To go one further, KU was also the better team in the OSU game. This team was a few plays away from being 11-1 and sitting one game away from playoff football. That hurts a bit but also goes to show this is one of the greatest program turnarounds in football history.
You raise a good point with UT/OU leaving there is going to be a power vacuum in football. If Lance hangs around long enough, we have as good of a chance as any to fill that void.
But I thought Colorado had the greatest turnaround in college football, uh even sports history!!
@benshawks08 If you ever take something @nuleafjhawk writes as serious again we’re going to ban you from this board and have you committed!
-
@wissox That was supposed to be the joke. Guess it didn’t land. I figured people would catch it as my “more reasonable” prediction was only a few points off of his National Championship prediction. lol
-
@benshawks08 Ah, to be honest, I should have read your entire comment then I would have seen your humor!
-
I think any team that has their first winning record in 15 years is totally within their rights to predict an NC the next year. Sell hats & shirts, make a mint! Hell, go ahead and start contacting season ticket holders to reserve playoff tickets!
-
@mayjay Exactly, I already got mine from some guy living under the Mass St. Bridge in the Kaw. Can’t wait to go!
-
@wissox Lucky!! (Hearing Napoleon Dynamite in my head)
-
@patoh3 That movie was well-named. It made me want to dynamite my head.
-
@mayjay gosh seriously? Such a good movie.
Does that make you Napoleon?
-
How many movies are that down to earth, positive in their message, loving and patient in their character development.
That movie shows you the good in EVERY SINGLE character. In a world full of cinema that shows us everyones internal darkness, Napoleon Dynamite reminds us to see the good in everyone and shows us that compassion and friendship can still rule the day.
Its beautiful.

@approxinfinity Our old preacher looked like napoleon’s brother Kip. He weirded me out from day one, but he was able to ingratiate him self to the community. Unfortunately instincts usually prove right - (It turns out his Dad was a child molester, not him though) and the good preacher ended up being less than a good man and abandoned his family of adopted kids to be free of responsibility. Loser.
-
That sucks.
Did he look like Kip before or after Lafawndahs makeover?
-
@approxinfinity I’ll just chalk it up to a generation gap.
-
@mayjay made my top 5 worst movies I’ve seen list.
-
@kjayhawks what are your top 5 best movies?
-
@nuleafjhawk Oooh, can I play?
12 Angry Men, Ben Hur, Dr. Strangelove, To Kill a Mockingbird, and It’s a Wonderful Life
-
@approxinfinity gold chain. So after - no bandana though. Lol
-
@mayjay The actor who played the cabbie in It’s a wond…life also played a cabbie in like 6 other movies.
I taught with someone who went to beverly hills HS and she told me (and she was younger) that her school still had the pool under the gym floor.
I laugh all day long at Napoleon @dynomitehawk . He’s one we need to get back to these pages. “Hide Yo Kids” was his line at the beginning of a game!
Not sure if I can do 5 but The 7 Samurai, The Mission, Blues Brothers, To End All Wars and The video’s of KU’s 1988 championship game!
-
@nuleafjhawk It’s easier to tear down, than build up. I know you didn’t ask, but I hadn’t considered it really. Here’s a stab. Might change with more thought.
Pulp Fiction
Fight Club
Princess Bride
Back to the Future
Shawshank Redemption
The last three I could watch anytime they are on.
-
@dylans Nice.
I lean towards comedies. Like you, my list changes depending on the day and circumstances. Today I’d tell you that my Top 5 (probably not in order) are:
Pitch Perfect
Just Friends
Remember the Titans
Apollo 13
My Best Friend’s Wedding
My wife will vouch for me that I’ve seen the first two at least 50 times. Oh! Speaking of 50, let’s make 50 First Dates a tie with MBFW.
-
@mayjay you can absolutely play! I hope everyone does! It’s interesting how we all think. Of the movies on your list, the only one I’ve ever seen (endured) is “Wonderful Life”. My wife watches it every year and I read or nap. Lol.
-
@nuleafjhawk One cool thing that work has provided was an opportunity to hear Jim Lovell speak. He was an interesting fellow. - Lovell insisted on picking Tom Hanks up from the airport (when Tom was studying Jim for the Apollo 13 movie) in his little Cessna to give him a ride back to his place. Lovell put Hanks thru his paces - did a bunch of dives and loops - but Tom held on to his lunch and impressed Jim in that process. lol. It’s a fun story to hear Lovell tell.
-
@dylans Very cool. I can tell you, without doubt, my lunch would have been lost.
-
@nuleafjhawk Me too. I can barely get on a boat, even one that is docked. Much less a plane doing acrobatics.
-
@dylans I’ve always been a boat owner (boat, not yacht…) and that’s never been an issue but it’s the horizontal circular motion that gets me. Think “Tilt-a-Whirl” at the carnival. Worlds of Fun in KC used to have a contraption where everyone stepped into a large “Barrell” and stood side by side. The thing would start spinning and when it got going fast enough the floor would drop out and everyone was pinned to the wall. The day I was there, about 20 other people got to share my pizza.
-
@nuleafjhawk The first drop-floor ride I was on was at Cedar Point in Ohio when I was 8 (1964). Always wanted more!
I have never had a motion issue. I was the only guy moving around (out of 6) when our bachelor outing for my BIL was going on a tuna fishing charter into the Gulf Stream. They were all raised on the coast, me in the midwest. Go figure.
My wife has to take Bonine a.m. and p.m. on our cruise.
It’s weird to not have the problem because you cannot imagine what it’s like.
-
On my list, I had to select between movies that were my favorites because they were so much fun, and those that live in my soul because I saw them growing up and they helped form my core values (the list I posted). The other list would have included My Cousin Vinny and Ground Hog Day.
-
Disney, only been to once, about 15 years ago when I was 45 revealed my motion issues. Several “rides” where the seat you’re sitting in never moves except shake and rattle a bit strangely made me just about lose it. One was a ride in a rocket to the moon, or mars. It was intense, ride had signs warning people. I was like I’m different, I can take it easily. Well when the ride landed on Mars I was holy crap, get me out of here, but we still have to ride back to earth. Then the door opened, there was no return trip!
-
@mayjay I’ve not seen “Vinny”, but yes! - Groundhog Day is a regular for me as well. My wife hates it. That’s kind of a recurring theme in the movies that I love.
-
@wissox So, you’re still on Mars? Who’s your TV provider?
-
@nuleafjhawk My mom is from a town outside Pittsburgh named Mars, so in some ways I’m from there!
-
@nuleafjhawk Hmm that’s tough.
-
The Green Mile
-
Tombstone
-
Gone in 60 seconds
-
Shawshank Redemption
-
Baseketball
-
-
@kjayhawks You’ve got two prison movies and I’d add one to the list except the star has definitely fallen. But “Take the Money and Run” with Woody Allen is my kind of humor. Example: Virgil is robbing a bank and hands not to the teller. It says “I have a gum and I’m robbing this bank”. Teller says sir, “What’s a gum mean?” Virgil says “no, that says Gun” and they begin arguing taking it all the way to the bank president and Virgil goes to prison.
-
@kjayhawks I need to broaden my horizons. I haven’t seen any of these. Thanks for your input!
-
@wissox There once was a real crook who handed the teller a deposit slip with a note on the back about a gun and demanding her cash quietly. Trying to look like nothing was wrong she handed the blank slip back to the guy and said the slip required his name on the front. He went automatic and filled it out, handed it back, and escaped with his money.
For a while. Until they realized he put down his real name.
Truth > fiction
-
@nuleafjhawk hard to narrow it to 5, Good Will Hunting was hard to leave off the list.
