Recruiting Notes

A high level talent with an advanced midrange game. He absolutely knows what he’s doing inside the arc. The perimeter shot is good enough but will need work. Good length at the wing, probably an Ochai type ball handler that needs to improve there. No clue what he offers defensively or on the boards but is athletic enough to fit right in and learn. His offensive game certainly intrigues especially for the future. Hopefully this happens

Well wonder how Tucker enjoyed his visit ? - -Hope went well, I know Jeremy said he was going to hang out with a recruit ( didn’t say the name ) don’t think he can say individual name unless signed. – Anyways hope he had a good time and we can land him. - -Probably would be a spring signee getting to late for early recruits I think that ends tomorrow right ?
-
His camp keeps things very private so I wouldn’t expect an interview or anything.

Yep. Either nothing or suddenly a commitment is announced. Lol.

Lmao legitimately his camp is extremely quiet. Our best bet might be hoping to get the old faithful tweet from Trilly.

Looks like Tucker will not be a mid-year option. Swain reporting he is not in a rush to decide, won’t sign during early period and does not appear to be looking to reclassify and join early. Bummer

Logistics were a mess, would have had to join like over 2 weeks into January because of his school schedule I believe.
-
Waiting on Swain to answer but I’m wondering if he’s still a target for the staff if he stays in 24.

Appreciate you for the answer.

Yupp but I was hoping for a miracle. We absolutely still need a body. I know it may not seem like a big deal right now since the season is young but I can just see it now once injuries start leaving us with 7 or 8 bodies. Was hoping we can avoid this scenario

Definitely still looking for one. Seems like it would have to be a foreign player at this point due to logistics.
-
Vern already saying they still looking for an international player but that’s not new info. Guess we’ll let Bill cook in the lab and see what comes out before the new year.
-
A lot of praise for Philon on rivals for his play the past week.

I like his “wiggle”. I hope it shows up at the KU level.

He looks a lot better at shot creation especially in regards to creating his own shot than I anticipated. Honestly he looked on the same level as Tre in the game I watched.

Darryn Peterson is one to watch. Kid is the real deal and just signed a major NIL deal with Adidas.
-
^ I’d listen to this guy on that…

He’s 16. I’m guessing he’s a class of ‘25 not a reclass to ‘24 candidate?
-
@dylans Supposedly for '24. Kentucky fans had been writing him into their line-up for next year before the Adidas thing.
-
Edit
Dylan Harper announcing Wednesday. All official picks are for Rutgers.
Never visited Kansas so yeah

Reclassified to 2024 possible?

Reclassified to 2024 possible?
Last I heard on that is it was being worked on but not a lock. I haven’t asked about that since the inital Adidas thing however.
I’m hoping to hear back from someone soon regarding Peterson.
If anyone missed it, Harper did commit to Rutgers. Rumor is Rutgers is switching to Nike so that’s interesting.
-
So what kind of NIL package does Rutgers offer?
This is lining up with one of my assumptions about NIL. That unexpected schools in large tv markets would suddenly start pulling studs.
Guess Rutgers is Nike-NY?
-
@approxinfinity What was stopping them before? If you believe everything is over the table, why didn’t they pony up for a coach? Where is the new money coming from that wasn’t there before? I just see it as being over the table now, but maybe there is more dollars available and I’m being jaded.
edit - this isn’t really directed at you @approxinfinity just random musings related to your post.
-
Rutgers has wealthy alumni. As always, it’s about having some who care about sports.
-
@BShark @dylans well yeah, they have money, but NIL seems to empower the ability to aggregate a set of athletes in any market at any school, if the market can bear it. Im sure NYC is very juicy for shoecos.
Im curious how much of the incentives is coming from Nike.
I do think operating with the appearance of being above board matters to Nike.
-
Don’t think Harper would have been a fit either tbh. We’ll be fine
-
Are we just going to ignore the family connection here that Dylan’s brother also played for Rutgers for the same coach?
I’m just going to go out on a limb and believe that was a big factor in Dylan choosing Rutgers over other schools.
-
That’s why KU never really pushed and if they did they knew what was likely the outcome anyway as did everyone
-
@BShark @Woodrow I don’t usually get too excited about reclassifications for 5 stars but seems like he would have to stay here for 2 years before being draft eligible?
If not, '25 may be better. I feel like 1 and done reclasses rarely work. Even the best 17 yr olds tend to struggle to have a significant impact their first year in college.
-
@MR11 And then blame everyone, but themselves for their lack of success as they transfer out.
-
Sanon no longer visiting per Shay.
Sebastian Williams-Adams will be visiting for the Yale game.
-
Brutal
-
-
I like SWA’s game a lot. Good fit at the 4 spot for us. Could see us putting the hammer down.
-
25 kid or reclass type?
-
@BeddieKU23 Not sure. He would be 18 by the time the season starts next year so not super young.
-
Also Bossi says Sanon visit to KU will still happen, just later.
-
Good comp for SWA that I saw is a blend of Mark Mitchell and Harrison Ingram. If you need a forced KU comp, a more athletic Jalen. But he’s more point forward compared to Jalen being a natural volume scorer. Really nice player overall.
-
-
@BShark is the #uncommitted tag the important part?
-
Now who is this that was visiting ? -was this from last Night ?
-
Big day for unofficial visits. Multiple kids from '26 in the house.
Jalen Montonati and Aidan Chronister, both very good players.

Too early to handicap chances?
-
@rcjhdraft Early leader for Chronister (he wanted to commit on the visit), though he doesn’t have a KU offer at this time. Friend of a friend was the guy that was with the kid on the visit. Handler could be a term used though I’m not sure it fully applies. I’m also not sure he’s a KU level guy right now. Obviously a bit hard to project this far out. I’d like to see him go to a prep school.
I do not know much on Montonati currently but I’m asking around. He’s a top 10 guy so it will be a goat rodeo.
-
@BShark Why no offer? Top 30 recruit. It seems you could do worse. 2026 is a ways off though.
