2020 Recruiting

  • @BeddieKU23 I guess he is okay with being deep bench. He is ranked in the 70s and starting right away isn’t for everyone.

  • @BShark

Maybe there is a plan for him or the roster will open up a bit at seasons end the way Arkansas has gone about 3 over recruiting so far. Not signing in the fall at least keeps the options open slightly

  • Curious , and I know there is no room on the roster for this year BUT just had a question. - -JT Thor didn’t sign in the early period most thought he would be signing early with Okla State. - -he didn’t , but said he never planned signing early from the start. - -There has been some talk about possible Over sea’s - -he said he thought some about- -but very unlikely.

Thing is I the article said there was four schools really focusing on him. – Oklahoma State - - - -Kentucky - - - KU - - & then I forget another school, his only official had been to Oklahoma State.

Having said all that to ask this question - -Is there ANY possible chance - - any at all with the extra time to work on him - -would there be any chance to convince him NOT to re-classify to 2020. - the article said class of 2022 , that’s not right is it, thought he was 2021. - -If he stayed put we could always hit him hard for next year. - -ANY CHANCE?

  • @jayballer73

Believe that article is wrong hes a 2020 guy. He visited only 2 schools on his supposed list. Farmer would know more but I dont think we have been active with Thor in a while. Maybe that changes as the season goes on but OSU having a good start and looking like a team that could be ranked during the season might seal the deal for them as they have the roster space

thanks. - -I don’t know could very easily be wrong but I swear originally he was in the class of 2021 and sure thought I read articles where he was talking about wanting to re-classify to 2020 - -again coul be easily wrong but - hell the article said he was class of 2022 I know that can’t be right - -he wouldn’t be jumping 2 years for sure - -don’t know why I sure thought he was 2021 and then re-classified to 2020 - -oh well wouldn’t be the 1st time I’m wrong

Ya I didn’t think we checking in on him - -but this thig I read today said it was Oklahoma St - - -Ku - - Georgia - - & Kentucky. - -I don’t think Kentucky has really any serious interest - - he broke down all 4 schools - -who knows

Thor is a 2020 kid. I think it’s pretty likely he’s going to OSU barring some NCAA stuff. At this point I think it drags on for awhile.

  • @jayballer73 It would be far from bad if we somehow were able to land not only JT Thor, but also Zeus Williams and Poseidon Jackson all in one fell swoop.

  • Rumors swirling that ISU lost a recruit after last nights game…

Would only be interested if it’s Foster.

  • @FarmerJayhawk yeah but I think he would just end up at Iowa. The top rumor appears to be Blackwell who we definitely don’t have a need for.

  • Wrinkle. Zion Harmon is reclassifying and KU is an option. He’ll visit for the Tennessee game (I think)

Interesting we have been hanging around in his recruitment. Small guard but Self seems to love them

Little dude is absolutely wired to score

  • Absolutely need to land a PG who can play from day 1 in the 2020 class imo.

I’m bullish on Harris, who’ll be a de facto member of the 2020 class after RS’ing this year.

I am too, I just don’t like putting all of our eggs in that basket.

  • @FarmerJayhawk Can he shoot??!!

That’s fair. Harris might not even start: Garrett, Thompson, Agbaji, Enaruna, McCormack (rough guess)

  • Woodrow said:

Not his strength. But I’d also add he’s far from a lock to KU. I’d say we’re behind the hometown school WKU and Maryland at least.

This poster on the Maryland board nailed it…

“Seeing Western Kentucky on a kid’s list is basically his camp’s way of letting you know what they’re looking for.”

  • @FarmerJayhawk

Your right about that and probably one of the things that keeps the staff on his trail

  • Interesting things going on in Manhattan. They already had a 4 man class (despite 3 open scholarships), just signed a transfer big from UTEP and are hot and heavy after another PG from Nebraska. Looks like Bruce is going to mush some players again.

Brucie HAS to do something. - -now here is a coach in Basketball that might be pushing players out in Basketball & yet as I have read There are people who think that Coach Miles is just dis-respectful , no class as they say for recruiting over a commit in football - -offering more then what’s available - sorry that’s just the way it is - you recruit - -recruit - - recruit always looking for better right?

Really no different to me then like in football when a recruit verbals to a School such as KU and it is really no more then ya - ok I am committing and then they wait for the bigger fish to offer and then DE-COMMIT and leave a School hanging

But ya Brucie up to pushing people out. - -Are Scholi’s still only good year to year ? - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Looking for guys that will max out the play harder mixtape

  • Oregon continues to drop them bags- landing former Michigan St commit PG Jalen Terry cause you know its easy pulling recruits from Michigan

  • We should have room to get 1 more.

Any bigs left out there? Maybe the transfer market

  • Greg Brown would look nice in a KU uni. Too bad we can’t pay him what he wants.

    swooooosh

  • JT Thor, Cliff Omoruyi the only uncommitted Top 100 bigs out there… Both waiting to pick which Nike Check they want!

  • Zion Harmon moved his visit , was suppose to be this week end. - coming in to Visit now on the 2-3 of February

He right now is the # 20 player in 2021 , but his dad as saying possible re-class to 2020. Will know for sure I think his Birthday which they said I think is March 12th

Interesting. Pretty sure we aren’t playing ball there.

  • Been going through the Dajuan Harris tape. Hope we get an update on him at some point this season from the coaches. I really think he will be a solid backup to Garrett next season when needed. I’m excited to see if he is another diamond found

I like his length, passing ability and D.

  • @Marco

All 3 give him a chance to play next season. I also like his ability to use his body to get in the lane and then snipe a floater up. His athleticism improved big time over the last few years. Hopefully he put on 10 to 15 pounds this season because playing at 160 is not possible. I think he has intangibles and certainly has familiarity playing with Braun

  • Huh. Looks like JT Thor might go back to 2021, take a prep year, and explore the draft or go pro overseas.

  • @FarmerJayhawk

Makes sense why his recruitment is crickets

  • Hearing that if we land Harmon we may axe Jossell or find a way to push him back to 21.

Oh man, @jayballer73 is going to not be able to contain himself on hearing this news Lol.

  • I’m going to say it everyone, you ready…? My opinion? I think that the NCAA investigation - as far as recruiting goes - has actually (looking back, in retrospect) helped us.

I love both this and next year’s classes. The scandal has caused us to re-examine local talent, as well as sign other players who otherwise would have gone on to thrive for three or four seasons in other programs. It is going to pay bigtime dividends, my friends.

    Things change playah?

  • Trying to figure out how Harmon fits on that squad next yr… interesting note on Jossell

  • @BeddieKU23 ditto.

    I think just contingency planning

Is his scoring worth the extra stuff… These types of kids give me nightmares

  • @Woodrow would rather have this kid than Jossell or Harmon tbh.

  • I dig. More of a wing than guard but could be a nasty 2/3 in a couple years. Also shooting 35% from 3 and 72% from the line this year. Love his frame. Dude is large.

  • First impression, well built kid. Tattoo game on the right arm is lit. Can definitely shoot the 3. Dropped 50 in a recent game. Decent handles/athletic ability. 4 year guy.

For those wondering Donovan Williams- Former Nebraska commit #146 6’5 SG 190 from Lincoln Nebraska.

Since decommitting he’s taken unofficial visits to Oklahoma St, Kansas St in 2020. Will be interesting to see if they offer

Yeah you can see the fit with him. Really wondering what all this recent activity for a guard is about. Figured we’d be more in the market for a big
