My Niece - - her hausband had a friend watching the Super bouwl at their house. - This guy really wasn’t a big Chiefs fan BUT he still made a bet with a friend of his saying the Chiefs would win the game. - -He bet 500.00 dollars - -man you talk about easy money lol. – Not even a Chiefs fan and still win five hundred bucks lol
-
@jayballer73 - you should be a Chiefs fan now!

I am - - - always have been unless they are playing Green Bay lol

The average cost of a ticket in 1969 the last tine the chiefs were there was $15, minimum wage was $1.45 so basically one 10 hour shift got you able to go. The average ticket price this year was over $2500 dollars, meaning without OT you would have to work for over 2 months to afford a ticket. Inflation is a problem friends.
-
@kjayhawks that’s not inflation, that’s a fool being parted with their money…I mean dang I wish I was there.
-
@dylans exactly why I’ll never go to a Super Bowl or a final four. I went to Wichita the last time and it averaged out to I believe a $100 a game so that wasn’t terrible or even anymore expensive than a trip to the field house most years.
-
@kjayhawks not as much about inflation as it is the growing gap in wealth and the hollowing of the middle class. There is a market for $2500 tickets and to that audience, it’s like a $20 ticket to everybody else. Welcome to the era of plutocracy.

What’s everybody think about the Jayhawks saying home of the Chiiiiiieeeeffs!? I guess it was loud and proud tonight.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Ik it ticks off some people, I find it funny personally.
-
I dig it. Reminds me of the Orioles fan yelling O! in “O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave?”
-
It has been a tradition my entire life.
I like traditions.
I think people these days are a bunch of babies who can’t have any fun ever. Yelling Chiefs doesn’t hurt a soul. But it sure does make me smile every time I hear it.
-
Ehh I just find it classless, but to each their own.
-
I got my rear chewed at a game for yelling chiefs. I have so many family members that have served so I mean no disrespect.

I think it’s pretty tacky. Don’t mess with the anthem.
-
@FarmerJayhawk I agree. I love to be spontaneous and slightly rebellious (very slightly), but not with the National Anthem.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I would ask which game? Seems fine to me at a the NFL football game but don’t really get it at KU games. I could understand it last night as people were excited from the super bowl but most nights if you are at the field house, cheer for the Jayhawks. Save the chiefs stuff for arrowhead stadium. Just my opinion. I certainly wouldn’t yell at anyone about it but it does irk me a bit.
-
What about this?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Consider the source…
-
@nuleafjhawk your quote is from my favorite movie! Attitude…
-
@Crimsonorblue22 it wouldn’t surprise me if some of it is true but I don’t trust everything on the internet or really most things. The guy video seems a typical Democrat fool “old white men are the trouble with this country” two seconds later “vote for our old white man for president!”. I usually get a good laugh out the political nonsense all over these days from both sides. But I’ve seen or heard of more hypocritical people then they he democrats.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I love that movie too. Probably seen it 30 times. My wife would say that is an understatement.
-
Disclaimer: totally my opinion here and I respect you for having yours.
I don’t understand why the national anthem is held sacrosanct because of the military. It seems counter intuitive to me. Our military fights for us SO THAT WE CAN BE FREE. Not the inverse. We are not free so that we can be militaristic. Fighting is a necessary evil, for our protection and our freedom, but an evil nonetheless.
It’s one thing to make fart noises during the national anthem, it’s another to have a little fun. It’s a sporting event. Also, supposed to be fun.
It speaks to the underlying militarism imposed on our sporting events. Conditioning of the masses. The two don’t have to be associated and contributes to why young people are turning away from organized sports.
-
More raw takes.
I hope I live to see America the Beautiful become the National Anthem and God Bless America be extricated from sporting events. Take Me Out To The Ballgame!
I know I know… simmah down now!

San Fran newspaper.
-
@dylans love it!
-
@kjayhawks my pt was how he acted during the anthem, especially after condemning others.
-
@approxinfinity I respect your opinion - here’s mine. For the …two minutes it takes to sing the National Anthem, it doesn’t seem like a huge inconvenience to be respectful to the men and women who have given their lives for our country.
-
Ladies and Gentlemen - I respectfully ask that you remove your hats, place your hand over your heart, and scream Chiefs during the singing of the national anthem.
