KU not involved yet to my knowledge. Elite athlete, rough around the edges in terms of basketball.

  • KU offered Rylan Griffen a few days ago. He is very good at basketball and KU appears to be firmly in the race.

  • @BShark

Yep that’s a good one to be in on.

  • Well today is the 1st day that KU & other Colleges could have direct contact with 2022 recruits and KU was really busy.

I guess the big surprise to the recruit and to others was Ku has offered a Lawrence local a Scholi they were thrilled and & surprised.- - saying they really got to buckle up and stay after it now.

JuJu Ramirez , that is out of Bishop Seabury a 6’9 kid that can play inside and the perimeter, on his 1st day has offers from Denver , Bryant , Rhode Island , Minnesota & Ku. makes me think if KU is offering they see something in the kid, usually pretty good at evaluating talent . - so I’m good. he is going to move and play for New Hampton Prep this Season.

Reached out to many others , guys to keep an eye on : Jayden Bradley a 6’3 pg # 9 from IMG Academy

Keyonte George a 6’5 pg # 12 from Lewisville Texas

    Mark Mitchell a 6’7 F # 19 from Bishop Meige

    Lee Dort a 6’10 C # 13 from Addison Texas

Sky Clark a 6"4 pg # 23 from Dallas Texas

    A J Casey a 6’8 F # 24 from Chicago

Rylan Griffin a 6’5 SG # 76 from Richardson Texas

    Grady Dick a 6’6 G # 334 from Sunrise Academy Kansas

Nick Smith a 6’4 pg out of Sherwood Arkansas

Rody Gayle a 6’4 SG out of Niagra Falla NY

The staff is out aggressive. Check out the 247 line and most of these recruits list us in their top 5 schools at the present time to get busy - -time to keep an eye see how these things play out. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • I was surprised they offered Juju. But sounds like he’s a lock if they’ll take his commitment.

Sounds like staff must think he has that potential, we must be interested for sure if we offered - -which we did I think it was Howard who told him they like what they saw, your right I think KU is a lock - of course things can change as you know - -2022 is a ways a way yet a lot can change between now and then > I’m sure with KU offering there will be MORE schools starting to check him out at least a little.

you happen to see the picture he has hanging on the Wall behind him ? - -ya , if KU seriously wants him I find if hard to believe he goes elsewhere

  • Another in with Ju Ju if he is being strongly recruited which Townsend told him he wanted him to come in and help then win another National Championship, but KU ties with his family are really deep.

Mom played Volleyball at KU from 1999-2000 and his dad played in one of the 1st class at Free State. Ju Ju said as we all know that the atmosphere at KU is crazy , when asked what he was looking for in a School was typical the fit and just like any other kid basically wanting to play as a Freshman- - umm not to sure if that would happen how the minutes would work but time would tell on that. Kind of hard unless you special to get a lot of quality minutes at KU as a freshman . Another big thing for him is how he fots with the Coaching staff , will play a big factor in his recruitment.

One of the reasons he said he was going to go play New Hampton was because Brady Morning star played thee and was an advocate to getting him to New Hampton and that the difference between Lawrence basketball and the NEPSPS. Playing with older and stronger players were factors.

he been spending a lot of time with Brady and Doug Compton Jr, saying has really helped a lot, just lifting weights and trying to become more physical and stronger

If we want and can’t land a kid from Lawrence, just cancel the program.

  • Well things heating up for Mark Mitchell pretty fast. - -Before this week only Ku & Arkansas had offered. - -just received offers from Wake Forest & UCLA.

Our little playmates - - - Duke & N Carolina have made contact , Duke wanting to make sure to see him play this year, also contacted by Villanova , Virginia , Michigan , Texas just a few others of many - -course I knew he was going to be hit pretty hard.

I’m one that thinks we need to keep when the talent is there we need to shut the borders down - make that extra effort to keep the local talent home - -not allow these morons off the East Coast to think that just because they have made contact then he is automatically their property and come in and just take what they want. - - I think we need to try and make sure to at least put up a really legit fight on this kid

Getting Mitchell is going to be really, really tough. There are rumors around he’ll head to one of the factory schools eventually.

YA quite possibly , Fricken Duke/Villanova - - the ONE thing that w do have in our favor FWIW: - -being so close to home , family here in the immediate area , has a lot of knowledge about the KU program , seen many , many , KU games , knows the rabid fan base , knows the staff pretty well got a solid relationship with the staff , knows the history of our team & that we were I think the 1st school to offer. - -Remember up until just recently KU& Arkansas were the only schools to offer. Things just now gaining interest, I know all that probably in the end won’t amount to a hill of beans - - - hell play anywhere other then for Bone nose/Rat face. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer73 No doubt. Players like him and Dick, major in-state talents, we should make every effort to sign. We are starting to concentrate on and seal off the state (because we really had no choice), and need to start signing the bigtimers. And, by the way, the high school basketball talent in Wichita and KC is starting to really impress me.

This kid will be a Jayhawk if offered I imagine.

  • Emoni Bates commits to Michigan State before deciding to cash giant checks instead

The problem for KU locking down the state is the two biggest sources players are Sunrise and MoKan are both Nike backed teams. KU will never land the elite players from either MoKan or Sunrise as long as each are Nike backed and KU is Adidas.

Yeah, he’s going pro though. Would be a stone cold stunner to see him play in college.

  • Just read where KU has offered a 6’4 SG Derrian Ford ranked # 38 on 247 sports.

Other Schools involved : Baylor , Texas Tech , Arkansas , Florida , TCU , Missouri , Vandy , & Auburn to name a few out of Magnolia Arkansas

  • Was just reading about 2022 prospect Rylan Griffin , 6’5 SG out of Richardson Texas.

Talks about the Schools recruiting him the hardest : KU , Oklahoma , Baylor , & K-State - -now has had Auburn offer.

Had to kind of Chuckle when he was breaking down the schools and it came time for Squeaky ( Ol Brucie ) lol - -he say that they wanted him to come over and fill his Cousins shoe’s , then repeated they want we to come over and fill shoe’s lmao. - - As far as Oklahoma he said they wanted him to come and take over and score like Buddy Heid & Trae Young

When it came to KU :KU said if I can shoot I’ll be on the Court for a long time. He says the thing about KU is HISTORY. He says KU is really cool , I like them , I like Coach Bill Self He’s a really cool guy ( Side note - - -not sure but I think he thinks we are cool lol )

    Other offers Texas , Texas Tech , Texas , Okla St , Depaul , SMU , TCU , Arizona , & Texas A & M

    Interest from : Ill , Duke , Fla St , & Purdue - -Ranked # 76 in the class of 2022

  • Well been pretty bored today and did a little scoping out from Rivals and found some things kind of interesting ang yet some confusing to a degree. One thing I noticed between rivals and 247 is that the two sites vary in they’re ranking of players - -some quite a bit.

Found some names - -some has been mentioned & a few that I haven’t heard. Here are some and difference on rankings : - One Big one that hadn’t heard mentioned and looks like he interested is:

4 ( by 247 ) - -# 6 by ( Rivals ) - -is Amari Bailey 6’4 Combo out of Chatsworth California. - -has a future cast of 100 % KU- - -but here is the thing I see where fans can make their predictions on where they think a kid is going , So the confusing part is a prediction on rivals from an expert or just some random fan ? - Cause I saw where a couple of players that had their top 5 schools of interest and yet a couple of times where there was a future cast of a School that wasn’t even listed. - - Confusing -Other names for 2022:

    Kajani Wright 6’9 PF out of LA California – ( 10 - -247 )- -( # 9 rivals )

    Lee Dot - -heard this name before 6’10 Center out of Addison Texas- - ( # 12- -247- - ( 15 rivals )

    Brice Griggs 6’'1 PG out of San Diego - – ( # 22 --247 ) - - -( # 27 rivals )

    Dylan Andrews 6’4 PG out of LA California- - - ( # 25 - -247 )- - ( # 30 rivals )

    Vince Iwuchukwu 6’ 10 Center out of San Antonio Tx - - ( # 34- -247 )

    Tre White Another name heard before ( # 47- -247 )- - ( #39 rivals )

    Rylan Griffin 6’5 SG out of Richardson Texas ( # 53- -247 )

    Colin Smith 6’7 SF out of Dallas Texas- - ( # 74- -247 - - ( # 57 rivals ) quite a difference

    Joseph Pinion 6’6 SF out of Morrillon Ark- - ( # 105- -247- - ( # 89 rivals ) another big difference

Some names I found. Looks like we are still hitting big boys one way or another , these guys either listed KU as one of their top 5 Schools at the present , so either they’re interest in us or Our interest in them or both. - we were listed for 10 out of the top 53 rated players for one reason or another in the class of 2022 - - there are others they listed but we have mentioned - - -Grady Dick , for one - -gonna be interesting just passing some names along , you may have heard of these guys - - or not - -anyways - -some one’s to keep an eye on. – ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

IF the NCAA crap is decided before next recruiting cycle we could have a shot here. Wasatch connection and KT has a close relationship with his family.

  • @jayballer73 Good research (I’m lazy).

  • Class of 2022 Aidan shaw 6’8 Sf has been offer by ku

  • @FarmerJayhawk lol

I’d love for KU to actually get back in the game.

do not get your hope up as ku actually get back in the game for him

  • Not talking about him, but KU in general being able to actually land kids again. NCAA crap needs to be finalized. Will KU land a PG ever again???!

  • @BShark

What if Harris is the goods?

  • @BeddieKU23 I think he is a solid player, but we need another guard. At a minimum we need a replacement for Garrett.

Yep we do. We are dumpster diving so to speak though now after several whiffs

  • @BeddieKU23 yeah I’m not surprised sadly.

  • Ku has just offered top-75 @psacardinals guard kyle cuffed class of 2022

  • @BShark

Our luck with PSA sent me the other way

There might be a little something to it. KU is pushing for a reclass and UK has a lot less appeal in 21, given Askew and Hickman will definitely be there, and they’re likely in Sallis’s top 2.

  • Seems like KU is in a pretty good spot with Cuffe Jr.

  • @BShark said in 2022 Recruiting Thread:

We should expect him elsewhere then right? All the recent “in a good spot” kids have done so

Ryan on the Phog indicated the staff is still really high on Harris. Really good chance he’s here for 4 more years and I think he has a role this year while slowly learning how he’ll possibly take over Garrett’s spot after the season. Unless Self lands himself a top level PG like he did Dotson to come in right away it makes the most sense that they are content to let Harris develop and become a starter.

I think it’s fine if Harris starts. The best case scenario with returning players leaves KU with three guards. Harris, Bryce and…Jossell. Braun, Ochai and Tyon could fill in but you really want a third guard other than Jossell. I can see where it would be tough to recruit even normally w/o the NCAA crap as other coaches will say everyone is coming back. Other than getting a guard out recruiting has lined up well with players that are for sure leaving. Clemence in for Silvio and KJ in for Mitch.

  • @BShark

I would absolutely prefer another guard that’s interchangeable on the perimeter. The rug fell out from the Hickman recruitment, Bates did his thing and Salis is being pushed in other ways so it is what it is there. Missing on Hickman is a major loss, I personally thought his game was terrific. Maybe the staff finds something in the Spring or pushes the transfer market for an upperclassmen. The recruiting cloud isn’t going away anytime soon and I wouldn’t count out Braun becoming a go-to perimeter guy by Jr season. I think he has the chance to surprise the fanbase the way Marcus developed himself into a dependable PG option last season. Things have a way of working themselves out. I hope the recruiting losses on the perimeter are replaceable.

Offer should be coming, KU is in contention with Syracuse and Alabama.

  • @BShark

Gayle is very good, reminds of BMac

  • @BShark Man, a 6’6 PG.
