Remy Martin?
-
@jayballer67 Everyone knows Cal’s a horrible coach and Bill is a good coach. Doesn’t mean Bill hasn’t underachieved with the rosters he’s had.
When Hurley can match u in two years or Scott Drew of all dudes is 1 title away from tying u that isn’t saying much
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 Nah it’s moreso for all the people acting like he’s the goat. He will yet again have the best roster this year and we won’t capitalize in March with a third title. Other coaches maximize top rosters but he seems to struggle with getting them to gel and be ready come tourney time.
If he’s considered the goat coach and in this era then yeah winning only two titles his entire career won’t differentiate him from your boy Hurley
-
@focojayhawk Only reason goat isn’t tied with Scott Drew is because he sat his precious pet nutted up and played a real pg…….
