KU-Baylor Predictions
-
What’s everyone’s thoughts?
I know we are home after 2 games away and its a good time to get a sweep against a good team.
3 keys to the game for me. Rebounding: Baylor has made a living rebounding the ball as one of the nations best. Gathers is the arguably best in the country at this. He has something like 66 putback backets this year. We have to drive him out from getting easy shots.
Attacking the zone: In the first meeting our first half was extremely poor at figuring out the zone. The 2nd half we attacked the middle with Mari, and high ball screens which opened up a lot of things. Now that Cliff is starting expect us to put Ellis in that same position and hopefully our passing and aggressiveness will find ways to break the zone down.
Turnovers: Lately our value for the ball hasn’t been what it could be. Oklahoma St, especially, 1st half Texas Tech.
I think its a very close game because of how hard it is to beat teams twice no matter where it is. Allen gives us 5-10 points with the atmosphere and I’m banking our players will play with good energy at home. We need to compete with the rebounds, limit the bad turnovers and attack attack the zone. I’m predicting 72-67 win!

Baylor, like every year, is capable of beating anyone, anytime, but overall continues to, overall, under achieve. They have been good lately. They are dangerous, even in AFH. I’ll go with a close game. We win by 6.

Baylor is always dangerous… especially because you can catch them when they are streaking upwards.
Rebounds - They are a dangerous team on the offensive glass. But I like our chances at home. Self never likes to lose the battle of the boards, but especially at home. It is usually one of the keys how we win such a high percentage at home, because Self pushes our entire team to hit the boards. It should be no different today, but now we have Cliff playing on an uptick.
Attacking the zone - This is another area where we should do better in this game than we did the first game. We’ve seen Drew’s defense once already and know how to attack it. Might he throw something else at us? Yes…
TOs - I’m looking especially at our TOs today. If the numbers are low, perhaps we’ve already been practicing up for our big game at Morgantown in a few days. If we still have high TOs today, then WVU could be our 3rd major beat down this year.
If we bring high energy to this game, Baylor doesn’t stand a chance. If…
